any updates on the "Un-Web Orbiter"?  I recently tried the new weborbiter for a HTC Mogul and it work relatively well.  I'm still trying to fine tune the layout for a nice res and button layout.

But I was wondering about this "Un-Web Orbiter" thing...

awesome, I get my device in tomorrow and hope to be trying it out this weekend.  I'll post here again if anyone else is interested in getting these working on their on configuration.

**UPDATE**

I got in the CM15A and the light switches and everything worked just as described on the wiki.  Just remember you can only use incandesent bulbs NOT the florecent ones...  ( I had to change them before I found out the difference...)

I've been having the same errors/crashes as Wombiroller; when I return to the UI and then enter liveTV it seems work again.  So, its not an extremely major issue, its just a little annoying sometimes....

Users / intel video drivers
« on: September 07, 2010, 07:13:35 am »
I'm dong some experimenting with an Intel mini itx motherboard and everything installed great I put UI2 on the avwizard and it seems to show everything cool at a low res (1024x768), but I notice that the xorg driver is vesa not intel.  So I change it to intel, but it would seem that the 3150 that his mb uses isn't supported by the intel driver that are loaded.

(I think I'm doing this right...)

so I downloaded the drivers from  http://intellinuxgraphics.org/2010Q2.html and try to compile them, but I get the message:

Quote
checking for XORG... configure: error: Package requirements (xorg-server >= 1.6 xproto fontsproto  randrproto renderproto xextproto x11 xextproto) were not met:

Requested 'xorg-server >= 1.6' but version of xorg-server is 1.5.2

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables XORG_CFLAGS
and XORG_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Any suggestions on how to get around this or am I just not going about this correctly? Is there another way to get X to run with the intel drivers?

I didn't install from the latest snapshot, but could this be why intercom functionality isn't working on system?

Users / Re: subtitles and audio settings .mkv
« on: August 27, 2010, 02:27:42 am »
From what I understand its not possible yet:

I´m looking at xine now to see what can be done about this.
xineliboutput (vdr-sxfe) is what breaks if you use xine with mkv patches.
I´m not sure why as I have not found anything in vdr-sxfe that should depend upon mkv stuff in libxine.
Still it does break.

Thanks, niz23! Also it'd be nice to have possibility switch audio track in AVI or MKV played by Xine. mplayer has a short key for that. So, using keyboard it's possible change the audio track. But with xine only MessageSend can be used to do that.

But that brings up a question from me (I don't mean to hijack this thread, but...)

Subtitles (in .srt format in the same directory as the video file and with the same name as the video) seem to make the movie studder any time someone talks (or anytime the subtitle ought to be displayed).  This seems to happen only on my md that has vdpau.  I don't know if this is happening to anyone else, but I have another md that doesn't use vdpau and its seems to work fine (old machine that doesn't play hd very well, but it doesn't studder like the other one).

Anyone else expierencing this?

Users / Re: Hulu Desktop Update
« on: August 26, 2010, 11:07:12 pm »
I did the same as stated above:

downloaded the deb from hulu's webpage and went ahead and downloaed the deb from adobe for flash and did "dpkg -i" on both and worked great.

I did this for every md that has hulu and everything worked great.

**Remember if you download everything to "/home/<yourusername>/Desktop" you'll have that available on your mds aswell; you won't have to redownload it to every md.

This thread seemed very active for a while; then NOS disappeared... I ordered a CM15a and 6 dimmer switches;  they should be here next week and I hope to revive this thread and get all this stuff working and documented.

I ordered a CM15A(USB) which I believe replaces the CM11A(serial) and also includes wireless transmition and the 11A doesn't.  I had to order it with the software to receive a discount and it came to a total of $29.  I understand that the difference between the CM15A and CM19A is that the 19A only does wireless and you'd need another module to go from wireless to wired.

From what I understand the 11a and 15a are already plug and play ( I'll be testing that next week ) and the 19a is like less that $10 online.

It sounds like the prices on these products are great and since X10 has been aroud a while there are people around here that have it and don't even know they have it (cause it doesn't work and they forgot how to configure it).  Giving this X10 products a new look with linuxmce sounds pretty cool, so I hope to add to the wiki / forums as much as I can with info on how to get it to work.

I really liked where this thread was going, and the insight it gave me in template creation and ruby programming.  I ordered a few x10 stuff and I'm going to be playing around with it once it gets here (about a week).

Please post updates on the what you've done rperre.

Users / asterisk - intercom
« on: August 20, 2010, 04:55:58 pm »
I haven't started configuring the telecomunications part yet, but I bought a few microphones for two mds I have.  I plan on first testing the intercom functionality and then connecting it to a VoIP provider.  But, when I connected the microphones and tried to call another md, I get a message saying "Calling... Please wait" and nothing ever happens.

Any suggestions on what I should look at to begin troubleshooting this?  I understand that there were some issues with asterisk, but I did the apt-get update and it seemed to install new versions of simplephone and stuff.  The intercom functionality should work out of the box, right?

then when I type "apt-get upgrade"  I get the following:

Quote
root@moon88:~# apt-get upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages have been kept back:
  libxine-dev libxine1 libxine1-all-plugins libxine1-bin libxine1-console libxine1-dbg libxine1-ffmpeg libxine1-gnome libxine1-misc-plugins
  libxine1-plugins libxine1-x
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 11 not upgraded.

I did manually install a xine patch a while back, but that was before the new one that did not break vdr.  Am I doing something wrong?
