Well i followed some tutorial on the web for this and it had me make some SIP.config changes.  After deleting those settings and configuring like a regular sip phone it started to work..Now i can make calls to and from the N810....very sweet!!

Thanks for the help.

Hi ytuxedo002. Good news! Especially as I was about to try the same thing and you've done all the leg work for me :-)

Can you guide me through how you set this up and what the "some tutorial" actually was?

Many Thx,
WR.

Well i must say that this post was a little deciving.  I did not configure the n810 through LinuxMCE "yet".  I configured it through my already working Asterisk server.  Now that said, maybe i can still help.  Try following the instructions on this page http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Ekiga

Here is what i did on the N810 end.

User name: (extension # you set up in *)@xx.xx.xx.xx (ip of your core)
password: same as above

In advanced settings.
Outgoing proxy: xx.xx.xx.xx(ip of core)
keep-alive: change to register

Authentication:
extension # in both boxes

Stun:
uncheck auto detect
stun server: xx.xx.xx.xx(ip of core)

Let me know if there is anything else i can help you with.

Thanks for the reply, but i what i need is the n810 side of the instructions.   I've had an asterisk server for many years so i know how to set that side up...but i just can't seem to get the n810 to connect.  Any other ideas?

I've read here that people are doing SD fine over wireless, but don't even attempt HD.

Great work Darren.  Can't wait to see this widget.  I've had my chumby since my wife bought for me for christmas.  And i've been waiting for somebody to "break it in", so to speak.  Being a remote seems like the perfect next step.  Keep us updated and thanks again!!

Has anyone used any of the following devices as MD:
2.  http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=547
ust asking

I have two DLINK DSM320's kicking around, which I was using before I traveled down the HTPC road.

With LinuxMCE 7.10 Release, the DLink's will see the LinuxMCE uPnp and the MythTV uPnp servers when you search for media servers. This is one of the noticeable differences I've found between the release and the beta's. Before, the DLink's were absolutely useless, but now, I can tell it to use the LinuxMCE uPnp and happily play music, see photos and play back recordings and video, although I have noticed there is lag between the moving image and the audio when playing video, which is one of the main reasons why I wanted to stop using the DLink's in the first place.

I didn't try to connect to the MythTV server. I believe the 0.20 version doesn't do much of anything, but the 0.21 release (of MythTV) does seem to work much better. I can play back everything but my vidoes with 0.21... tv recordings playback just fine, but divx avi movies produce a wrong format error (but as I mentioned above, play fine with LinuxMCE 7.10R's Upnp server).

So I guess they won't be a media director, but if you need to feed a TV with limited abilities, and want something small and quiet, these units could be an option that way.

Do you have a run down of how you got the Dlinks connected and working?  I too have one of these and i don't want to loose it to the attic.

Thanks.

Can anybody confirm that they have gotten the Blackberry pearl (8100) to work as a Mobile orbiter?

I presume you actually mean getting the orbiter to work as a remote from your blackberry? If you have the latest firmware for your bb then it should work - however, getting the orbiter downloaded onto the phone can be difficult if it is in "enterprise mode" meaning it is a corporate bb connected to your corporate email system as this means your company can easily set security restrictions that will prevent you from installing the software. If it is just a "retail" bb then you should be able to install it using the instructions hari set.

Sounds good.  Can you point me to the instructions?  Thanks a mil.

Bump?!!?

guys...

you do realise that you have to do a ton of configuration to only get some of the buttons to work, right?

I think that's actually a good thing.  1. The obvious, ~$120 cheaper than the Fiire remote and 2.  We learn somthing in the process.  I don't see a down side.

I've got MythTV/PVR working fine with my Comcast cable box but the obvious limitation is that due to the fact the tuning is done by the cable box, I can't record one show and watch another.

Here's what I think I'm going to try.  Setup 2 tuners and 2 cable boxes on my Core, using one for recording and one for viewing.

Is this the best way to do this?

Will I be able to setup scenarios for each box on my MD's?  i.e. "Cable" and "Recorder"?

Thanks.

Can you give me a quick rundown of how you got the comcast box to work??  Much appreciated.  Thanks.
