I have 2 voip phones connnected to my 8.10 installation.  One is a 7970 and the other phone is connected to an SPA-2000.  Both phone work for incoming and outgoing calls through a Broadvoice BYOD account.  But, after some time, both will become un-registered.  I get the message "The device you are using is not registered...".  If I reboot, or wait some more time, it may come back to life.  I can always make calls between the 2 phones.

Perhaps I am not allowed to have 2 registered devices with my basic Broadvoice account?  Do I need to pay more to have multiple phones even if ony one is ever being used at one time?

Thanks for any help.

Ok, the problem is definately my Sony TV and receiver, like I thought before but didn't want to believe it.

I know this because I can learn and use all my other non-Sony products.  I did actually successfully turn my TV on and off, plus several odds and ends trying all the included Pronto codes -- I can change to one input, but need one more.  I guess I will be able to plug away at it.

My AMP is something different all together.  It's a 5000ES and has a 2-way remote.  I cannot do a thing using LMCE with it.  Perhap the folks at EventGhost can let me know what they do to get the Sony learned commands to work.

Grrr!  I think I hate all those people who have not problems!!! :)

Since I am using distinct commands like Off and On instead of a power toggle, I grabbed the code from Remote-Central.com.  I know the codes work since I can transmit them from a Windows program.

I have tried to learn codes, but they have not worked either.  I think I will try to learn the codes under 8.10 and see what happens.  When I was using a beta 7.10, I could easily turn off and on my TV.  I also had success with 7.10 in my bedroom with my Samsung flat screen, but I used a template that came stock.  Now that I think back, I believe I was able to learn remaining codes for my Samsung TV.

I have also tried all the Pronto coded in 8.10 templates.  It has crossed my long time ago that Sony codes might just be different in some way, but I was able to originally control my TV so I am so confused.

I am giving it one more try going the the learning route.  I'll post any success of failure.

Thanks for everyone's input/statement of success.

Ok, sorry for my asking again.

Can someone give me the final word on whether the USB-UIRT works in 810?  I feel like I am at the end of my rope.  Had all the hopes that 810 would be different.  But, alas, I still get the same result.  My USB-UIRT transceiver (Protocol Ver. 1.1, Firmware Ver. 5.9, Date: 3/26/04) refuses to have anything to do with my Sony projection TV or Sony receiver.  All I need to have it do is to turn off/on both units and change volume and inputs.  I can't get any of it to work.  I can, however; get the USB-UIRT to work great with a Windows program called EventGhost.  If I take the exact codes that work with EventGhost and sub them into Linuxmce, I get a brief flash from the unit, but the TV and amp do not respond.

If anyone is interested, here are some of the codes I am trying to use:
Power On (Amp): 0000 0067 0000 0010 0060 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 037c
Power On (TV): 0000 0066 0000 000D 0060 0019 0018 0019 0030 0019 0030 0019 0030 0019 0018 0019 0030 0019 0018 0019 0030 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 03F7
DVD input (AMP): 0000 0068 0000 0010 0060 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0315

What I can tell you is that I see a difference in the transmission pulse; it is longer with EventGhost -- it's about 2x as long as the pulse from LMCE.  Does this mean anything to anyone?

If I am beating a dead horse, please say so.  If there is another avenue to control my devices that don't have serial ports, please speak up.  I can get everything else working , but this piece.

Help.

Ok, the man has a point.

I have to say that even though I have been an HA enthusiast for 20 plus years, I still am completely lost with LMCE.
But I really was only looking for a way to run my videos from a server without the need to locate one of hundreds of videos when my daughters wanted to watch one.  And I did get that.  All the other controlling features made me want more.

For years I have been dreaming of controlling lights and making movie and TV time an easier task without having to teach my family what equipment needs to be turned on and what settings to make.  Linuxmce can do this (just not anymore--at least for me).  I have spent more than a few thousand bucks on all the bits and pieces over the last 2 years but I should have stopped after the first couple of months.

Now, I consider myself an HA realist, not an HA optimist.  There is a reason other commercial systems cost $50,000+
Because it is that complicated and cannot be realistically maintained/designed by a few brilliant guys only.  LMCE is a colaboration of Linux and a variety of other Linux apps that have been integrated together and weren't necessarilly designed to work together.  It's a patchwork of free goodies that do not get developed at the same time.  Hence, we are always waiting for some developer to fix bugs before LMCE can move forward.

However, in the end, it's still LMCE for me.  It's FREE and you'll never be able to do the same thing with Windows.  Period.

Mike,

While I am waay not the expert on this, you do not need to populate the Ruby codes.  Just select the Insteon template and do a quick reload.

I believe it will start to locate your Insteon devices by itself, but if it doesn't, just put add an Insteon device and watch it go.

As far as it being beta, my guess is yes since it seems to be a bit touch and go.  (I have lots of difficulty.  After all, I am over 40!).

Installation issues / Re: IR problems with 8.10 BETA. Grrrr.
« on: October 30, 2009, 03:46:03 pm »
Wow!  What a response!

Well, just in case anyone is interested, I am now able to do a few things with my USB-UIRT.

I don't know what the differences are with the Pronto codes I got to work from a Windows box and the same USB-UIRT, with the sample Pronto codes that are already available in lmce.  Is anyone a Pronto code/USB-UIRT pro?  If so, I could use some help understanding.

The remaining issues are, 1, I still don't have the ability to change inputs on my Sony TV. , and 2, my Sony DA-5000ES is completely unresponsive to any of the built in codes.

Can anyone say that the have complete control of their equipment using a USB-UIRT?  It won't even learn codes (well, it learns them, but they do not work when tested.).

Any help would be appreciated.

Installation issues / IR problems with 8.10 BETA. Grrrr.
« on: October 27, 2009, 08:25:22 pm »
Ok, I know I must be doing something wrong.  From 7.10 to 8.10 Beta, I have not ever managed to consistantly had IR working for more that a brief time.  I have tried a USB-UIRT and a GC-100.

Let's start with the USB-UIRT.  How simple, just plug it in and poof it's available!  If I use an exiting Sony TV template, I can manage to get it to transmit something (lovely blinking light).  But, I cannot seem to get it to do more than correctly send a channel change command.  I know what you are thinking, perhaps I am using the wrong set of Pronto codes.  Nope.  If I plug int that very same USB-UIRT into my laptop and use a program called EventGhost, I can get the Sony TV and Sony receiver to dance a jig with the very same Pronto codes!    What is the difference?

In my frustration, I tried my old GC-100.  Plug it in and voila, LMCE sees it enought to install software for it.  Buuuuut!  I see no individual IR out interfaces like I did in 7.10 so no warm fuzzy.  I tried sending codes after making my Sony TV template use the GC-100, but not a single blinky blinky on the GC itself or at the emitter end.

Please slap me.  Ask me for more details (I am at work at the moment).

All I need to be a happy person again is the ability to turn on/off my TV and receiver... :'(

My vote is for VDPAU and HDPVR support.  Actually, exactly what krys suggested!

I'd easily donate $100+ for each.

Thom - look for a gift from me soon  ;D.  I hate that you are having such a tough time...

Thom, thanks for bringing this up.

You have to be the busiest and most energetic LMCE guy EVER and it's been a pleasure watching your short videos.

If only there could be short videos on how to start developing, or codeing/design tutorials, by example, on all the steps to add control for new hardware, I would dive right in.  I have some unix and linux experience, but have never developed any code for linux.  I am not a programmer by trade, but have messed around programming various "simple" serial networking protocols in C and C++.  Understanding how data is passed back and forth in a text tutorial or short video example, would be enough to fire me up to delve into LMCE development.

I know, this means more work from devs and others in-the-know, and I don't know any solution to this.
All I know is that this is a great project that deserves to continue and I want to help.

So far, for me, 810 alpha rocks (knock on wood).

I was a bit worried about the time investment at first, not knowing if a component I add one day will disappear the next.

But, so far, so good.

I love this project  ;D.

Thanks to the devs!

C'mon, watch the "idiot" talk.  Didn't your mother ever tell you to make friends, not enemies?

He doesn't deserve your blowup.  Take a prozac, will you.
