Hi Emiku

I see you live in denmark :) I am also danish.

>Btw. I read that the setback method was the only economical way to do it, it would be too expensive to lower the temperature beblow 2-3 degree C and then later heat it up again.
Where did you read that ?

So is it possible somehow to control "fjernvarme" ? (Sorry folks, but no idea what the English word is.)
I would not mind controling the temperature of the whole house to the same level.

Thanks :)

Hallo Hari,

Sorry, thought i had posted i users ... can it be moved ?

Thanks :) but this one would then only be half of the switching part, one would also need a 507001 in the lamp in the ceiling - right ?
http://www.zwave4u.com/products/en/Lighting-and-Power/Merten-CONNECT-Switch-Insert-Receiver.html

But can this 506004 be used for more than one device ? Meaning can I connect 4 different devices and it will be able to send four different trigger signals (turn on four different lights) ... ? Or does all four connections trigger the same signal/light ?

If it can control four things it would be a really nice thing :D One could use it for a lot of things. Like using normal PIR's and then connect four PIRS to it. Or smoke alarms or a Doorbell and windows contacts and so on ... Any idea how long the batery will last in this one ?

Back to the battery low question. Really nice that you have something in planning :)
But what about now ? If the device runs out of battery it will probably dissapear and will that be noticed ?

Thanks :)

Hallo Emiku,

Make sure it is the Danfoss RA-plus__W__ model =)
Whats so special about the W model ? It is the right one for Denmark/Europe ? Or the only one that works ?

But I can program a schedule for the RA-plus W then ?

Thanks

Hallo Hari,
be aware that it only supports setback for some degrees and no full controll (it is a setback schedule thermostat :-) )
Thanks for telling me :) I already read that before and am not 100% happy with that, but maybe there is a good reason for doing it that way. Is it maybe more economic on a daily basis ? But it would be nice if one could turn heat more down when one is on holidy ;)

And thanks for your good work on the z-wave part of LinuxMCE :)

Hallo Hari and Sambuca,

I now tried the new version from sambuca and it now said the same as hari's version.
I actually remeber searching the internet befor getting the phone and it was mentioned in the sprecs that it would support jsr-82. But if it doesn't that would be shitty :( I will have to look if there are solutions for this ...

Thanks for now and keep up the good work both of you :)

Users / Z-wave how do I keep my old light switches ?
« on: January 09, 2009, 03:41:41 pm »
Hi,

I would like to use Z-wave for doorcontacts and maybe also movement sensors. And have been looking at the different z-wave products. Maybe I have overlooked something, but I did not find any switches that can be placed behind the old on/off switch so that the old switch and LinuxMCE can switch the lights.
Reason for keeping the old on/off switches are that the Merten & co don't look like those I have got and I would really not like to change all switches in my house ;)

Have you got any suggestions ? Or do I have to use PLCBUS or other things ?

And another question - what happens when the battery of a Z-wave product is empty ? Is the device shown as missing or does LinuxMCE tell me to replace batteries (that would be nice ;) ) ?

Background info.
I am building a LinuxMCE system in my new house and at the moment I am looking into the things I need.
I live in Denmark (Europe)

Thanks in advance :)

Users / Is there any Smoke alarm z-wave ? Or other solution as gc100 ?

Hi,

I would like to have some smoke alams, but are there any good solutions ?
Is there any Smoke alarm that works with z-wave ?
I did not find anyone selling the GC100 in Denmark/Germany yet. And was also thinking if there is a cheaper solution ? The GC100 does also not have that many inputs.

I don't mind the smoke alarm to have cabeling as I can drill through the ceiling from the roof.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

I am into testing some things before i setup a linuxmce in my new house. And right now I am trying to get my HTC Diamond into talking to linuxmce. But unfortunatly the JavaMO from hari (vt100.at/javamo) tells me java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError when I am starting it. And the newer version from Sambuca tells med that the application is not developed to work with this phone.

It runs Window Mobile 6.1 with Esmertec's Jbed Java VM. If that helps.

Thanks for spending your time working on LinuxMCE :)

Hello Andrew,

did you get into testing the Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H ?

If I look around it probably needs a newer kernel - or is it possible without ?

Quote
You should be able to get 790FX/SB600 working in Ubuntu 7.10 without any issues as they are fully supported by kernel 2.6.22. However for 780G/SB700, you will need 2.6.24 for full support. Since Ubuntu 8.4 Beta ships with 2.6.25, my guess is that it will work.

Hi,

OK, I am sorry - now I found it in the Wiki.  Hmm, must have been blind  ::)
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Network_Settings
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Why_dual_network_cards%3F

The problem with searching in the forum is that you indeed get loads of answers and there I did not find the in-deep-answer for my question. Maybe I should have read them _all_ before asking or searched better in the Wiki. Sorry for that folks.

I do understand it is a pain in the a.. answering the same questions over and over again ;) I have also seen this problem very offen in other forums ... And therefore I am allways searching first before asking.

But thanks for leading me to searching the wiki again :)

Greetings
Christian
