Read all of this before doing any of it

1.  Log into the IRC channel #linuxmce-devel
2. Go to http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi and create a new ticket use information similar to http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/ticket/1662, (ignore the change history for now)
3.  In webadmin goto --> Advanced --> sqlCVS and click 'update' - select everything and run or submit (whatever)
4.  once the update is complete, run 'Diff' from the same menu - this will show you differences to sqlCVS - these make up your template.
5.  in the description box at the bottom write a description "Device Template for Sharp XXXXX" and include the Ticket number.  check all the items that are to do with your template and submit
6.  in the IRC chanel you will see the batch codes appear that are associated with your submission, copy them and add them to your ticket.
7.  Ask in the IRC if there is anyone available to approve your submission.  if there isnt - keep asking until you find someone.

The one device that people have had success with IR learning has always been the USB UIRT. Not cheap, but well worth it, imho.

Except there is one on EBay right now going for $12.00!

David,
You need to set up a device template for your TV, if you want, I will set one up for you if you donate an amount to the community (for the SCALE show).   I would need to see if this device is in the Logitech Harmony database, but I am sure it is

40  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Asterisk Security on: January 11, 2013, 07:48:22 pm
Thank You

Can you confirm that the wiki page for this is correct?

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Fail2ban_-_A_tool_against_brute_force

should the ignore IP line look like:

ignoreip = 127.0.0.1 192.168.80.1 192.168.80.0/254
41  LinuxMCE / Users / Asterisk Security on: January 11, 2013, 07:28:05 pm
is Asterisk in LMCE 10.04 vunerable to brute force attacks?

there was a period earlier where lots of people were being billed for hacked calls, is security better now or is it still suggested to use something like fail2ban?
42  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Southern California Linux Expo on: January 11, 2013, 03:27:17 am
I travel frequently - which means I have lots of travel points.  I will 'pay' for 2 nights at the Hilton LAX for golgoj4.  I do need some details though but I will see him on the IRC....

I am also trying to get there myself to help out but not sure if I can yet.
43  LinuxMCE / Users / Airsight IP Cameras on: December 30, 2012, 09:23:24 pm
is anybody using the Airsight IP cameras that are available from http://www.x10.com/homepage.htm?

If so, are they plug and play? do they work with a particular template?

Anyway, the slow response of the KDE is noted. Can the Core be managed from a separate machine using the browser and/or a client (like PuTTy or some other remote desktop)?

I believe most people  manage their core in this manner using Web Admin and a ssh client - terminal, putty etc.

Are you sure it was a DVD? I had an issue like this with an mp4 file. Nothing would play until I killed xine.
