Installation issues / Re: Problem with Asterisk latest update 8.10
« on: June 13, 2011, 05:28:01 pm »
Thanks a lot. It all seems to work now. I still have two errors on FreePBX (can be seen in attachment) but I can't remember if they've always been there. Do I just ignore them?

Asterisk already running on /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl.  Use 'asterisk -r' to connect.

I also did for sudo asterisk -r in case it also helps. It was a bit longer so I put it in pastebin.

Installation issues / Problem with Asterisk latest update 8.10
« on: June 13, 2011, 03:16:27 pm »
Hello, I got the update from 2011-06-12 (8.10) and now neither the intercom nor incoming calls work. I've got a Cisco 7971 and a SPA3000 that were all fully functional before. I posted a screen of FreeFBX which seem to give some errors. When rebooting the core I see [ OK ] for Asterisk starting.

If I need to provide with more info please be specific as I am a newbie at all this. The only reason why I got it work in the first place is step by step guides =)

Thanks in advance

Installation issues / Re: ATI chipsets: Seeking testers

L3mce are you still looking for testers? I'm back in the house with LMCE and got a few different ATI hardware. If yes, should I do the same steps like you wrote down above to all them (that behave similarly i.e. the failed to setup x)?

Re the thermaltake case, awsome bit of kit.....totally wasted on the linuxmce system.  The touch screen doesn't work at all, and because linuxmce doesn't do dual display
Out of curiosity how is it plugged in? If it's like a normal display you could probably get some type of splitter. I've got an HDMI splitter and if I remember correctly I did test it successfully (might be wrong). That won't get the Touch part to work of course but you'll have two screens.

Installation issues / Re: ZOTAC IONITX and PXE booting.
« on: May 17, 2011, 02:16:08 pm »
I don't know if it has an affect but mine is connected through three consecutive cables i.e. the ZOTAC is plugged into the wall which has an ethernet port/cable which is connected to a little box which has a female connector which is then connected to yet another cable which finally connects to the Netgear switch. My LMCE system is not at home but at the families holiday house which is 1.5hours away. I should go there again pretty soon so then I'll check to plug it in directly and also keep an eye on the speed. I don't know about other switches but mine changes colour on the port depending on the speed (100 vs 1000).

Netgear. Just a small and simple 8 port one.

What hardware are you guys using with the Zotac board? All MB switches? Anyone have a GB switch that works with it?
I've got one plugged in to a GB switch. The only issues I've had was just bad cables or ones gotten pulled out due to the ends being broken.

I never saw that the instructions you gave me were for me to carry out. I thought they were showing the proper way of doing the first part (that I had already done). I've been quite ill this past week and my LMCE system is actually at my family's holiday house. So it will be a few days before I get back there again. Though I should have at least one more ATI hardware to test, maybe more.

Sorry for the delay though.

There's also this option if you want to save a little bit of money and don't need a DVD drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856173001
As far as I know the ION2 doesn't give much improvements. The D525 is slightly faster and has DDR3 support but I don't think the latter does much. Also don't forget that Bluray and Linux is a no-go.

One thing I'm wondering is how an install works for devices like these when there's only one NIC.

Keep in mind that any computer connecting to the BT DSL router's wireless will be on the external network (they can still access the net of course). So if you want wireless on the internal network you will need to get an access point.

Hey, I tried:
Card: Radeon HD 6970 (actually a 6950 modded to 6970, but that shouldn't cause a problem?)
Versions: 810
Type: MD Creation
I get the failed to setup X error.

There is no /etc/X11/xorg.conf file but there is /etc/X11/xorg.conf.avwizard. I didn't edit the file as you stated it wasn't needed (nor do I know how to do it).
Unfortunately, if I need to do something else you have to write very detailed instructions because I'm quite the noob. On your first instructions I got stuck on the SSH step and had to look things up ^^
On a side-note how do you find the moon number of a device? I had to ssh with the internal ip.

I have a hard time recommending the P4 build if you need to buy more hardware to complete the system (though a Gb-NIC & case won't go old and can be used in a later system). A P4 might be faster than an Atom but the Atom-ION system you linked should do HD without too much trouble, it is silent and will draw very little power. Then if you later on decide to get a beefy core you can easily use the Atom system as an MD without it being in the way. It is a bit larger than the Acer Revo but you do have a DVD player.

Either way will work fine for a core although if you go for the Atom don't forget to buy a PCI-E NIC as well.

I thought I was the only one with the Ksudo issue. I'll add it to the wiki as it drove me nuts trying to find the error. Basically when you double click the icon you will receive some kind of Kdesudo error and you have to ignore it completely, not even press "OK" like Techstyle says.

Installation issues / Re: Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 Problem
« on: April 26, 2011, 03:18:06 pm »
I unfortunately can't answer your question but I can say that I've got an HVR4000 and an HVR1200. Both receive their drivers/firmwares like they should _but_ the 1200 isn't automatically added as a device. I haven't added it manually yet either as it still works (might be due to the 4000 being installed, I'm not sure). So assuming that you're using MythTV get into the MythTV-setup (under Computing) and see if the device is actually there configurable.

As you may know the drivers seem to be added in 2.6.32 however Mandingo has done some hard work to get many cards to be PnP with 8.10 (i.e. the card might work, just not get added as a device automatically)

Hopefully someone who is more than just a noob can help you a bit better :P
