Installation issues / Nas not being detected
« on: March 14, 2013, 07:08:53 pm »
I got a Seagate Blackarmor 220 at home. I created a public share without the need for credentials. I thought LMCE would detect it and ask me to use it, but so far nothing. I even unlocked all unknown devices again- they got detected one by one- but the nas never showed up. I can access it via ip, my windows8 box sees it too.

Installation issues / Phones do not register anymore
« on: February 27, 2013, 08:43:36 pm »
I just encountered a problem with my Gigaset 610ip. I have two handsets of this model and none of them is currently registering. I even went to delete them from the webadmin, reload router, re-add them ( as generec sip-phone, as I have always done before), but for the live of me, they won't register. The webadmin of the gigaset always shows the status of those phones as "registration failed".

Users / New Asterisk feature or is it my Gigaset?
« on: February 06, 2013, 09:16:11 pm »
Okay, this sounds probably stupid on my part, but you're used to that from me, I suppose.
I'm using a Gigaset 610 IP together with LMCE and thats all working nicely so far. Today, when I came home I noticed a missed phonecall. Upon checking it on my Gigaset, I was astounded to see the full name of the caller in the display. It was somebody I knew, but didn't have the number for, so clearly this info came from somwhere else.
Right now I'm a bit confused, where this nice feature comes from...is Asterisk now automatically doing a reverselookup or is this something my Gigaset does on its own?
I'd appreciate your input.

Installation issues / install experience on RC1
« on: January 12, 2013, 09:30:04 pm »
Today I did an install of lmce 10.04 RC1
I got a core with an older AMD dual core on an Asrock MB, 2GB Ram, 2x2TB hdd, and a Geforce 8400GS, a Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS with an added Coax SPDIF out and for TV a Hauppauge Nova HD-S2.
I have one MD running- or rather still installing- an Asrock Ion 330.
The install itself ran pretty straight forward, no problems there. In contrast to the last snapshot I Installed, my mediafiles were all detected an added to the database immediately.
What I did find out during my install so far is this:
  • the TV card gets detected and preconfigured, what is missing is the firmware, so I had to install linux-firmware-nonfree manuall. I don't know if this is behaviour by design. I remember running 8.10 rc1 or rc2 that process wasn't neccessary anymore.
  • The soundcard in my core is not working or not working as it should. Its very weird. KDE desktop complains immediately, that this card is not working. I can open Alsamixer and check everything. This card has an IO-Pinout for SPDIF in-and out. I could use it for optical or coax. I use the Output as coax. Alsamixer only reports a spdif optical out. When I mute this one, I get sound, but DTS or Digital give me only some hissing. I did have this working before. Now I',m a bit at a loss.
  • I believe the graphicsdriver for Nvidia is still the 260 version. I remember reading a number of threads here as well as from my own experience, that this driver causes a lot of artifacts and distortions. I once installed the 295 version, which as for me a bit of a hassle. I later changed to a seemingly easier approach in installing nvidia-current. However I believe that version is by now around 303 or something. I don't know if this causes the immesureable number of crashes I had with mythtv. If there is a better way of getting rid of the aforementioned artifacts, please let me know.
  • Right now I'm still running the install of my MD and Sarah is looking at me very sternly, because we both wait for the xmltv util to be finished for some hours now

So far these are my findings. I will update this, as soon I find something else.

Users / Question about Asterisk tickets
« on: December 07, 2012, 07:13:55 pm »
I noticed l3mce saying that there are only a few open tickets left for 10.04. So I wondered a little, because I remember a ticket for Asterisk for example, where no telephonenumbers show up for incoming calls.
I keep my system up to date, but I still have this issue (aside not being able to call to outside of the coutnry and mythtv constantly crashing) my only standing issue.
So is this fixed and if so, how can I get it to work here?

Users / cannot place international phone calls
« on: November 19, 2012, 06:14:56 pm »
It seems like this is not working at present. I have no problem call nationally...but as soon as I want to make an international call, I just can't get a line. I checked the call details and there I can find some of those calls wit "No Answer". Checking my AVM Fritz!Box, where the asterisk is registered as a sipphone- none of those calls show up.
I put a "0" as a dial prefix in the Webadmin, so any international call would have to start with "000". I don't even get a message about a wrong number, so I guess the formatting is okay.
Does anyone have an idea what could cause this?

Cheers
Mario

Users / mediatomb and windows mediaplayer
« on: October 14, 2012, 11:16:17 am »
does anyone use the two of them successfully in 1004? I'm having a bit of a trouble with this, because when I get down to the titles, I see multiple entries per track and none are playing. WMP always throws up an error message, that the file couldn't be found.
Is there something I'm doing wrong here?

Installation issues / new release "precise"
« on: August 24, 2012, 03:00:46 pm »
I just logged in to dcerouter and found this:
new releaase "precise" available
run "do-release-upgrade" to upgrade to it
Is this a "Do" or a "Don'T"??

I installed the new beta after having trouble with my old install
Everything went rather nicely so far. The only issue while installing was with my MD, where the whole process took very long at "downloading XMLTV utils", but I was assured in the IRC that it would eventually finish, which it did.
However I found out later in the day, that none of my orbiters would display any kind of media. I checked in the webadmin and there they were..all nice on my two hdd residing in the core.
I checked with windows media player if mediatomb would serve them as well...which it did.
After some more checking, I found out, that when I booted the core/hybrid only, without the MD, then all the files would be displayed...and played too. Then I started the MD and after about 20 seconds, the media was gone from the orbiters.
So far I have no idea what causes it, or how I can prevent it....
Does anyone else has seen this?

Installation issues / system freeze[solved]
« on: July 06, 2012, 10:13:56 am »
Recently my primary harddisk died, so I replaced it with a brand new drive. So currently I have two 2TB drives installed. The new drive holds a swap partition, a system partition and a data partition.
The second drive is only for data.
I did a fresh install last weekend and so far aside from the mythtv-dying problem everything seemed fine.
However I'm now experiencing system-freezes at least once a day. I checked around the logs and find things like this:

As you can see 23:26:35 was the last entry..and 8:50:07 is the time I restarted the system.
So far I checked the drives for smart errors, but there were none. I checked around google a bit and it seems it might be a software issue. So what do you guys think? The next thing to change would be the mainboard then (inkl. cpu).
Any input is welcome.

Cheers

Installation issues / mythv seems to have died
« on: July 02, 2012, 10:17:44 pm »
That is currently the message I get on both the core and the md, when I try watching TV. After that, I get dumped to the mythtv-menu where I can select WATCH...and can watch live tv for about 20 seconds....then I get crashed back to the orbiter.
I did around 4 or 5 complete installs during the weekend, including another two I did today. The result so far has been unchanging. On the plus side of it, I can at least use Asterisk to make calls again, but I don't consider this a good trade off :-D
Anyways, so far I did notice, that there is always a problem with downloading v4l2...I see a corresponding message everytime when I reload router.
So far I was able to scan for channels with my nova hd-s2 card...but really watching TV seems no longer possible.
I would really appreciate, if someone more knowledgeable than me could help me getting mythtv to get working again.
until then,

yours faithfully

Mario

PS: stupid me...I forgot: running 1004, net-install

Users / changes in mythweb don't stick
« on: June 08, 2012, 07:03:09 pm »
I'm running 1004 for quite a while now. Today I did a full scan for channels in Mythtv. Usually I use mythweb to trim the channels down to what I want. To my surprise however, it seems that this approach is not working for me currently, because no matter what I try, none of the changes sticks after I want to submit the changes. So right now I'm using the channeleditor on my MD to do some kind of sorting, but that is very tedious.
So I'm guessing, there is an issue with permissions...I just don't know where.
Does anyone of you guys have an idea?

I just got the update for qorbiter on my HTC evo3d. It pulled the qtwebkit and crashes ever since on startup.
