i have a fresh install of 1004 final up till now Ive done everything through webadmin (except hulu) and everything has worked great even hdmi audio on m3n78-vm but im having a little problem with usbirt once the device is connected the hybrid adds it and also adds the mce remote.  Shouldnt those two device be under "the core/hybrid" in the device tree instead of under "CORE" either way my (even if I changed "controlled by" the remote is not working and it seems like USB URT 0038 doesnt start correctly on route reload.  Any comments or suggestions?

just an update.  I just install 1004 final from iso downloaded yesterday (3/29/2013).  I went to the MD in the web admin and installed the hulu software (like we are all suppose to).  Unfortunately it did not work, I was getting a segfault.  so after reading this I did the following to get it to work.

then uninstalled current firefox and installed the download debs, and now I'm watching daily show.

Developers / Re: Building Dynamic Orbiters with JSON/AJAX/HTML5
« on: March 29, 2013, 09:40:00 pm »
I think it sounds very interesting.  I am a web developer and use various java frameworks, javascript (jquery), and often times use json to exhange data between different systems.  Ive been using linuxmce for about 4 years and have created some basic device templates in the past.  I have tried the UIDesigner in the past (but wasnt successful) and have a few devices that have had the web orbiter running.  I currently have 3 mds and a hybrid with ATSC tv, hd using vdpau, video cameras (both analog and IP), and two WEBDTs.

I havent had a whole lot of free time lately because of work, but If you need a hand with something send me a PM.

Interesting note for someone in the future (probably me if I ever have to reinstall this MD)

the steps located at: are partially incomplete (at least for my motherboard)

the atl1c driver is a little different in kernel < 2.6.34 and it would seem 1004 is running 2.6.32

So i had to apt-get install kernel-image-2.6.35, then run /usr/pluto/bin/ NOT mkinitramfs -d /etc/initramfs-tools-interactor/ -o /tftpboot/default/initrd (which gets run anyways inside the previous script

the trick was I had to remove the directory /lib/modules/2.6.32 (the previously installed kernel). Then running /usr/pluto/bin/ once the first part of the md install was over I had to follow the directions at the link above and add proper symlink in /usr/pluto/diskless/<md id>/initrd.img and vmlinuz

First of all thanks for the reply and for all the work you have done with hdmi audio in linuxmce.

I'm a little confused about what you said:
You would "expect the m3n78-vm to not want a device assignment"?
then "would ONLY expect it to work with 'AlternateSC = 0'...

not sure what you meant by that; anyway I edited /etc/pluto.conf and delete both /etc/asound.conf and /etc/X11/xorg.con*, then rebooted. This seems to have configured xine correctly (I have sound when using xine), but myth (tv) still has no sound.

I have a M3N78-VM.  I used apt-get update and apt-get upgrade today and now I dont have audio (HDMI).  The command: aplay -D plughw:0,3 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav plays sound through the speakers, but no sound in xine and no sound in myth.  What are the correct steps to get it working? I already went through the avwizard again selecting hdmi audio and restarted various times.  This is on the CORE/Hybrid.

Users / [SOLVED] NIC not recognized - BIOSTAR G41D3C - kernel driver atl1c
« on: September 20, 2012, 03:36:44 am »
I have a Biostar G41D3C ( with a pci-x (VDPAU capable) hdmi out card and 2 gigs of ram.  I should world great as an MD, but apparently the NIC is not supported by the kernel or the drivers are not loaded by default.  I'm a little confused on the offical way to get this md working and possible supported OTB by linuxmce future release.

Can some one post help me figure this out... maybe by posting here some official instructions so I can try them and then I''ll document them correctly in the wiki (It seems that the current documentation of this on the wiki doesnt work right)?

Any update on this?

Installation issues / Re: Pluto-mplayer
« on: January 04, 2012, 04:28:43 am »
from what I understood linuxmce isnt really using mplayer; it uses xine for all video formats and with the new xine-lib update just about all mkv containers using h264 hd content works great (when using vdpau).  mplayer was left around just incase someone wanted to improve it, but the system supports xine much better and has been setup to use it exclusively...

But someone who really knows ought to correct me.

Users / No Orbiter on Core
« on: December 14, 2011, 09:56:19 pm »
I hardly ever use the core as an orbiter, but I had updated about a few weeks back and I noticed that after a reboot, a few days ago, the computer just goes write into KDE as if it was a kubuntu install.  I'm using 1004 and all mds are working fine.  Everything seems to be working great... but no MD on the core...

Any suggestions?
