Users / Re: Media Storage
« on: December 04, 2012, 03:38:25 pm »
Hi there,

I am not an expert but I can answer based on my experience. First of all, If you have a lot of videos (huge files) I would suggest that you format the drive with xfs filesystem.

ans 1: best and fast way to move media over to new drive is via ssh from terminal. If you are not comfortable, then I would fire up the KDE desktop and copy paste the traditional way. Its feasible to attach the hard drive physically rather than moving the content over network. Permission issue is beyond my knowledge but if you run " sudo nautilus" can get the job done.

Ans 2 : Simple answer is "Yes". (as far as I know LMce) that is the beauty of the system.

I don't understand the last question.

Personally, I had the Haupaugue (sp?) HVR-1600 (2 of them, actually) and I pulled them both, because they were such a pain in the backside to configure.
I rely on the four tuners in my 2 HDhomeruns.

I agree the HVR-1600 are pain, but once configured properly they work flawless. awesome cards.

I have something to report on Denovo Mini functinality.

All the buttons work as expected however , When I go to computing, lets say going on youtube.

I search for some video, and while typing If i make a mistake, I try to delete mistake with "Backspace" and it goes Back on orbiter !!

The BackSpace works as Back on all other orbiter screen that is what we want, but while computing, I think it should do its job as Backspace.

Don't know, I feel like worth mentioning a point !

Users / Need help to force redetect the media hard drive. (solved)
« on: August 18, 2012, 06:18:48 am »
I deleted my media hard drive from the device tree on webadmin. Hoping that on next reboot the system will redetect the hard drive and I can have it scan again for media.

Unfortunately folloing the rule # 1 still I dont not see message on any orbiter about the hard drive.

The drive is also not locked under unknown devices .

Never mind,, it got solved by following http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,12505.0.html

Users / need help to set up logitech pro 9000 [solved]
« on: October 29, 2011, 11:23:16 pm »
Hello everyone,

I know some of you out there using logitech pro 9000 successfully. I have followed the steps from wiki but nothing comes up on my camera view under webadmin nor on orbiter.

Any inputs will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Edit :
Sad to see, no body replied, however I got my webcam up and working but doing some here and there with the device template of generic analogue camera.
Also, wiki's page is really helpful as you will need those two packager namely, uvccapture and luvcview. the wiki does not specify about having them on core or MD so I installed on both.

Thank you.

Users / Mythtv upnp AV media server Question
« on: May 17, 2011, 03:41:14 am »
Hello guys,

Probably this must be a stupid question after using the lmce for over a year. anyways,,

Where are those directories located, namely music, pictures, video that appears on mythtv's AV media server?

I want to add some music to mythtv's music folder so that my external media player device can see it out of the box. I do not have much luck with mediatomb these days.

Thanks much in advance.

I am even more confused with the answers here, in short,, is SSD good for a core or not??

I am also looking to invest in SSD.

My observation is if you dedicate a hard drive for system files only, and NO media at all, the installation hardly uses 40 gb at the max.

So, my question is will 50 gb be enough for core? ( I know recommended is 80gb) just curious.

thanks in advance.
