Almost there......

Finally able to load the driver.

I think it is the bug of Ubuntu, as per this site
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/115719

Thus, I did a force module load

I edited "options" in /etc/modprobe.d

and added:
options cx88xx card=48

I was successfull in loading the driver.

Additional information:

I also have checked if the modules are loaded, and it looks like they are:

Anything else I need to do / check.

Everytime I select TV, a screen will show up that myhttv will do the pre-scaling.  Then followed by a BLANK screen, after 30-secs or so, it will just go back to the MCE main screen.

Thanks.

Hi,

Kword TV Tuner has been installed and looks like it has been autodetected. However, MythTV cannot recognize it.

Is there any driver I still need to load?  Appreciate the assistance

Users / (SOLVED) Sound Card Not recognised or problem in installation
« on: June 19, 2008, 02:51:40 am »
I was finally able to solve my problem:

1. Open /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base with the following command:
    sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

2. Add this line at the end "options snd-hda-intel model=auto"

3. Back to the shell and type sudo modprobe snd-hda-intel

Reboot

Now I can hear sound using AV Wizard

Hi,

I will be using a 64-bit AMD microprocessors. Does it mean I can also use i386 version of LinuxMCE for the installation and it will be more stable?

There will be an update to lmce-vdr soon... its in testing now. This will definitely include a much updated mce remote functionality with some bug fixes (and all vdr remote functions are now mapped nicely) and it also fixes a number of tricky little bugs in the vdr-plugin thats sometimes cause LinuxMCE to display a black screen (UI2 & menus work but no TV picture). These are not bugs in vdr but in how we've integrated it in the plugin. We are testing an update for these now...

Streaming to MD's and to Windows & Linux desktops using vdradmin-am and vlc or mplayer is also being tested now. But I cant say yet if this will make it into this update or a subsequent one.

All the best

1. The Changelog 0710 states that " Integrated VDR to LMCE and added support for few dvb-s cards"
    http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/ChangeLog_0710

Any idea if DVB-C card support has been included?

2. Any timeline as to the update of LMCE-VDR?

Users / Re: Multiple (ie 2-4) TV Tuners in 1 CORE
« on: June 15, 2008, 04:20:38 pm »
Pardon my ignorance in this area.

My provider mentioned that:
----------------------------------------------
DIGIBOX
SkyCable Digital is using a DVB-C Box, which can also be called a Digital Set-top Box or simply called a “DIGIBOX”.

With the "DIGIBOX", you can avail these functionalities such as:
= EPG =
---------------------------------------------
Thus, when I subscribe they will provide the DVB-C Box.

With the LinuxMCE installation, can I just physically connect the COAX cable (link to provider's digital broadcast) to the DVB-C connector of the PCI card install in LinuxMCE, without using the Digibox?

Will the setup be:

A) provider ---> digibox ---> DVB-C PCI Card --> Linux MCE

or

B) provider ----> DVB-C PCI card ---> Linux MCE

Thanks.

Users / Linux MCE and Squeezebox integration?
« on: June 15, 2008, 11:50:46 am »
Hi,

Currently, I have a squeezecenter running on CentOS and would like to migrate everything to Linux MCE.

In this wiki, it show that Squeezebox is plug and play:
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Use_network_audio_players_for_a_whole-house_music_solution

1. Is it same to assume that squeezecenter has been integrated in Linux MCE?
2. Can Softsqueeze be loaded as well? Reason being is that I would like to just play the music using the speakers attached to the Core or Hybrid PC.

Thanks.

Users / HP Proliant ML115 - is this powerful enough for a CORE?
« on: June 13, 2008, 08:15:48 am »
Hi,

Is the specs of HP powerful enough for a CORE with 4 MDs?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Processor(s)
Dual-Core AMD Opteron Processor Model 1214 (2.2 GHz) Option Kit

Cache Memory
512KB Level 2 cache

Memory
1 GB PC2-6400 0 ECC (DDR2-800 MHz) (1 x 1 GB)

Integrated NIC
Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5722 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe

Storage Controller
HP Embedded 4 Port SATA Controller with embedded RAID (0,1,5)

Hard Drive
160GB SATA HDD

Internal Storage
Maximum 2TB (4 x 500GB) SATA

Optical Drive
16x SATA DVD-ROM

Form Factor
Micro ATX Tower (4U)
------------------------------------------

I will add 1 more NIC and eventually, 4 more HD for Raid5.

Please advise if this is already a good powerful CORE.

Thanks.

Hi,

For those who have experienced using PLCBUS with MCE automation, appreciate if you can advise if its compatibility. Will there be any installation issue with MCE?

The reason I asked is that PLCBUS is not mentioned and the wiki and would like to ensure that there will be no problem, if I purchase the PLCBus devices.

Thanks for the info.

Also, I have learnt that my provider has the availability of DVB, thus shifting from analog.

They will be using DVB-C Box.

I am assuming that I will still need a hardware decoding card, right? Is Happauge DVB-C compatible with LinuxMce. Any other recommended brands.

Appreciate the input.

Thanks..

My current setup is:

ADSL Modem -> Router (setup using automatic dhcp from provider, then DHCP On to provide internal addresses to client) -> client.

With new setup:
ADSL Modem ->  Linux MCE (with DHCP on) -> Router Switch - > Wired Clients / MD / Wireless Clients

Will this setup be more advisable?  Thanks in advance.
