Hi,

You could have a bad DVD with read/write errors.

Test it.

Hi,

If there is a newer kernel you may need to use dist-upgrade.

Cheers

Hi maverick0815,

Did you try to upgrade your kernel as ardirtbiker suggested?

Cheers

Hi,

Hey ardirtbiker...

Was your gtx550 identified as a GF119 or something else?

The 520 is id as a GF119.

Cheers

Hi,

O.K.  I would just double check the BIOS settings to make sure that the PCI Express slot is the main graphic card to be used by the system.

Secondly, I would delete the xorg.conf and shutdown.

Remove sound cards, TV cards, etc to see if the Nvidia card comes up in AVWizard step 5.

If it does, then add it.

Reboot and make sure everything is alright.

Then add your TV card back into the system and see what happens.

Cheers.

Hi,

There should be a 2 line output with the grep command,,,

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF119 [GeForce GT 610] (rev a1)
01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GF119 HDMI Audio Controller (rev a1)

What do you get with this command?

lspci -nn | grep -w 'VGA'

Cheers.

Hi,

Have you tried deleting xorg.conf and rebooting?

Cheers.

Hi,

During AVWizard your Nvidia card doesn't show up as a choice in Step5 Audio Output Connector?

Hi,

If I understand you correctly, eventually you are going directly from the 610 to the TV via hdmi - no other sound cards involved.

That being the case just re-run AVWizard and when you get to audio select HDMI.

Cheers.

Hi,

There has been a lot of work done by L3mce in 10.04 for auto detection of video card hardware.

If you are going to run your 6800 card I would suggest wiki 2 and realize that you have a lot of personal testing to do!

Cheers.

Hi,

If you haven't as yet take a look at this wiki...

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/AVWizard

and

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Display_Drivers

From my experience you have to get the graphic card settings to default to the correct values (wiki #2).

If you want to use vdpau graphic acceleration you'll need a newer card - so get one that has hdmi out to the TV and you can then do 1080p (if your TV is 1080!).

Cheers

Hi,

What is the make & model of video card?

What is the make & model of TV?

How did you cable the video card output to the TV input?

(i.e. - If you went out from the computer video card to the TV using HDMI you should have set the AVWizard to HDMI/1080p/XXHZ.)

Cheers

Hi,

You'll probably need a codec/filter for the .mkv file for whatever player you are using for movie playback.

Cheers.

Thanks.
