76  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Could not start ksmserver. Check installation. on: February 01, 2010, 01:27:18 am
Could it be a problem with the latest version of kde, think I read somewhere, that upgrading to the latest one is causing issues? U guys would probably know better than me how to revert back to the previous version and give it a try.

I did the dvd install and the Download install. Same result for both, other than the ability to install a md with a the download. Nothing seems to work on The md.

Hi, I keep getting "Could not start ksmserver. Check your installation"  when trying to open the kubuntu desktop. Reinstalled, tried apt-get etc, am I out of the loop? Is there something I can do?

Thanks fellas, axis cameras do look good, but i agree they are expensive. I wanted at least 3 until i looked up the price, $1000 a piece, i didnt even bother to look at the more expensive ones lol. For 3000 i can feed 3 pitbulls and buy a rusty shotgun for A nightguard lol.

It appears that Android 2.0 will have RFCOMM support. Please see the following like for details.

http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.0.html

saw this:

# Connect to a remote device using RFCOMM and send/receive data
# Advertise RFCOMM services and listen for incoming RFCOMM connection

I have seen posts from HTC stating that they are working on an update for their devices currently running android 1.5 and 1.6. i assume other devices will be compatible also. In addition there are several upcoming devices with 2.0. My phone had a drinking problem (got wet with rum at a party lol) I'm pondering whether or not to go with a android for the possibility of using it with Lmce. any opinions?

Hello, has this problem ever been fixed?

no, I've been checking with every update, no joy.  Ironically, I financially contributed to the gyro remote development even though i knew i wasn't going to buy any gyro remotes.  But i thought it would be good to give back and say thanks to Thom for all his great work and it was the gyro support that messed up the GenericHiddriver lol.  I gave with one hand and slapped myself with the other lol.  Wink

After reading all you peoples tips I finally managed to get passed the 'Diskless Setup Failed' message. The MD set up for a long time and now wants to try to load the AV Wizard but it fails and gives a Blue screen with the message 'AVWizard Failed to setup X'

Am now in exactly the same situation.

I did try having a play with the hardware acceleration options in LinuxMCE Admin, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

May I also say thanks for all of the help so far. Am trying to add relevant information to the wiki as we go.

well i tried another md, same result. has anybody got an md working or solution?

After reading all you peoples tips I finally managed to get passed the 'Diskless Setup Failed' message. The MD set up for a long time and now wants to try to load the AV Wizard but it fails and gives a Blue screen with the message 'AVWizard Failed to setup X' I searched the forum for this problem and found a lot of threads about this problem. I've tried a number of possible solutions like manually installing the latest Nvidia driver on the MD but I get stuck with the same message again. Maybe I should mention that my Core has no Nvidia graphics card (it's an Intel MB with onboard graphics) because I'm not using my Core for video playback. I tried this thread http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=8460.msg56517#msg56517 and it worked fine but when I tried the 'dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xorg-server' it says: /usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: xorg-server is not installed. Again I searched the forum for this but can't seem to find a solution.
I've got so far so i really would like to get to the AV Wizard. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help so far

same problem, mine is a intel board using a sis chip, dont think nvidia drivers will apply, would it? its a D201GLY2 board and it was giving me ui2 (not so good though) with the last alpha release.

it seems the Android stack has its own unique problems, particularly that the phone itself cannot be an RFCOMM server, which is required by our bluetooth code.

thom, check this out:

http://code.google.com/p/android-bluetooth/

Do you think It still will be a problem?  I was looking into the android dev resources and about to dig into a android  tutorial, but if it android is useless with lmce, i wont bother. thanks

am i correct in stating that the only fix is going back to alpha 2.37?
