Users / Anyone gotten a MicroClient jrMX to work as a MD?
« on: March 16, 2011, 07:44:11 pm »
I have an older one of these units (the Jr, only 200MHz), and just saw they have a newer one out.  This would make a great basic MD, throw it on an old 15" LCD with a VESA mount and you don't even see the unit!

Yes only movies with subtitles.  My /etc/exports appears fine, but I'm not sure what it means by the following section:
## BEGIN : InternalStorageDevices
/mnt/device/99 192.168.80.0/255.255.255.0(rw,no_root_squash,no_all_squash,async,nohide,no_subtree_check)
/mnt/device/100 192.168.80.0/255.255.255.0(rw,no_root_squash,no_all_squash,async,nohide,no_subtree_check)
/mnt/device/127 192.168.80.0/255.255.255.0(rw,no_root_squash,no_all_squash,async,nohide,no_subtree_check)

/mnt/device/99 is the primary storage, but the others I am not sure of.  There is nothing in those directories anyway.

I've yet to find a reason why this happens on some movies but not on others.  I have movie.avi and movie.avi.srt - when I play movie.avi it says "File not found /path/to/movie.avi" and goes back to the menu.  I can go to the KDE desktop and select the file and it plays fine, so it doesn't seem to be the file itself.  If I remove the subtitle file the movie plays fine in LMCE without subtitles.

I searched the wiki and the forums, and googled for it with no luck.  There was another person that had this problem awhile ago and I messaged him and he said he gave up and switched to XBMC.

An update, I still haven't found the cause of this, it still works for a week or two at most and then xine starts eating up far more CPU, and a reboot still fixes the problem.  I am running 710

Holy crap, this was the issue I had as well!  I hadn't used my LMCE system in about a month due to home renovations, and I hadn't plugged everything back in yet.  I plugged everything in (even though I wasn't using it all yet) and then it started working properly! Thanks!  I'll add this to my profile on the wiki for the next person.

I added some in-wall dimmers, and they aren't turning on/off reliably when I start a show.  I tried manually editing the lighting scenario, but it didn't matter.  If I press 1 or 2 on the remote they do turn on/off eventually, but it takes 30sec or more when I do it this way.

Has anyone else had this problem?  I bought these dimmers:

Oh I'm running 710 or maybe its 704, its not 810

I rebooted, and the video plays fine.  There is nothing over 2% cpu usage!

So my system is doing the skipping again, here is my top output:

The video I am playing is very low quality, yet it is using 60% cpu!  I'd say it is about 400x300 at most, the total file is only 150mb or so.  If I boot into Vista I can watch HD 1080 video without skipping!

Has anyone found a fix for this?  If not, is there anyone that has this working that can post their log please?

I don't just mean adding a bookmark, I would like this on the root menu.

I think this is a simple thing, I just can't figure out how to do it!

I'd like to add a button or something that goes to a webpage when you click it (the webpage auto-refreshes).  I'd like it to be off the main menu somewhere if possible.  How do I add this?  I have 710.

Are you using ui2 with alpha blending, or just ui2? If you're using the alpha blending piece try shutting that off and retesting to see if that clears it up.
The alpha blending is what made me decide to go with LMCE!  The problem is that it takes weeks for it to start skipping, it isn't easy to duplicate, I don't know what triggers it.

Turns out this was a red herring, it happens even if I don't turn on a MD.  xine is using about 40% cpu and mysqld is using about 5-10%, other than that nothing is doing much!  A reboot still fixes it though.

I am running UI2 but these systems are hefty enough to handle it with no problems.  If you look at my profile on the wiki you can see what I have.

UPDATE - it happens even when I don't boot a MD, I had only been using the core for the past week or so and it started happening again.  So this is a red herring, something else must be causing it to skip.

I'm not at home and not watching anything now, but that is what it has right now for top.  Not sure if that helps or not.
