Users / AVWizard Repeats every boot
« on: January 31, 2013, 12:54:57 am »
Hi Guys,

Just got a nvidia geforce 8400gs graphics card so I can use vdpau. Installed and working. The motherboard also has an nvidia graphics card (7025 so no vdpau).

Problem is every time I reboot it reports no /etc/X11/xorg.conf even though there is one (checked with ssh). Then I'm back in the AVWizard.

Updated recently.
Any ideas?

Users / mythtv mpg playback problems
« on: December 24, 2012, 12:49:12 am »
When I playback mythtv recordings I am unable to skip or ff etc. I can only pause/play. Trying to skip etc just restarts the video from the beginning.

I have just run the globalupgrade script in 10.04 and confirmed this still happens.

Am I missing something?

« on: November 26, 2012, 09:50:39 pm »
Hi guys,

I have a strange problem. When watching videos on my acer revo I get patches of transparency where the screen is black. I am able to see the screensaver through it.

Any suggestions?

Installation issues / Sound Problems 1004 beta
« on: October 19, 2012, 09:46:36 pm »
Since recently upgrading (yesterday) I have some sound issues.

No audio over hdmi on my acer revo md (broken for several days now).

Sound works on my core (spdif optical) for audio and video but mythtv volume is stuck at 0% so no sound.
Any ideas?

Users / TBS6981 DVB-S2 Update
« on: October 06, 2012, 03:36:54 pm »
Hi Guys,

Bought this card as it is supposed to be recognised by the kernel but there were a few caveats. The card is recognised as the conexant CX23885 but the firmware needs compiling to work properly with this tuner.

I have got it working and have added a script to compile the firmware on the wiki page.
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/TBS6981_DVB-S2_Dual_Tuner_PCIe_Card

Now fully working DVB-S2 twin tuner. Very pleased.

Users / [SOLVED] 1004 DVB cards - missing drivers
« on: July 15, 2012, 10:09:20 pm »
Hi All,
Just did a clean install from the latest snapshot (1st July). My tuners aren't detected/working for mythtv. Do I need to add drivers. I assumed they would be auto-detected as they both work in 0810.

I have a:
1. Kworld KW-DVB-T 399U USB
2. HVR2200 PCIe DVB-T
Both worked fine in 0810

Cheers,
Barney

Users / Forum search results by date [SOLVED]
« on: November 18, 2011, 12:09:05 pm »
Hi Guys,

I was just about to ask how to search the forum with results ordered by most recent first as older posts are becoming less relevant as newer versions fix most old thread topics. I always use the forum search box near the top of the page.
SOLUTION:
I have just found the answer .... use the advanced search in the top left menu and select 'most recent topics first' in the 'search order' dropdown.

I searched the forum for threads about the search results and how to order by date, but with no relevant results (how ironic). I am posting this so that anyone searching the forum for the same thing will find this.

Developers / Eventlircd
« on: October 30, 2011, 01:17:38 am »
Hi guys,

In addition to lmce I use yavdr for standalone DVB-S2 Satellite TV. They just released the new 0.4 version (64bit only) which implements something called eventlircd for enhanced plug and play of remotes.

I mention this because on this latest yavdr it seems that every button on my Gyration 3101 is recognised ootb including the coloured buttons at the bottom.

I am not a developer but I was impressed with how it works. Thought it might be of interest.
Sorry if this is old news.

Users / CPU usage of generic serial device
« on: October 29, 2011, 02:11:18 pm »
Hi Guys,

I've been trying to diagnose why my video media keeps freezing for a couple of seconds then quickly catching up again on my MD. This happens at regular 1-2 minute intervals.

I noticed on all my MDs that when I run 'top' I see 'Generic_Serial_' at the top of the list using 14% cpu. If I have more than one attached AV device then there are two of these (so 28% cpu). My devices are an LG TV and a Denon amp.

Question is ... Is This Normal? That is a lot of CPU for something that is not in use 99.99% of the time. It is more CPU than xine player when watching videos.

I'm running 0810 updated within the last two weeks. VDPAU enabled on my acer revo md (the one that skips).

Users / Video/Audio display grid changes?
« on: May 26, 2011, 05:02:39 pm »
Hey guys,

I haven't updated 0810 in a while as I have a stable build from last year. I keep attempting updates and new builds but various problems always make me revert to my stable backup. So apologies if this is old news ... but ...

My question is ..... Does the media display grid (audio/video) now show the media devices/drives first?

For example, I did a new build and when I selected video I didn't see any videos I saw 'Samsung 1TB' or similar. I then had to click on the drive to see the media on it.

Is this the new layout?

Users / Denon Amp HDMI output problem
« on: May 19, 2011, 10:51:23 pm »
I have a Denon 2310 which is controlled by lmce and I use the hdmi output from the denon to my LG TV (also controlled by lmce).

The Denon amp has multiple video inputs which it can output to the LG via its single hdmi output.

Here's the problem ...
The md is asleep. I press menu on my remote (gyration) which turns on the LG and the Denon amp and switches the denon's video input to v.aux (my core's hdmi output) and the audio/spdif input (from my core) to my ceiling speakers.

When the TV has turned on all I can see is a Denon logo. At this point I can do 2 things.
1. Use the Denon's IR remote to change the input source to something different .... then back again and it works.
2. Wait ... for the screensaver to kick in (10 minutes) and my screensaver appears. Then it works.

Another workaround is to use the core hdmi output directly to the TV (I've done this for over a year), but this limits the flexibility of having multiple inputs on the Denon.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Users / Multi Output STB
« on: May 12, 2011, 01:39:27 am »
I have an openbox s9 HD satellite receiver with both component/audio and hdmi outputs.

Is it possible to distribute these outputs to two of my lmce mds and have it controlled as av equipment within lmce using orbiters and ir?

Basically, I want to use the hdmi output to my 37 inch LG and Denon Amp (core) and the component/audio output to one of my acer revo powered mds (with LG TV)

I know I could use say a HD PVR to capture the component signal into the system, but ... can I simply have lmce switch inputs on my TV and amp and issue ir commands from two mds instead?

I have created the device and captured the ir commands into lmce via usb-uirt.
However, there is only one option for video/audio pipes per av device.

Any ideas?

Users / RS232 not detected
« on: April 05, 2011, 12:37:23 pm »
Hi guys,

Just installed from snapshot 23858.

All went quite well except:
1. None of my RS232 devices are detected at all (LG TVs, Denon Amp). I use usb to rs232 adapters which worked fine previously.
2. Gyration3101 won't work properly in mythtv (fine in everything else)

Any help appreciated.

Users / DVB Headers/Drivers
« on: March 17, 2011, 11:21:44 am »
Hi guys,

I'm trying to find the location of the dvb headers so that I can compile sasc-ng with mythtv as described here.
http://dolot.kipdola.com/wiki/Install_SASC-NG#Configuring_and_compiling

As lmce drivers are custom compiled by the devs (v4l?) this location is required or the module fails with "disagrees about version of symbol ...".

Can anyone help please?

Users / Mixed DVB-S and DVB-T on 0810 core possible?
« on: March 14, 2011, 04:15:03 pm »
As the title says .... I have a twin tuner HVR 2200 for DVB-T which works fine.

Question is ... Can I add a DVB-S card and run it with mythtv at the same time?
