17  LinuxMCE / Feature requests & roadmap / Linuxmce Mini GPL? on: February 24, 2011, 02:20:55 am
I seen some talk about a mini linuxmce that is in the works that might be gpl.

Any truth in it or am I reading to much into it?
18  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Core as touch screen central control... on: February 23, 2011, 09:38:02 pm
I think I might try out the mini2440 aproach.  With those I can use 7+ inch screens and or custom build mounts housings
for wall tabletops or embeded into furniture or other objects.

19  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Core as touch screen central control... on: February 23, 2011, 05:56:00 pm
I was looking also at mini2440 as a simular   but I do not know if it is working as of yet.

it would be easier.

As far as the webdt they look like they work nice  but afraid of availabilty later down
the road.  And the mobile orbitors like possibly PDA's is another solution -but-  as i found
with the axim 50v  work sweet and also mines itself into couches and chairs well too  lol

If any tried something simular throw me youre ideas.

FYI

If we end up buying and renovating this house in march its going to be 90% lmce systems.
as well as if it goes well ill have to do a demo video ect   Smiley

20  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Core as touch screen central control... on: February 23, 2011, 05:46:30 pm
lets say

(2) x vga lcd wall mounted pulling video threw a 1x2 vga splitter "possibly vga via cat5/6"

Then usb via cat5/6 for the touch screen interface/inputs since i know i can have more than
one human interface device.

Knowing that what ever was shown on one screen whould also be on the other would not be
a issue.  These would be for main control area's/whole house + ability from core to control all..

And positioned like alarm keypads would per house level..

21  LinuxMCE / Users / Core as touch screen central control... on: February 23, 2011, 02:39:05 pm
The main question is....

Can one use the clone the the video out put from the core say to touch screens in a home
( one main level and one upper level ) and use it in a general home zone

for controling home lighting regular home audio ect  as well as if needed control the md's
in other rooms?

the thing is it may have multiple 2 to 3 touch screens

24  LinuxMCE / Developers / Serial conrtoled matrix switches on: September 28, 2010, 02:50:42 am
I am looking at carrying some hdmi/component matrix switches...

i have the ASCII / RS-232 command chart:

Output 1   (command) 11  (action) Output 1 select Input 1
Reply Output 1: o1i1

Output 1   (command) 12  (action) Output 1 select Input 2
Reply Output 1: o1i2

ect ect..

I wanted to start makinging a template for these rs-232 matrix switchers.

Whats is the best route to start at being I never worked in ruby  ( had a little perl & C++  but so long ago )

Zotac 8100-ce matx mobo
2gb ram 1066
gf8600 pcie ( using hdtv componetn output )
160gb sata( os drive + some media )
Fugitu sata dvdrw
hitachi 500gb sata

DVD install beta2
(after Kubuntu + Linuxmce install had to run nvidia-config + add in
BusID "PCI:3:0:0" ( for my gf8600 )
Mode "800x600" "1024x768"

Before reboot or Linuxmce would not lauch X for its config

Setup went good  ( Love the newer Icon sets for UI + UI2 aplha )

Linuxmce detects sad1 (160gb sata in witch my os is on )

but...

sdc1 500gb hitachi is not add threw linuxmce ( ext3 format ) note also had a 320gb seagate i pluged in either sata port 3 or 4 no go either fat32 or ntfs format  -or-  ext2 " was testing id 500gb was bad ect...

the 500 and 320gb are seen in Kubuntu and can be mounted and used  as well as on my laptop via usb addapter...soo I know the physical drives are ok...

at the moment I am running apt-get update + upgrade

i'll post if any fix cam about or more info
27  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / 810 beta2 net install linuxmce does not see media drive on: January 19, 2010, 03:32:40 am
two days ago i did a dvd install of kubuntu 810

run udate + upgrade per the sites instructions

downloaded the beta tar  ranthe commands per the site instruction.

The install took a awhile  but  i didnt notice any error.

I can run the system just fine  accually reallysmooth    but...

I have a 500gb  sata drive that has Linuxmce file structure + media on it
as well as a couple jump drives..

None of witch Linuxmce want to setup  ---but---  kubuntu sees them

I fear something went wrong during the install.    If I mount these threw Kunbunto
(Dolphin)  i can access files ect  but Linuxmce does not want to see or set them up

I have no unknown devices in Pluto admin...
