Users / Re: deb.linuxmce.com offline?
« on: October 25, 2008, 07:41:50 pm »
PING deb.linuxmce.org (193.200.113.133) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 193.200.113.133: icmp_seq=1 ttl=254 time=43.7 ms

I get an error while running apt-get update so I thought that was the reason, obviously not.

Thanks.

Users / Got my LinuxMCE running, but...
« on: October 25, 2008, 07:26:41 pm »
Hi,
I installed LinuxMCE from DVD to 80GB disk and I have separate 3x1TB drives in Raid+LVM+Luks setup for media.

I'm really impressed with LinuxMCE so far but I got a few issues that I didn't solve by looking in wiki and searching through older posts.

1. apt-get update breaks because of bad entries in sources.list. Can somebody please give me the working sources.list file. This one breaks becase deb.linuxmce.com doesn't exist.

2. How can I start xterm without going to KDE and starting it there? I would like to switch between xterm and LMCE UI, is that possible? How? I know I can use vt1 but I would like to stay in vt7 (gui)

3. I have Gigabyte gc-ptv-taf (http://allanon.nvg.org/gc-ptv-taf/) that uses saa7134 module and I think I have loaded it up with correct options in /etc/modprobe.d/options (card=81 tuner=54) but I still don't see it in media director menue in web wizard. How can I make sure that this card is working and how to make LinuxMCE work with it?

I hope I can help out with your project, because I have linux experience and love this project, but I need first to get it working myself :)

Cheers from Croatia,
Valent.

It's back online.

FYI, you can put it in your /etc/hosts file as:

208.109.177.142 deb.linuxmce.org

If this happens again. But still report it, those of us with working systems might not notice right away.

I get this error even with this IP set in hosts file.

Has something changed?

Installation issues / Re: LinuxMCE with Raid-5 and LVM?
« on: July 01, 2008, 12:17:38 pm »
I don't think you can install direct to RAID. I tried doing it by installing to a single disk, setting up the mds, copying the filesystem across, and editing fstab and lilo configuration. It boots up fine, but linuxmce also picks up the md device as a potential storage device, and wants to add it to the list of storage devices (in its irritating way of asking persistently, not taking no for an answer). If you make the mistake of saying yes, you will get all the silly little system sounds and images listed amongst your media. It will work if you are careful, but it could be friendlier.

If I install LinuxMCE to a separate disk ant then if I setup raid and lvm on other disks and copy the /boot folder to non-lvm separate partition and other to lvm this should work? Of course I would also need to reinstall grub.

Installation issues / LinuxMCE with Raid-5 and LVM?
« on: July 01, 2008, 10:06:34 am »
Hi is it possible to install LinuxMCE on partition with Raid-5 (3 hard drives) and also use LVM for future expansion?
I'm about to install my first LinuxMCE and I would like to have a more advances setup so I hope there is a way to do this.

Cheers,
Valent.
