Oh my god, the Xine Player log and the Xine plug-in log is full of red errors, have to check what they mean. I had success now in playing Audio Files and I can hear the sound when I am playing the setup .mpg videos. But Picture I only see in the browser (for example youtube) or when I put a DVD in the drive. Because DVD works I think it should not be the nVidia driver, looks more like a xine problem. What I did is running the Video-Audio Setup again and choose the UI1 for testing.
Another weired thing is that I can see the media, I got on my USB-Stick for testing about 5 or 6 times when I go to Video or Audio. And the pics I got on it in a folder doesn't show up. But thats a folder I copied to the public folder as well.... Isn't there a video tutorial how to get started with a new set up hybrid. It's always hard for me to follow all the instructions the right way when I read an english tutorial (I'm german).
Thanks so far.

When I try to play .mp3 i see the mediabrowser and the title of the song, but no sound again.... I even tryed copying the media into the public lmce folder with the same result......

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: how installing audio spdif Realtek 1200 / ASUS P5QL-EM
|
on: January 04, 2010, 03:53:36 pm

couldn't get the spdif to work - but this was my fault, I checked the Frontpanel of my case again, and I have 2 plugs for hooking it up to my board - AC97 and HDaudio. The connection to SPdif is on the board right next to the front audio, thats why I thought its spdif.... All I got to work is the back audio now. I was trying to get sound by HDMI - I tried a Geforce 9500 (with the cable to spdif on the board) and the new GT240 (takes the soundsignal over the board - but the software has to support that). It's nothing on Mute in Alsamixer! cat /proc/asound/cards Just shows 1 Soundcard (Intel) - shouldn't that show 2 soundcards now, the intel and a nvidia?? Anybody got sound by hdmi with a ASUS mainboard and Nvidia card? What are the settings in the ASUS Bios? I can set it to SPDIF Audio and to Audio by HDMI - tried both on both cards, rebooting and everytime checking the alsamixer...... -> no sound Thanks in advance....

LinuxMCE / Users / how to play media?
|

Hey Folks,
this might be a crazy question to all the users, but how can I play media on this thing? When I go to Media -> Video - I can see all the .mpg videos for installing and when I use an USB Media I can see the .avi, .mkv Medias after a while, but when I try to play one, it just shows me the screen saver again....
I couldn't find anything in the wiki about it - did I make something wrong when I was installing? When I start the setup wizard I can't see the installing-videos either....

Hey Folks,
first of all I would like to thank all of yall for the great support the newbees get here in the board. Without this I already throwed the computer out of the window...
Now to my problem. I have a ASUS P5QL-EM Mainboard and try to hook it up to my AV by SPDIF. I connected the front Audio of my ANTEC case to the onboard spdif out and put the coax cable to my AV. But theres no sound at all.....
Any suggestions for solving this problem freaky

Thanks, I changed the resolution, but then I recognised that this doesn't solve my problem because the align was not right then.
I solved that problem when I followed the wiki solving another problem - I had microscopic unreadable fonts in KDE. Following the instructions there was solving my screensize problem also....
Thanks again for supporting newbees like me...

Hey Folks,
I connected my machine to my Denon AV 4306 (DVI to HDMI) and the denon to my Epson projector (by HDMI). My Epson does 720 x 1280 pixels. When I take 720p in my AV-Wizzard, the screen is still to big and does not fit on the projector. Even when I run a regular ubuntu, it recognice 720p but the screen doesn't fit. Any Idea how I can change or adjust the screensize?

Does anybody have the right configuration in the MythTV Backend for my Hauppauge Nova-S plus (DVBs)? Is it similar to the Nova-T? I had it working on a 0710 istallation, now I have 0810 beta2 and can't find the right configuration any more.

Thanks Tim,
didin't recognise that I can find the backend in "computing". But I can't get it to work. I made the local changes in "Gerneral", set "Capture Card Setup" to Analog V4L capture card - input DVB, Added the Video Source "EIT", added the default channel table, choose this Video Source into the Input connections. And I think there is my problem, I can click "fetch channels from listings source" but not the button "Scan for channels". I don't see any channels in the channel editor and in there I can't click channel scan either.....
When I go into the frontend there are no channels to watch and I am asked if I want to reset the backend because there is a problem. It doesn't matter if I choose yes or no - makes no difference. Kinda hard to explain, but maybe someone has a DVB-s Card in there and we can compare the settings.

Ok, I understand. I finally got my machine running now and It already wanted to give an ip adress to one of the notebooks in the network. But no problem, giving steady IPs to all the computers in the network should solve the Problem for now. Actually, I want to use the machine as a stand alone, to get used to it, but later I want some more in Kitchen, Basement and Bathroom. But one after another.... The UI is really great and I hope I get it working like I want to. After the Problem I solved with your help I have to configure the mythtv setup with my hauppage DVBs Card. I already had this running on 0710 on a very old machine for testing, so I hope to get this thing running soon. I already found some informations about it - If someone need to get the hauppage running, maybe this helps you out: http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-NOVA-S-PlusIt's always hard to get something like this running on a system I never worked with (Linux). But it's absoltutely the best MediaCenter I have seen. And belive me, I have tried some of them....

Thanks alot! I'm not sure if it solved my problem, I was changing the ip into a static ip in my network (eth0), saving the file and after I write sudo apt-get update it starts Regenerating the Orbiter again. I will see if it does more then that.
What is the eth0:1 adress for? I just have 1 Network Card inside (onboard ASUS P5QL-EM), but it shows me the 2 adresses just like yours did.
And thanks again for explaining editing a file to an idiot - thats much easier then I thought - aslong as you know how to do it ;-)

Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you have Problems installing MCE by the DVD-Version. Maybe your version of 8.10 is broken? Do you have a chance trying the DVD on another system? My hardware is pretty new also, and 8.10 was running from the beginning....
