Installation issues / Snapshot 23708 audio-video on MD - Solved kinda.
« on: February 08, 2011, 04:38:19 pm »
Hi all,

I rebuilt my system using the 23708 snapshot.

My Core plays VOB's and M2TS (albeit the m2ts files are choppy - on Nvidia GS8400 using analog audio).

My MD using Revo 330 use to do HDMI video and audio but this time no Sarah or audio during initial AV Wizard.

On the MD aplay -l doesn't show NVIDIA HDMI as an option.

I had to set MD audio via KDE to use SPDIF as audio output.

Both Core and MD using alsa 1.0.18, 2.6.27-17-generic & 195 Nvidia drivers

MD plays M2TS with audio (choppy again) but fails to play VOB files.  Screen returns to flickr pics with play/pause icons.

I've installed all codecs and lib files.

Scratching my head now - looking for ideas.

P.S.  I also upgraded MPlayer to vdpau version in avenard repo on Core and MD.  Only mplayer - nothing else.

Hi,

Not sure but I installed the 2010/12/05 update and when I attempt apt-get update on my MD I get the message:

E:  The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/hyyp could not be found.

Any one else?

Cheers

Installation issues / Revo 330 no BD audio
« on: June 17, 2010, 03:56:01 pm »
Hi all,

I just installed an Acer Revo 330.  I have audio for Sarah, audio for regular DVD's but no audio for Blu-Ray disks (BD).

Anyone else come across this?

Thanks.

Installation issues / 810 Beta MD5SUM or SHA1SUM - new users please read.
« on: October 17, 2009, 04:49:09 pm »
Hi,

On LinuxTracker site I saw the hash info...  0d65c38dfab03623b793052733080b3f4d41e008

So I thought we'd better get it out of the way for the new users.

First, Is this an md5sum or sha1sum value?

I'm making an assumption it is md5sum?

If so, FYI after you download the DVD it should be verified using a md5sum verification program.

If the numbers compare you have a good download.

When you burn an image from the .iso file you should do so at the slowest speed available on your DVD burner.

Cheers, enjoy!

Users / MD Video Card setting.
« on: September 18, 2009, 02:48:14 pm »
Just wondering...

Does changing the video card selection from [Standard Video Card] to [GeForce or TNT2] do anything or is it only an identifier?

Hi,

Just updated from 2.34 clean install.  Looks like another re-install is necessary.

Installation issues / Solved - This orbiter will be closed message.
« on: September 06, 2009, 02:50:24 am »
Hi,

After everything seemed to update correctly I rebooted.

On startup I am getting an OK screen (after flicker screen view) that states

An orbiter with the same device id of 127.0.0.1 was started.
This orbiter will be closed.

Then...grey screen of death.  Cursor moves.

Did a <CTRL/ALT>F1 or F2 then back to F7 kinda got main menu back, left/right mouse clicks - no flicker screens.

Used main menu to kinda get to KDE desktop but was part successful then lost everything but OrbiterGL screen on status bar.

Managed to get console window working.

Played around going back to orbiter but things really screwed up trying quick reload.

Got,

An orbiter with the same device id of 127.0.0.1 was started.
This orbiter will be closed.

...messages.

Did a Quick Regen this Orbiter.   Things seemed to settle down.

Did complete cold boot.  Power off PSU.  Power up.

Same black OK screen...

An orbiter with the same device id of 127.0.0.1 was started.
This orbiter will be closed.

...was generated.

Then grey screen of death.  Did <Ctrl/ALT> F1  Hit return for login prompt.

<CTRL/ALT> F7 main menu screen "no flicker photo background".

Main menu> Advanced> Regen this Orbiter get "Stage 1 of 2" messages.

Flicker photo background appears.

Main Menu> KDE Desktop works O.K.

Webadmin via Konqueror works.

Haven't tried MD's yet.

Is it only me?

Users / Removing id3 tags in alpha 810.
« on: August 01, 2009, 04:52:25 pm »
I'm trying to remove id3 tags from the video folders where 0 byte cifsxxxx files are being created.

Removing the id3 tag stops the creation of the files.

Since I had used media resync the id3 tag existed both on disk and in database.

So into Files & Media|Edit Media file and remove the attributes & artwork.

This usually takes three steps.

First check Select/unselect all.  Then press Delete Selected.
When this is updated Delete the artwork - mine don't usually have a URL attached.
Then quickly into /mnt/device/XX/public/data/videos/folder_name and delete id3 tag.  I usually have this setup beforehand.

Recheck in Files & Media|Edit Media file because if you're not fast enough everything gets recreated.

Delete file button in Files & Media|Edit Media file doesn't delete id3 from the HDD.  Things just get recreated.

Sometimes it's a real pain to get the artwork deleted.

I've tried to delete the cifsxxxx files from both

/mnt/device/XX/public/data/videos/folder_name and /home/public/data/videos/'Windows Share-Volume_x [XX]'

but new ones are created.  I have to hook up to my Fedora box to delete them.

Users / Media> Video folder not seen
« on: July 23, 2009, 05:34:09 pm »
Hi,

I added three media folders to my NAS and updatemedia added 2 to MEDIA>VIDEOS sort by Title so I was able to attach artwork but the third has never been picked up.  I can see it via sort by filename under my share, I can see it in it's directory on the drive via command line.  I have resynch'd media see attached...

Resynch sees it.

I have rebooted after the resynch.  I have deleted and re-added the folder audio/video_ts (VOB files).

Resynch a second time.  Waited an hour for updatemedia to catch it.

Basically, I've run out of ideas?  Any other suggestions?

P.S.  There is still over 70 Meg of disk space left on that NAS.  The other two are on that same NAS and one was added after this folder was deleted and re-added.

P.S.S.  I can play the source disk on my Core, Fedora 11 box and WIN2K box.

I have a D-Link 323 NAS with 2 share volumes.

Has   -username and password
   -use automatically
   -cifs
   -password required

but online has to be manually set.

How can I get Online active on boot?

P.S.  Device & Share volumes say Registered: no.
