I suggest taking it one step at a time. Get your orbiterphones working and then we'll look at the gigaset.
I also had some problems with the "your number cannot be completed as dialled". It usually has something to do with the format of the phonenumber.
Like I said before, I do not really understand why the "9" is automatically put in the dial plan as well as the wizard in the phonebook. Perhaps there are some "historical" reasons for that, because it was maybe needed to distinguish internal calls from external calls, but that is no longer neccessary.
In my case I scrapped the whole dialplan and put only "X." in, which means it will just dial any number. Asterisk is intelligent enough by now to tell on its own, if you want to make an internal or external call.
But like I said, get your orbiterphones to register properly and then we'll take the next step.

The warnings are nothing to be concerned with....but compare my screenshot to yours...notice the difference?
I think your phones were not created properly, thats why you cannot use them. Talk to the guys on the irc, maybe they can tell you what script has to get a kickstart from you

as promised, check the attachment

hmm..since you had it working in previous installations....have you tried talk to the guys at the irc about it? perhaps its an issue with the new asterisk package they created...with the last update they said they had cooked their own asterisk-package now...

okay, as far as I understand:
1.) regardless of having registered an external phoneline, phones will be set up. Any MD has  an integrated phone, which will be setup and registered automatically. Those phones could for example be used as an intercom. If you set up an external phoneline, then your "intercom" becomes a real telephone.
2.) if you want to use your gigaset together with LMCE, you need to set it up manually in LMCE first. As far as I know, there is no template yet for this specific phone.
So in order to set up your phone go to webadmin->phones->add device. From there you have to pick a template- either your phone is listed, or you use "Generic SIP softphone". This wil create the proper phone for you. You will then have a phonenumber and a password.
3.)if you have done the above steps, you open the website for your gigaset and there you select an ip-connection (don't know with yours, but with mine I can define up to six connections) With this connection you use the phonenumber as both number for the extension as well as username.
as for notifications, you probably need to do this in two steps:
webadmin->telecom->call routing. There you can define what phones will ring for at home, do not disturb, away and sleeping
the other one is to edit the settings for the phoneline: once you have successfully registered a line with automatic configuration (for me did actually work) you can click on settings. There you can change settings for armed-at home, armed-away, entertaining, sleeping and unarmed-athome. So this will give you proper notifications and you can select, that for example when watching TV or movie, you send your callers to a specific extension or straight to the mailbox

I hope this will help you along a bit. But first I guess you have to get your asterisk running properly, or did you happen to fix it now?

Installation issues / Gigaset 610 IP
« on: June 28, 2011, 12:18:56 am »
From what I saw so far perhaps Gigasetphones are getting a bit popular with linuxmce.
I just got a Gigaset 610 IP...and I was wondering if it was at all possible to get it to use the phonebook in asterisk.
Also, I was wondering how difficult it would be for an embryo like to perhaps create a template for this far I have no real idea of whats needed for that.

I just tried it out and it works nicely on my MD. Though the nvidia driver complained during install, that the x-server was running and that causes installation to fail.
However I was able to watch a beforehand unplayable mkv.
Great job :-)

okay, I'm one step further now. it seems an update to my internetrouter somehow screwed up dns. that seems to be working now, though my messenger still doesn't work, but that could be unrelated. However I noticed one odd thing- the phones only seem to come online, when my MD has started. Then freepbx shows me 5 phones online. On the other hand, shutting down my MD lets me keep my functionality, but freepbx doesn't realize, that now one phone is offline..still shows 5 instead of 4 now.

It seems like I did solve my problem, but I have only a faint idea about the why.
My setup is the following : my router (fritzbox) connect to the internet and my core is connected directly to that. Ever since I'm using Linuxmce I used a static IP-address for that connection. As I found out some weeks ago, I made a mistake about DNS- it was set to the IP of the router instead of the core, but it was working. When I found out my mistake I changed the settings for the DNS to the IP of my core, but left everything as static.
I did some checking on my router and found a setting for the dhcp there to always assign the same address to the core. Now I went to the core and changed the network setting to use dhcp, which in theory wouldn't really have made much of a difference. Imagine my surprise, when I checked in Freebpx to see all my Phones online and working.
The only two problems I have now is that somehow surfing is a bit of a drag, since I have to request every page at least twice before the page actually loads, nslookup returns first a timeout of 2 seconds and then gives a result. The other problem is, that I cannot connect to windows messenger anymore.

thanks alot for your effort. At least I can report a small success, because after my tinkering the phone in the md registered again...but its not much use to me right now, since I can't call from there

I did as you asked. I found that my "normal" phones as well as the embedded phone of the core have all correct usernames, phonenumbers and secrets. The phone in my MD has no username and the password does not match. Also, the embedded phones use port 5061, while my other phones use 5060.
question is, whether or not I have to edit the settings in the webadmin or in that conf-file to get it back to working .

Interesting...I edited the extensions in freepbx to all use port 5061 and I changed the secret to match it with the when I check those entries in the conf-file, none of  them has a username anymore

plugs: did you manage to resolve the issue?
I got mine working for a short period by doing a restore of my system from three or four updates my phones are all offline
