Add to my list:
- When browsing recorded tv shows: group them properly by title, season, and episode - preferably sorted by air date or original air date.
- Add a similar feature to group series of movies (star wars, harry potter, james bond, etc) and the ability to sort by release date and/or episode number.
- In both of these cases, we should have groups when there are more than 1 item to group, and simply list the rest normally.  (Don't want to have to go into a group to see one item.)

HDPVR support would be great - but we should try to avoid making our own Myth package that we would have to maintain ourselves, if possible.  There's more than enough stuff to worry about already.

Similar comment for VDPAU in Xine.

Do you have audio in Myth over digital with it configured like that?

Agreed - things like this belong under marketplace.

Things I would consider paying for (some of these might be irrelevant, I'm not up to date):
- When displaying media lists, sort titles and performers starting with "The " (not case sensitive, of course) by whatever is after "The "
- When displaying the details of a certain media file with a long "synopsis" field, allow the user to read the entirety of the synopsis with either a scroll or full window.  (Currently it gets truncated)
- When importing a DVD, set the metadata to "DVD" quality.  Allow the user to select if it's a "Movie" or whatever the rest of the choices are.
- Add the ability to have separate scenarios for common media searches. (Examples: "Recorded TV", "James Bond", "Horror Movies", "Blues Tunes", etc)  I've tried to get the right sequence of commands to make this happen, but have been unable.  I'm not sure if this requires code modifications, or just a bit of documentation
- Add functionality to MythTV recorded TV playback remote for commercial skipping (I sent you the work I did on this a while back)

Be more specific - what do you mean "cannot access internet"?

Do you mean that you can't resolve hostnames? Try running
dig @127.0.0.1 www.google.com
to test hostname resolution.

Are you not getting an IP address assigned by DHCP?  Run ifconfig to check

Can you not ping your gateway?  Run ping {your gateway IP as it is in ifconfig}

Is your routing table correct? Run route -n

Yes, I tried that switch - no change.  I don't have any AC-3 streams to play from Myth anyway.

I have a similar issue with the onboard audio of the M2N.

In the web admin, go to wizard --> Devices --> Media Directors.  On the media director in question, select "Manual configuration" in the dropdown for audio output, and activate AC-3 pass-through.  You will need to force reload the router at a minimum to apply this change, sometimes a reboot is needed.

With this configuration, I get AC-3 over fiber for all videos and DVDs, and I have stereo over fiber for music - but no sound at all in MythTV (live or recorded).  In some cases I am able to make the change without a reboot - in these cases I do have sound in Myth.

I have not found where the configuration is lacking, nor have I determined what the audio output "Manual configuration" setting actually does.

King, that's not against the norm at all...

LMCE is more than capable of controlling external devices over IR, RS232, or other serial communications.  Setup Wizard takes care of all the complexity for you - you just tell it what things you have and what they are connected to and, taaa-daaa - A/V pipes are created along with scenarios to switch to your devices.  I use this feature all the time to use the Wii, the CD changer, and the live cable box - none of which are connected to LMCE computers at all, except by IR via USB-UIRT.

If you want to get really tricky, you can connect the output of your device directly to your TV and another lower-quality output to LMCE.  Then when you activate the on-screen menu, you still see the picture, but maybe with the expected 1-3 second lag.  There's a post on the form by Tschak and I believe there is a wiki article all about how this works - I don't have a need for this feature, so I don't use it right now.

I'm assuming the station list isn't being stored to the database yet, correct?  Are there plans in the works to do this?  If so, I would expect a notification on the orbiter after the first update is complete, and I would expect all list update tasks to be visible somewhere - most likely pending tasks.  From what I remember, the Myth guide data update does something similar to this by using a little wrapper script around mythfilldatabase.

I agree that internet radio doesn't fit the current browsing pattern.  I'm not sure what the correct answer is - duct tape is holding well until someone finds the right way.  Searching by who is currently performing on all stations would be a neat trick, but probably pretty difficult to get working reliably, and not terribly useful.

Having to reopen the stream several times is annoying, and really the only "problem" that I saw.  If the main issue is a timeout, then I would say it needs to be increased or a more creative way to avoid the failure could be possible.  Some user feedback while the download and initial buffering is going on would be awesome - "Downloading playlist, click to cancel", "Buffering... click to cancel" are the two pop-ups that come to mind.

Great work so far.

The iOrbiter might provide some insight into what needs to be done to get the data needed and send the proper commands.

I just tried this last night - great work!

Here's how it went down:
1) I added the Shoutcast Plug-In device to DCE Router
-) This caused a software download notification to appear on the Orbiter
-) When complete, I was instructed to reload the router
2) The Shoutcast source did not show up on my DT360
-) The Orbiter binary on the device is clearly too far out of date
3) After a regen, the Shoutcast source was available on the web orbiter
4) The station list loaded (I didn't go through any configuration), though it took a bit
-) It would be great to have some sort of status indication - does the list load show up in Pending Tasks or elsewhere?  MythTV Plug-in sends a notification to all orbiter screens when all the TV guide data is downloaded - maybe this would be appropriate?
5) The Genres were then available for browsing
-) Even though I was in "Title" sort, I was still seeing genres... is this normal? is this correct?  Radio stations don't exactly fit the same attribute structure as single songs, so this might be tricky...
6) I selected a station, and hit play
7) A warning about no device being available to play the media popped up
8) I repeated 6 + 7 about 7 or 8 times
9) Music started playing
10) Future station selections did not display the warning

Overall, I'd say it went pretty well. Thanks for your contribution!

I'm assuming this is your ticket - http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/ticket/169 - in the future, put a name or e-mail so someone can get back in touch with you.

Can you test out that patch and see how it does? comment in the ticket with your results.
