Users / need help to set up logitech pro 9000 [solved]
« on: October 29, 2011, 11:23:16 pm »
Hello everyone,

I know some of you out there using logitech pro 9000 successfully. I have followed the steps from wiki but nothing comes up on my camera view under webadmin nor on orbiter.

Any inputs will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Edit :
Sad to see, no body replied, however I got my webcam up and working but doing some here and there with the device template of generic analogue camera.
Also, wiki's page is really helpful as you will need those two packager namely, uvccapture and luvcview. the wiki does not specify about having them on core or MD so I installed on both.

Thank you.

Users / Mythtv upnp AV media server Question
« on: May 17, 2011, 03:41:14 am »
Hello guys,

Probably this must be a stupid question after using the lmce for over a year. anyways,,

Where are those directories located, namely music, pictures, video that appears on mythtv's AV media server?

I want to add some music to mythtv's music folder so that my external media player device can see it out of the box. I do not have much luck with mediatomb these days.

Thanks much in advance.

Users / support for nvidia GT 430 (SOLVED)
« on: March 10, 2011, 03:50:28 am »
This is probably asking too much at a time when developers are busy for 10.04.
I just purchased a card since I got a decent deal on and the card is GT 430 with 1gig ddr3 ram. here is my stupid questions,

I am still running 8.10 and the max nvidia driver supported is 195 glx
When I check nvidia website, i think the card I got will not or might not properly work with 195 as nothing says on their website.

I it possible I can manually install 260 driver on my MD? If yes, I think I also need to edit the script under /usr/pluto/bin so that I does not look for 195. I am not sure but thats my understanding.

I do not want to bother developers on channel just for my case.

I hope someone will guide me here to get my one and only MD working. Why did I buy 430 , because , I tried 210 which made little too noise, I tried 240 it worked like charm but putting just 10$ more I got 430 which could be little future proof. Please help me to get my little puppy working,

Thanking in advance,

take care.

Users / Hulu not working_help please (SOLVED)
« on: January 17, 2011, 08:06:54 pm »
okey I am afraid to ask for the support since I have installed flash manually.

I setup Lmce from snapshot 23589. create and MD image and saw that youtube was missing flash player. so I downloaded installer.deb from adobe on MD's desktop. ssh into MD and ran dpkg -i installer.deb and I got my youtube videos working.

after that I installed Hulu follwoing wiki's instructions from MD's software module edit tab.

Now when clicking hulu from orbiter , I have a message saying

"version 0.9.8 is now available."

Hope someone helps.

Thank you.

Users / Dlink DSM-510 accessing files from Core via UPnP
« on: December 31, 2010, 12:40:53 am »
its been a long time since I have this device named Dlink DSM-510. It is a little network media player with hdmi and optical audio output. This device is very picky about the media formats it can play. for example, it only plays, avi, xvid, mpeg2 and 3 etc. I think I can share my story to help some one at the same time I do have few questions if some one can help.

Basically Like I said, you need to have some .avi video file in your core. when you connect this device with core from internal network it will see basically two upnp servers .

1. ) Mediatomb
2.) dcerouter mythtv AV media server

good news is, under mythtv media server, if you have recored shows there from myth. the player plays them out of the box. mythtv records the show in .mpg file and I believe this player does play mpeg format. So nothing much to do. Unfortunately we have our own movies or other video files under lmce directory and those might be .avi files.  The player sees those files under mediatomb server but they are grayed out and they might not play saying unsupported.

This is what I have done to get a little success.

we need to edit config.xml file located at /etc/mediatomb/config.xml with your favorite editor.

here is my config.xml look like..

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<config version="1" xmlns="" xmlns:xsi="" xsi:schemaLocation="">
    <ui enabled="yes">
      <accounts enabled="no" session-timeout="30">

The line appears in red are added by me in order to make this dlink see the .avi files and play them.

after you edit the file you need to restart the mediatomb server, I dont know how to do it so I reboot the entire system.
Note : those who keep their media on separate drive other than system drive. they need to map the drive for mediatomb database. you can add your public/data folder with + icon(see the picture attached, where the cursor is) from media tomb server user interphase.

found under...  webamin ---> Advanced ----> configuration ------> upnp server.

once you add the the folder it will appear on mediatomb's server.
Also,, Mediatomb does not auto scan any changes from the directory. hence if you add or remote any files it will not do therefore set the scan criteria by clicking the + with circle right next and set the seconds and basic scan. it will do the job. full scan might take longer. I dont know.

Thats all and you will see your public folder on your mediatomb server and it will play .avi files on DSM-510. Audio plays right out of the box. so,, nice little device to act as music spot.  I am talking over wireless connection.

Some of my movie files with .avi format streams flawless. and recorded show from mythtv from its AV media server plays flawlessly.

Thats all to say for now. I will my questions in the next post.

Users / troubleshoot : system hangs need help [solved for now]
« on: July 21, 2010, 06:01:08 pm »
Hello guys,

I have been using linuxmce since a while now. my system core/hybrid 8.10 is running just fine. Except there is one little problem. And I dont know how should I solve it.

The Problem : system starts and runs just normal in the evening, next day morning when I wake up, I see it hanged. I cannot move cursor nothing. Only thing I have to do is hard reboot meaning turn it off by holding power key and turn back on after a while.  Sounds like heat issue but my case is running almost 6 fans !!

MY guess : unfortunately I have refurbished 8800GT and I am guessing that after a while the GPU is dying.

I dont know how to read logs. If someone can guide me through. how can i find out what is going on?

thank you all in advance.

take it easy. :)

Users / Hauppauge HVR 1600 _ device template
« on: November 16, 2009, 06:03:54 am »
Hello there,

I am sorry to bother the developers who are really working hard at the moment. I know one of them using hauppauge 1600 successfully, my research says ,, it should be plug in play in these recent kernels. looks like its driver cx18 is stable as well.

Are we ever going to support the card ?  I have sitting it and HD homerun is little bit expensive at the moment to afford :P

I hope some one reply me to get this card to get going. Also,, looks like a lot of user has this card already. If you support the card, it will help others too.

Thank you all guys. God bless you.

take care.

Installation issues / Hauppauge HVR 1600.........There is a hope !!!
« on: September 22, 2009, 07:24:16 am »
Hello guys,

Little intro. I cannot call myself newbiee anymore becasue a year ago, I build linuxmce 7.10 and got it working but then I did not have much money to get cool stuffs so I had to shut down the project. after one year I am giving it a try again. in mean while i have following hardwares purchased.
1. Asus P5Q mother board. (that has one gigabyte lan port on it)
2. Asus Xonar D2 series 7.1 sound card
3. another PCI gigabyte lan adapter
4. Hauppauge HVR 1600 tv tuner card.
5. NVidia 7200 series graphic card.

I tested all my hardwares with Ubuntu one by one. Here is my story for Hauppauge 1600 HVR card.

I tried to set up mythtv on ubuntu 8.10 just a few months ago. during installation I found that nvidia graphic is conflicting with the driver. I followed the guide on this page.

According to this guide, by adding "vmalloc=256M" to /boot/grub/menu.lst file solved my problem and I got card working with mythtv on Ubunut 8.10.

Now, just five days ago I have installed linuxmce 8.10 fresh install and I got my Asus Xonar D2 sound card working just out of the box and got spdif optical output.

Followed by I tried to put Hauppauge 1600 in and when I booted up, It brings me to commandline login. where I can login.
Looks to me once I log in, I am in the home/user directory.
I can use pwd, ls commands and jump back and forth.:))
I have to admit that I am not a lot command person. I can just follow the steps.

I am hoping that going into the grub/menu.lst file and putting that value can solve the problem for me. but I am scared to give it a try without any expert opinion because Linuxmce is not as easy to reinstall as regular ubuntu :))

I am ready to give it a try, can some one help me here and tell me the step to follow please.....???

I will wait for the reply.

Thank you all.

Installation issues / Asus Xonar series soundcard
« on: December 10, 2008, 05:23:57 am »
I am gathering hardwares for my linuxmce.
My research says, recently Asus has come out with its Xonar series sound card and there are pretty good reviews of the card.
I am planning to buy Asus Xonar D2 PCI sound card..
These are quite powerful cards.
But looks like there is no driver so far for linux.

I wonder if Developers can come out with its driver solution...
Or should I try it on my system? I am ready to experiment if somebody ready to help me.

I shall wait until someone replies to my post.

Thank you.
