Users / Re: VoIP for Internode AUS - Trunk settings

I have a similar problem. Also try to make some entries in your phonebook. You'll notice in the dialas field, there are also some US-related digits popping up.
For your outgoing rules it would be sufficient to put
Quote
X.
This means, you can dial any number. Asterisk also knows automatically if you call an internal number or not.
So any number thats  longer than 3 digits will be outgoing by definition...I don't know however about the emgergency numbers.

I've been playing around with the telecom-features of linuxmce. I accidentally put one contact twice, but can't get rid of any of them. I can delete associated phonenumbers, but not the contact itself....so that would be a feature I'd really love to see

ask a thousand people and you'll get a thousand opinions...
linuxmce can do pretty well as a mediacenter...and perhaps the name itself is a bit misleading, since it is so much more than a mere mediacenter.
The thing is, its very much scalable and who knows...maybe you'll start out small- as you stated your intent- but perhaps once its installed, you find out, you'll want to do a little more than you had in mind when you got started. It certainly happened to me and there are still a number of things I didn't try or didn't touch- but I'm glad I did.
The good thing is- its free for you, only thing it'll cost you is some hardware and a little spare time. Give it a try and if you find out its not for you- get mythbuntu for example.

just my two cents

Friends, I really can't make heads or tails of it....
just suppose I will delete my phonebook again as well as the trunk I created...start fresh:
the international accesscode for germany is 0049
a local areacode is for example 0375
the phonenumer is 1234567
If I want to call that number from where I am it would be: 03751234567
if it was a international call it would be 00493751234567
Suppose I would stick with automatic configuration, the field "When dialing a local number, automatically prepend the area code" will contain what..0049 or 0375, or only 375?
or what? The next line to prepend one digit would be "0" for Europe.
So, assuming I did those  entries...how about the phonebook then? So far what I did was putting 49 for coutry code, 375 for areacode and 1234567 for the phonenumber, however in dial as it always appeared like this  : 9011493751234567- and of course that doesn't dial...and like I said above- incoming calls do not get reported in the phones correctly. If I check this in the reportpanel in freepbx I at least the the number like this :03751234567, but the number being shown is something else.
I know there are lots of people with different problems...but this is driving me nuts...

I finally fillled my phonebook, but I'm experiencing some problem still. Whenever a call is coming in, I always get one and the same caller id from the phonebook reported. Did any of you guys experience that too?

Installation issues / Re: latest update- no more TV
« on: January 09, 2010, 10:03:43 pm »
there was no provider found for my location, so I had to use mythtv-setup.
there was a new xmltv entry as LMCE-default. I had some manual configuration to do, like changeging the videosource for the channels, but I could not watch anything. I deleted everything and tried a fresh start. I still had to connect the lnb and link the videosource. then I tried the channel-scan and got nothing...no matter what I tried, rebooting after card-detection, or only quick reload...I can neither watch nor tune nor scan...I also cannot go back to before. Like I said, I checked the firmware I used and recompiled v4l...but I can still not find any channel.
I am open to any suggestion.

Installation issues / latest update- no more TV
« on: January 09, 2010, 08:22:16 pm »
I did a dist-upgrade this evening, rebooted and was then notified, that I had a Wintv nova hd s2 connected to the dcerouter and was asked if I wanted to use it.
Since this is my card and I was intrigued, that the templates have been released, I said yes.....ever since I am trying to get my TV back to work. After some trying around, I finally caved in and deleted all my settings in mythtv, rebooted and started anew. After I confirmed the use of the card, I went to mythtv-setup, but there I got a nasty surprise, since I cannot tune anymore! The channelscan breezes through with all timeouts and no new channel found! Right new I am trying to get my old settings back...I deleted the card info in the webadmin, deleted everything from mythtv, put the firmware again and complie v4l once more...I just hope this will work, otherwise I'm stuck without TV this weekend

the more I play around with the telecom-features, there questions I have....
for example: how can I access the general voicemail other than by going to the webadmin? What format is the recording there? When I opened it the first time, firefox complained about a missing plugin, ie8 came up with the brilliant idea of getting quicktime(yuck) to do the job. If I click the download link it downloads it as wave, but mediaplayer doesn't want to play it.

hmm...I still couldn't figure out where those digits come from, but I also have another question: is there any softphone for windows known to be able to access the phonebook? So far that would be quite cool. Right now I have x-lite running on my windows-pc, but I would change it for something else if I could use any other, if it had this feature. I'm also looking for some cordless IP-phones...and if those would be able to get the phonebook too, it would be the coolest thing. Right now I'd just be happy for the right softphone.

Users / need some help with the phonebook
« on: January 05, 2010, 07:26:34 pm »
I have slight problem with the phonebook entries. I live in Germany and have a phonenumber like this : 0049 371 1234567
However when I start putting the country code in the first field, what appears in the "dial as" is this: 90110049
I don't understand what causes the 9011 to appear. I checked in the trunk for the dial pattern, but this is still as I set it: X.
Since I finally managed to get the asterisk to talk to my fritzbox via sip, I would really like to start filling in the phonebook.

Installation issues / Re: mythtv player isn't installed on MD
« on: January 02, 2010, 12:31:46 pm »
go to the webadmin interface there go to wizard->devices->mediadirectors.
Scroll down to your MD in question and look for Softwaremodules, there is a button next to it, that says edit.
it opens another window, see if  mythtv is checked, then save and close.

Well, Thom, I suspected you'd say that...and I wish I could too
so far, when I use the automatic configuration, select broadvoice and then put in the login-data for the fritzbox, it creates two lines- none of which I could delete from this page.
If I go to manual configuration, I find one trunk named broadvoice and a user context named fritzbox.
I also tried the intercom calling from one md to another or to the softphone- it gets dropped because there is no route.
Other than that I find those messages in the status page:

Installation issues / Re: asterisk

I'm still having some trouble getting along with asterisk
I found that the only script working for setting up a sip-trunk is broadvoice. I tried copying the script and modify it, so that it will configure asterisk to work together with my fritzbox- but that doesn't work- nothing registers. If I use the originial broadvoice-script and put in the logindata for the fritzbox, its working so far, that I suddenly have to lines  showing with the data- one for fritzbox, one for broadvoice. Then, whenever I want to make a call- either inbound or outbound- I get a recorded message, that the number I have called is not in use. I have no idea what to do. For testing purposes I  installed x-lite softphone on my computer and with the help of the wiki I set it up, so that it successfully registers with linuxmce, but I still cannot make even one call with it.
Any suggestions, anybody?
