92  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / mythtv switzerland / schweiz setup wanted / gesucht on: June 28, 2008, 05:37:32 pm
Hi all

I am living in switzerland and trying to setup mythtv with a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 MCE in linuxmce 710
The problem is that I get only about 4 different channels. This might come from that I dont understand settings like "pal , pal-bg , channel frequency table (cant choose switzerland !! maybe default or europe-west?) . Anybody has a hint for this kind of problem?
Thanks in advance!

Hi all

I am coming from this http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=1246.30 and http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Nintendo_WiiMote

Here is my problem:

unfortunately I already have a problem at the first step, using 710 (yes, my internet connection is working):

linuxmce@dcerouter:~$ root
bash: root: command not found
linuxmce@dcerouter:~$ sudo su
[sudo] password for linuxmce:
dcerouter_1:/home/linuxmce# apt-get install libcwiid0
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package libcwiid0
dcerouter_1:/home/linuxmce#

this does not work either (first step in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CWiiD:

dcerouter_1:/home/linuxmce# sudo apt-get install libcwiid0 lswm wmgui wminput
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package libcwiid0
dcerouter_1:/home/linuxmce

I tried ssh root@192.168.80.1 from a suse linux machine but it did not accept the password (which is accepted when i sudo su on the hybrid's kde)...

any idea?

thanks

94  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Preferred method of tv signal input? What is a capture card? on: June 21, 2008, 09:17:36 pm
Ok, thanks

So I guess the best is to use a tv card. But then the problem will be (and I guess its not a very simple problem to solve) how to make a card (dvb-c) work as my set top box, because it requires the "(decoder) card" from my provider...

I researched in google and I found out that our tv provider does "not allow" to recive dvb-c on the pc. This would mean that I would be restricted to dvb-t or dvb-s, right?

Any idea, pointer or hack for this problem?
cheers

Ok, so would it not be possible to input the tv signal right in to the graphics card? Or are there no cards with video input?
96  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Preferred method of tv signal input? What is a capture card? on: June 21, 2008, 11:09:11 am
Hi all
I do not understand what is the preferred method of tv signal input.

Lets say I have digital tv for which i have an external box I NEED to use (cause I need to use the (decryption) card provided) which is provided from my provider...where/to what piece of hardware do i connect it to send the tv signal to? to a so called capture device (which I do not know what it is! explanation and exampels (working in Switzerland/Europe) would be appreciated) or something else (which sould be installed on the core I guess)?

And if I just get analogue tv signal from my wall plug, then I connect it to a tv card installed on the core?
Or can you point me to the right documentation? I did not find it.

Thanks for help
cheers

98  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Wiimote: bluetooth stick with ssh ? on: June 20, 2008, 12:33:03 pm
Hi all
just a quick question:
according to http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Nintendo_WiiMote you need a bluetooth stick with "SSH". Unfortunately I could not find any with "SSH". Who can give advice on that?
Thanks

99  LinuxMCE / Compatible Products & Services / searching/suche: compatible Motherboard sold/shipped in/to Switerland on: June 16, 2008, 10:05:33 pm
Hi all

I am desperatly searching for LinuxMCE compatible mainboard sold in Switzerland or anywhere from where it could be shipped to Switzerland. I cant find a MSI K9N6SGM-V V2 or ASUS M2NPV-VM which seem to be the ones to work perfectly for LMCE. Any users out there who could help with a compatible mainboard?

Thanks

100  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Controlling TV channels of a external digital tv box on: June 16, 2008, 09:34:33 pm
Thanks for the help

So if I understand well i need to connect the USB UIRT by usb to the core/hybrid and then when I for example issue a command from an orbiter the USB UIRT will send it to my external box? Could it be possible that it would not work with any/with my box cause I am not in the US or OK?
Was that all or...
...Do I have to follow what is written about TuneToChannel.sh ? Cause as a linux newbi I understand very few of it.
And the i read something about "how to get the USB-UIRT to actually learn codes".

I I am not asking for a tutorial. I just want to make sure I invest my money in something that works , and i want to understand how it works before i buy it and if all this is possible for a non linux pro.

thanks in advance

101  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Controlling TV channels of a external digital tv box on: June 15, 2008, 08:55:37 pm
Hi all

Here in Switzerland to watch digital tv we have a box which we use by a remote controll and we connect to the tv by scart or antenna cable or something else. Now if I want to install a dvb-c tv card in my core system and then I want to watch tv on the media director, how do I controll the channels if the core is sitting in a different room? The box has no RS232 connection - is this a problem?
A pointer to the right section in a LMCE manual would be great, cause I cant find info about this point.
Need more iformation? Just tell me.

Thanks in advance for any help
cheers
