I Agree, the data integrity gets corrupted. But as a last option, before using a nuke - for the time beeing, this was acceptable for me.

Can you inform me on another way to clean the media database, without re-installing the whole system?

If you, as I did ran UpdateMedia in the wrong place and got your media library messed up, this might help you, USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

run the mysql client.
connect pluto_media;
delete from File;

Go to the web admin, media, do a resync and Voila your media library should look alot better.

again, USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

This worked for me!

Any one running 32bit and having problems?

Users / Best / cheapest gfx card for UI2 maxed.
« on: April 14, 2008, 02:47:37 pm »
Hi,

What is the best GFX card for using UI2, fully loaded with alphablending and icing on the top?

I have an Nvidia 7300. If I use that with UI2 alphablending the picture seams to tear 2-3 places while playing movies like "interlaced" where the top middle and buttom part are not sync'ed when the camera pans. Is it UI2 or just the gfx that can't keep up or some other setting that i am missing?

Now i am stucked with UI2, overlay (O2 ?) using the onboard GMA950 (Works like a dream). I Tried to run UI2 with alphablending with the GMA 950 that resultet in "Flikker from Hell" the GMA 950 just don't cut it?

Users / Re: Which resolution to use? (720p or 1366x768)
« on: April 09, 2008, 06:43:25 pm »
So what do you do about the aspect-ratio on lets say a Plasma (42", 16:9) with native 1024x768 resolution, the aspect-ratio is way off here.

Setting the aspect-ratio to 4:3 fixes this but i don't like the way it is done.

Users / Re: 455khz ir receiver

Hi all,

I found a solution.

Build a standart Lirc receiver: http://lnx.manoweb.com/lirc/?partType=section&partName=circuit

Simply just replace the IR reciever (in this case a TSOP 1738) with a TSOP7000 (455khz) and voila, you are now ready to use your B&O remote with LIRC. You should be able to build this for less than 200 20€.

Users / 1024x786 or 720p? with 16:9 plasma..
« on: April 07, 2008, 08:13:34 am »
Hi all,

What is the best resolution for a plasma tv (1024x768, 16:9), if I choose 1024x768 I get problems with the aspect ratio but I get a pixel perfect picture. If I choose 720p my tv is scaling the picutre and I believe that my graphics card does a better job on scaling than my tv does, so... What are my options?

Users / Cheapest solution for h.264 720p/1080p playback
« on: April 04, 2008, 01:02:46 pm »
What is the cheapest / lowend motherboard / cpu etc..... combination that allows h.264 720 or 1080p playback using LinuxMCE ?

A must is the small formfactor.

I am afraid to build overkill'ed MDs, these days you have to worry about power consumption and such. ;)

Has anyone tried to hook up a set of Beocom 6000's to Linux MCE, using the handsets IR capabilities?

Hi guys,

What a wonderful world we live in and how privileged we are to be able to do our hobbies, enough said ;)

I am new here and hope to contribute a lot in the future.

I am planning a Linux MCE setup in my home hence looking for inspiration. I want to know about your setup, what works well and what not to do, lets say i wanted to play h.264 in a 720p resolution, what kind of hardware would i need.

It would be great to see peoples "homes" e.g. I have x cores and 4 MD's they run on xxx hardware. Screens, multi room amps, home automation, all kind of orbitors and how they are linked together and so on. If you go to a big AV forum it would 99% have a section for 'My custom made home theatre' where users posts descriptions and pictures, not to brag or show off, but to share information and knowledge. That is very inspiring and I would love to see something like this here.

Best regards,

Emiku
