Feature requests & roadmap / Integrate Funambol with LMCE?
« on: December 30, 2009, 05:25:49 am »
I noticed a few people have asked about a mail server in LMCE.
Would the Funambol project be useful as part of the solution? It looks like it could add some interesting features.

Hi Justin,

Go with dedicated virtual machine layer, rather that an OS with VM software, much more reliable.
Personally, I use VMWare ESXi, works a treat.

Hi Everyone,

I have purchased an Asus eeeBox EB1501 & attempted to set it up as an MD.

I ran into the "link down" & kernel panic on the network card, so I followed the instructions for the r8168 & unrecognised NIC.
Now I get the message "No devices to configure"

Has anyone else managed to get the EB1501 to work?

Regards,
Josh

Users / Atom board as core
« on: November 13, 2009, 03:56:06 am »
Ok, I have been getting conflicting ideas from people about whether a Dual Core Atom board would work as a CORE.

The plan is to have the core & 3 atom based MDs, using a NAS for storage & a HDHomeRun DVB-T for TV.
Core would not be used as hybrid, just for Core duties.

Will or will this not work?

Josh

I'm from Australia as well & this stuff just caught my attention (Got the same email as wombiroller)
will it work with LinuxMCE at the moment, or would some development be needed?

Levster,

The "cannot connect to router" is a different issue than what is being discussed here, but I have noticed some other topics in the forum discussing it.

I believe there is a temp fix in this topic - http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=8939.0

Users / Re: HDHomeRun DVB-T in 810?
« on: October 06, 2009, 11:17:49 am »
Thanks Andrew, will give it a shot. One problem I seem to be encountering is the current HDHomeRun script installing the firmware for the non DVB-T version when you plug it in the first time.

Wierdbeard, I have only tried it with VMWare ESX, but all VMWare products should work ok.
I set it up exactly the same as on a standard machine, just make sure to install the VMWare tools first, or the install takes forever.
The only downside with using ESXi is you loose the ability to use PCI, USB & serial devices.

Josh

I haven't had much luck with PCI cards & reception where I live.
Reception quality with the HDHomeRun is far better than anything else I have tried.
I'm looking at setting up several of these systems for friends, who are in a simillar position to me.

There other reason I like it is because I can use it with my core running as a virtual machine on my VMWare ESXi box  ;D

Hello,

Does anyone have the HDHomeRun DVB-T working in 810?

If so, do you have instructions I could try?
If not, I'm willing to make a contribution to get it working. It's about the only decent DVB-T tuner us Aussies have to work with.

Josh

I've used a Gizmo5 trunk  for Skype calls previously, seemed to work ok & was reasonably priced.
If you want to try it first, the free account allows you to make 1-3 minute Skype calls for testing.

Dothedog: You legend!

I was getting the (eth0): device state change: 1 -> 2 as well, but removing NetworkManager as you suggested has fix the problem!

Josh
