not very hopeful

I guess this is a nice feature for most people (I suppose not many live in a 2000+ square feet house). this could save on quite some hardware and electricity and even improve performance by being able to use a bit better hardware and divide it over multiple MD's.

I wonder if there is any info available to configure a multiheaded setup where the second screen can function as a separate MD or just a separate orbiter

I would like to start a program via the orbiter. (for example add it to Advanced>Computing>Installed programs).

(in my case I want to start a vncviewer to a desktop pc)

Is there a howto available somewhere?

I understand that it might sound strange. I have an audio newsfeed (flash based) running on my desktop and some other stuff with audio alerts which I want to be able to hear throughout the house.

Installation issues / Re: dhcp not working properly?
« on: January 22, 2013, 09:36:48 am »
I don't have a modem, just internet cable directly into my core and on the other nic I have my local network (basic setup I suppose). The ISP IS sending me the localhost address since this is in the leasefile:
option domain-name-servers 127.0.0.1,193.8.10.10,193.8.1.1;

This works on a client and also on a normal router but LMCE uses the 127.0.0.1 as the main dns server so all dns stops working. A simple filter there would do I suppose but I have no idea where to add that properly.

any suggestions?

Users / stream desktop audio to lmce
« on: January 22, 2013, 09:33:00 am »
Is there an easy (lmce) way to stream the same audio output on my desktop (ubuntu) to linuxmce so I can play that on md's (in sync preferably)

the
 - name
 - resolution
 - room
do not seem to be stored in the webadmin.

what would be nice is if you could select the feedback type after a selection (the other orbiter gave vibration). It also would be nice if the id of the device would be displayed on the settings page.

nicely done again.

Users / Re: mysql performance
« on: January 19, 2013, 03:32:39 pm »
If what I did is the correct way to count it.

I have however moved a lot of files manually and some on multiple locations. Could it be that LinuxMCE is still storing old locations and that way have duplicate entries? If so what would be the best way to get rid of the stale entries?

I run on a hybrid with ui2 (no transparency) on an old amd be-2400 with a SSD and a NAS. I don't think my library is that big. How to check that. Doing a count on the file table gave me:
Code: [Select]
mysql> select count(*) from File;
+----------+
| count(*) |
+----------+
|   296213 |
+----------+

So if that is 296K compared you the 15K you mentioned then it is big. Not much I can do?

I assume those changes made to speed things up would be included automatically when running 'apt-get upgrade' or are manual actions required?

thx!

When I select Video or Audio in an orbiter it takes very long for the results to show (more then 10 seconds) and then scrolling through the results is also very slow. Is this normal behavior, am I missing some optimizations, should one manually create indexes or is there something else I can do to improve this?

thx!
