91  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: 10.04 USB Install Issues on: August 24, 2012, 03:19:57 pm
I installed from USB. Just pressed tab then it gives you a list of options - the same list the grapical interface gives you. You typed Live which boot the live cd version to try it out, I'd you type 'hybrid' it will do the hybrid install

When you get someway through the install it will ask you to reboot, hit reboot then once the machine powers off remove the USB stick. It will then boot from the HD.
92  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Nb9wmaxx+voip iinet+asterisk+freebpx setup on: August 21, 2012, 02:38:20 pm
This should be possible, I briefly looked at http://www.exetel.com.au/voip_pdf/nb9wMaxx.pdf and then looked at a page I set up for a phone on the wiki http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/EP-636_SIP_Phone and between those two you should be able to work out how to set up your phone/ata to work with LMCE.

You also need to set up your provider to work with Asterisk.  One thing I will warn you about is security.  I was hacked using Asterisk with 08.10 luckily as was on a pay as you go plan and it cost me less than 10GBP, others were not so lucky.  One suggestion people have had is adding fail2ban http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Fail2ban_-_A_tool_against_brute_force - I have no personal experience of this just giving you things to look at.

95  LinuxMCE / Users / 0810 or 1004? on: August 14, 2012, 10:33:53 pm
So it is time to replace my aging core with a monster core (tyrannoCOREus rex) and I am wondering if I should bite the bullet and proceed to 1004?

I have seen many posts stating how stable 1004 is and that all sounds good but are there any features of 0810 that are currently not ready in 1004?
96  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Conditional Lighting Scenarios, on: August 12, 2012, 03:40:21 pm
Can't you just go to the lighting floor plan, see the state of the light then turn it on or off?

With regard to the security question, it would be nice if the system checked for your Bluetooth mobile phone or wifi smart phone and then set the security accordingly....

98  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Learning IR Codes from a Remote on: July 25, 2012, 04:13:42 am
if you look at which other TV's use the same remote codes on the Sky remote as your Technika then perhaps you can use codes for a different brand.

look up your TV here:

http://www.satcure.com/tech/digicode2.htm#contrib

then look what else uses the same number then perhaps you can find the pronto codes for that. Technika is a Tesco brand which is probably the same parts as other brands.

start to build a template, put in the alternate manufacturer and you may find the suggested pronto codes work
99  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Learning IR Codes from a Remote on: July 24, 2012, 03:15:42 am
So Fibres all you need to do is mail your remote to someone with a usbuirt and get them to build you a template. I would do this for you but I am living out of a box right now. If you are still struggling in 3 months give me a call. With a harmony, and a usbuirt I may be able to do this without your remote.
100  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Redirecting certain network traffic based on URL on: July 11, 2012, 06:08:30 am
for anyone following this there is a wiki page for Squid:

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Squid

not sure if I need a VPN client or how I direct certain traffic over a VPN while the rest goes directly to the Internet, anyone have any ideas?
101  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Redirecting certain network traffic based on URL on: July 05, 2012, 04:01:32 pm
It would be URL.  Are the software components already there to do this or do I need to add something?  Can you direct me to the relevant config files or tools?
102  LinuxMCE / Users / Redirecting certain network traffic based on URL on: July 05, 2012, 05:38:08 am
I have a std LMCE setup (external - core/hybrid - internal) network.  what I want to do is redirect certain traffic from the internal and core/hybrid that is bound for the internet through a VPN and the rest of the traffic via the normal route.  What is the best way to do this?
103  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: X10 CM19A on: July 04, 2012, 04:24:28 pm
I know this thread is a little old, but is still relevant. Is the CM19a supported now?

or should i stick with getting a CM15a? Main reason i ask is my core doesn't have a serial port, meaning I would need to install a PCI card...

my CM15a is USB?
104  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Network setup? on: June 08, 2012, 07:10:04 pm
You are correct, use the faster card on the internal network. Your ISP will be the bottleneck on the external network

We're going to need a bigger boat...

like JaseP I saw it when I was young and am still scared by the black line on the bottom of the pool when I swim over it.

Golgoj4,
I am going to get my wife to look at this from a asthetic point of view.
