1201  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Making MYTHTV Interlace settings STICK after reboot or restart router on: April 07, 2009, 02:31:17 pm
I have also been plagued by this very same problem.

I found this in the source...

UpdateMythSetting("DeinterlaceFilter","bobdeint","*");

I guess i'll try changing it to "kernel" and recompile... i'll let ya know

Could somebody please explain to me what "the source" is in this context, and how do I open "the source" to edit any lines of code? Do I remove this line of code, or change it to "kernel" as suggested? Cheers.

Does anybody know if it is possible to get the ASUS Eee Box 202 without the hard disk, WiFi and all the m$ stuff?
1203  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: New installation - UI2 alpha blending with no tearing on: March 19, 2009, 06:37:23 pm
I get the tearing (horizontally at the top and bottom of the screen) using S-Video on a PAL TV (using an 7xxx nVidia card).

Yeah, I have the original one Smiley Doesn't like LMCE up it one little bit.
1205  LinuxMCE / Users / New mobile phone purchase immanent! on: March 18, 2009, 02:23:54 pm
Hello all,

Soon I am going to be purhcasing a new mobile phone, and was hoping we could have a chat about the best way to go.

I currently have an o2 XDA Orbit, which was ok, except that it didn't like being a mobile orbiter very much! (The phone would just die when I tried to run Orbiter). So are there any mobiles out there guaranteed to work? It would have to be a proper PDA, which would probably need to be running Windows Mobile I'm guessing?

I would definitely consider mobiles that DON'T use Windows Mobile, but I need features such as the calander and internet browser and things (not that I ever sync it with a Windows PC - I don't have one  Wink ). And no iPhones.  Smiley
1206  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Best Mainboard for hybrid device??? on: March 18, 2009, 02:02:53 pm
I have always got on quite well with MSI mobos. I think that their performance for the amount they cost is fantastic. Don't think I've ever spent more than £35 on one (mATX versions anyway), and have never had a problem.
1207  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: More info on the tearing problem on: February 20, 2009, 09:54:00 am
Is there any possibility at all that the tearing issue is a PCIe problem? Does everybody who is having the problem use a PCIe card? I mention this because I have the dreaded tearing as well, but only with my PICe nVidia card. My old hybrid had an AGP nVidia, and it worked perfectly.

Am I right in saying that the WebDT's onscreen keyboard can be used for web browsing, etc? Eliminating the need for a seperate keyboard? If I invested in a WebDT, could I also get rid of my gyro mouse?

I have one of these http://www.ebuyer.com/product/106486, seems to be pretty good.
1210  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Network boot through VirtualBox (running in Ubuntu) on: February 13, 2009, 09:23:10 am
Yes, VBox 2.1 handled it no problem! Cheers.

I still only have a lo interface - I'm not sure how it's working either, but it is! Boots everytime.

Thanks for your help.
1211  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Network boot through VirtualBox (running in Ubuntu) on: January 18, 2009, 04:35:48 pm
Ok, I have got slightly further with this.

Currently, when booting, my virtual LMCE media director hangs on "[53.846691] e1000: eth0: e1000_watchdog: NIC Link is Up 1000 Mbps Full Duplex, Flow Control: RX" during startup. This happened a number of times from the word go; however, on one occasion, the boot process continued and "setup.sh" ran like normal. However, since restarting, it is now hanging again at the aforementioned part of starting up.

My /etc/network/interfaces currently looks like this:
Code:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

...which looks nothing like yours, justnulling! Is all of that extra stuff necessary for this netboot in VBox to work?? I did try using that code (and replacing _USERNAME_ with my username), but "/etc/init.d/networking restart" gave me a funny error, plus I couldn't changed "eth0" to "tap1" in VBox network settings as per your suggestion.

I did, however, change "NAT" to "Host Interface" in the VBox network settings, but that was all I did to make it work (and give me the problem above!). Below those settings is a list of Host Interfaces, in which "eth0" appears (the only one).

Do I need to add something in /etc/network/interfaces? Or is there an option on the core I need to change in admin? Why on Earth would it work once, and not again?!

Any help would be much appreciated.
1212  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Do I have to use KDE? on: January 18, 2009, 02:07:19 pm
I felt very much the same as you when I first started out with LMCE, but now I am considering going over to KDE on my main PC. So my advice would be to "put up with" KDE, in order to learn as much about it as possible. You already have Gnome on your PC, so will quickly become an expert in both :-) And then you'll be able to see the advantages and disadvantages of one over the other (and then KDE in LMCE won't bother you so much).

Welcome to the forums.
1213  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Network boot through VirtualBox (running in Ubuntu) on: December 11, 2008, 10:38:01 am
Thanks for the reply! I shall try this as soon as my new PSU arrives.

What do you mean exactly by "don't forget to set the image to boot of the network"? Is this inside VBox, or is it something I need to do to the image stored on the core?

Cheers.
1214  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Network boot through VirtualBox (running in Ubuntu) on: December 10, 2008, 11:56:43 pm
Hmm, unfortunately I have moved away from VMWare. Were there any special options you had to enable that I might be able to apply to VBox?
1215  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Why doesn't the LinuxMCE channel list match the MythTV channel guide? on: November 30, 2008, 11:26:25 pm
Ok, cheers. Is there perhaps a file hiding somewhere that contains a list of all the TV channels, with the idea of modifying it?

If not, I could just move all of the unwanted channels to the end for now.
