just a question about hdmi-sound with this card. I popped it in my more last night and let the AVWizard run. When it came to selecting a soundcard, I saw my soundblastercar (which would be removed later) and my TV-Card. My plan is to change my setup in the house a little, so that the core would be connected to my TV via hdmi and also deliver the sound. So far I have an MD doing that, but that one will be reassigned to my projector. However in order for this to work, I need the hdmi-sound on this card, but I couldn't select it so far.

I'm digging this old thing up, because I got something new, namely a 3d-capable projector.
I tried this one :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yV8pg2AMB6c as a side-by-side video....and though its relatively low resolution, the 3d-experience is spectacular playing from lmce! :-)

Hmmm....I don't think so...the same movies play nicely on my md..optical out to the same Sony amp
I'm thinking of getting a sweex sc015 soundcard. It looks promising..

well...sometimes its good to talk things through ...I installed the codecs and now at least I get some sound out with some movies...though with mkv, its only static.

Thom is right...I did that once too and got those loops...only thing left to do was reinstall

The Sony is too old for hdmi. So far I don't think that I can find another soundcard with coax out anytime soon. The Sony supports only one coax and one optical.the optical is being used by my md.

My core is an older athlon64 on a asrock 939dualvsta mainboard, about 4gb ram and two 2tb samsung/seagate hdd. Right now I'm using a soundblaster audigy 2 zs with a coax spdif attached to it. This worked like a charm in windows..ac3 passthrough and such.
What I'm trying to do is get  the sound through the spdif to my sony amplifier, so that I can watch movies. If I remember correctly from what l3mce told me, the audigy is not playing nice with linux because it doesn't report correctly.
24  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: 8400gs resolution on: March 30, 2013, 12:41:15 am
okay...I got it. I had quite a day so far. I downloaded the final release of 10.04 and wanted to use the opportunity to get rid of my old mainboard (939dualvsta) and install something newer..some intel board with a core2duo. As it turns out, this one had already uefi boot...and neither enabled or disabled could get me to boot the installed harddrive. So with a heavy heart I reinstalled my old mainboard. With a little trickery I got the proper resolution running.

Now my only remaining problem ist getting some sound..the audigy won't do, so I'll try a different one, with the hope that lmce will be able to use it.

Right now I got an audigy2 as in my core. But spdif is not working as it should. So was thinking about an alternative. I found a very cheap soundcard with spdif coaxial ...digitus ds-33700 which uses a via vt1723 chip. Does anybody know, of this will work with once 10.04?

Not yet..

Thats an affirmative to both. When I run the avwizard, the picture  doesn't fit to the screen.
28  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / 8400gs resolution on: March 27, 2013, 10:19:36 pm
I got myself a new projector -optoma hd300x- and hooked it up to my core via HDMI-cable. Right now my problem is, that I cannot get a higher resolution than 1024x768. Any higher than that and it will always revert.
So I was wondering, how I can get this to comply. Does anyone have an idea?

On a side note, I have a audigy 2 zs in my core too, which I have trouble with spdif coax sound. in alsamixer, i only see spdif optical and if I turn it off, I get sound on coax, but trying dts for example gives me nasty hissing sounds. I know l3mce said he is working on it ( god knows, he is working on a lot of stuff).

That did it! dropped it from the database and now I can use it. Thanks, mate!

I restarted the core this morning to check if it would show up then...but no luck.
