Users / VDR - how can I see the VDR log output ?
« on: March 08, 2009, 12:11:39 am »
HI,

normally one can redirect the output of VDR to a logfile, but it does not seem to work with the runvdr on Linuxmce.

I tried changing the ">/dev/null" to ">/tmp/vdr.log" in runvdr but that only gave me an empty file. also giving VDR "-v 3" did not help. Is that somehow disabled ?

That would help me alot trying to find out why VDR is not working. At the moment I can only guess  :(

Users / VDR - searching for the VDR sources ...
« on: March 07, 2009, 11:58:36 pm »
Hi,

I am using the version 1.6.0-6-LMCE0710-10 that niz32 posted. And would like to do some small changes. And it is definetly not Vanilla VDR (meaning stock or standard VDR). There is atleast the IPTV, Early sync and probably some other patches in that sources.

With standrd VDR some (more) of the remote buttons does not work (Stop for example).  Also Live TV does not relly work either (might have someting to do with the streamdev plugin).

And I cant believe that some are selling systems working like the VDR does in my system right now.

Please help me getting the sources  :)

Hi,

I have searched what I could but found no working solution for getting the colour keys on my MCE remote woring with VDR  :(
I spent the whole evening and night (7 hours) looking into logs, trying out things but did not get any further.

I am using an USB/UIRT and some of the buttons on my Phillips SRM 5100 was different than the standard MCE remote. The color buttons and the "Text" buttons i then added using thge wiki howto. But the keys dont work in VDR ...

Has anyone got an idea how I can get them working?

Do they work using LIRC instead ? I really wanted to only have the USBUIRT in the living room, but if it works i will try some LIRC, maybe with another infrared reciever - for example the one that came with the remote.

Any guidelines would be really appreciated  :)

Here is what happens :

Arrow Up/Down..OK
Vol up/down  ...no effect (reciever not yet configured in lnuxmce)
Ch  up/down  ...no effect
Live Tv  OK
Mute  mutes and unmute sound/does toggle subtitles

red  no effect
green    ui2 menu bar plus osd
yellow      flashes light/vol  'rose'
blue   no effect
Text   does nothing and leaves error in /var/log/pluto/50_USB_UIRT_0038.log
Back  Shows the main LinuxMCE menu, second press removes it again
Stop  Stops VDR replay and stops LiveTV too - I am back in the screensaver Sad should only stop VDR replay.

Users / VDR: how are you handeling timers on the MD's ?
« on: February 28, 2009, 02:16:15 am »
Hi,

If I see it right then VDR timers created on the MD are not transferred to the Core. How do you handle that ?

remotetimers plugin ? Or is there another solution ?

My MD has got no recording equipment, everything (DVB-s and DVB-T) is going into the core.

Users / How do I "Import" old VDR recordings into VDR ?
« on: February 12, 2009, 10:21:52 pm »
Hi,

I have got an old system with around 600GB of VDR recordings that I would like to Import into LinuxMCE :)

So I just tried copying one of them over and it was not that succesully. The recording is named "%Bad_Boys_II" but came up as "Bad Boys I" which is not really the same ;)
EDIT: it seems like it did put the 001.vdr file in the "Bad Boys I" recording and 002.vdr as a seperate recording !?

Should I remove the "%" or what is the problem here ?

Is there some advice or information anywhere how this is handled. I did not find something yet ...

Here is the whole path : %Bad_Boys_II/2006-09-17.22.24.25.99.rec/001.vdr

EDIT: Oh yes, it did not like the "|" in info.vdr either, made "boxes" out of them.

Hi,

I have ordered some normal movement detectors and wanted to use them together with the Merten 506004 (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Merten_506004_Connect_Radio_Transmitter_FM_4gang) but now it struck me - maybe it won't work !?

Can the 506004 be configured as a surveilance device ?

I can still cancel the order, so I would like some feedback on this ;)

Users / VDR video directory - where do I put it ?
« on: February 12, 2009, 11:48:59 am »
Hi,

I am just installing my core and looking into the place where VDR stores it recordings. Well at the moment it is /home/public/data/VDRTV/video - that is the system drive on my core. So now I have a RAID 5 drive with three disks and that has the Pluto structure. Would I then create a new directory and give it the same rights/owners as the other dirs and then link

/home/public/data/VDRTV/video

to (in my example)

/mnt/device/31/public/data/VDRTV/video

and put the video files on device 31 ?
Or how is this supposed to be ?

BTW. As one can have several video dirs with VDR, we can also use video.00 video.01 and so on to put recordings on different discs.

Hi,

I have recorded some things using DVB-T in denmark and it plays very well when using VDR recordings menu.
But replaying them with the Media listing looks awfull. Lots of Interlacing around Peoples bodies and elsewhere :(

VDR was changed in setup.conf to use tvtime :
xineliboutput.Video.Deinterlace = tvtime
xineliboutput.Video.DeinterlaceOptions = method=GreadyH,cheap_mode=0,pulldown=none,framerate_mode=full,judder_correction=1,use_progressive_frame_flag=1,chroma_filter=0,enabled=1

Btw. found a link explaining the options (someone asked in another topic) : http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/vdr/2008-July/017296.html

How can I change the the normal replay to also do interlacing ?

Btw. would it be possible to remove the resume.vdr files from the media listing, does not look very nice ;)

Thanks a lot to everybody working on integrating VDR into LinuxMCE :)

Users / Z-wave how do I keep my old light switches ?
« on: January 09, 2009, 03:41:41 pm »
Hi,

I would like to use Z-wave for doorcontacts and maybe also movement sensors. And have been looking at the different z-wave products. Maybe I have overlooked something, but I did not find any switches that can be placed behind the old on/off switch so that the old switch and LinuxMCE can switch the lights.
Reason for keeping the old on/off switches are that the Merten & co don't look like those I have got and I would really not like to change all switches in my house ;)

Have you got any suggestions ? Or do I have to use PLCBUS or other things ?

And another question - what happens when the battery of a Z-wave product is empty ? Is the device shown as missing or does LinuxMCE tell me to replace batteries (that would be nice ;) ) ?

Users / Is there any Smoke alarm z-wave ? Or other solution as gc100 ?
« on: January 09, 2009, 03:33:43 pm »
Hi,

I am building a LinuxMCE system in my new house and at the moment I am looking into the things I need.
I live in Denmark (Europe) and plan on using Z-wave for doorcontacts and maybe also movement sensors.

I would like to have some smoke alams, but are there any good solutions ?
Is there any Smoke alarm that works with z-wave ?
I did not find anyone selling the GC100 in Denmark/Germany yet. And was also thinking if there is a cheaper solution ? The GC100 does also not have that many inputs.

I don't mind the smoke alarm to have cabeling as I can drill through the ceiling from the roof.

Thanks in advance :)
