Users / Re: Adding Drives in LinuxMCE 810 Raid or not having problems
« on: October 14, 2009, 04:27:37 am »
Thanks for the response. I only put 1 HD in to see if it would reconize it and let me use it. I have check the reconfigure device and tried restarting. I have not been creating my raid then letting LCME find it. LCME created my raid for me. The raid I had in my machine came from my 710 box and worked great every time I put back in the 710 box. I broke the raid apart in hope that 810 would build it correctly.

Has anyone got 810 to use a HD correctly. I would like to use Raid0 just for the large space. Any help would be great and if anyone else is having problems post here and let see what is going on.

Users / Adding Drives in LMCE 810 Raid or not having problems
« on: October 14, 2009, 12:14:25 am »
Have recently gone to 810. I had 1 Raid 0 set-up in my 710 system. After my 810 was up and going I moved my raid over. I got LMCE web admin to see the raid, see the drives under the raid. Not able to see any files or add to. I pulled out my raid and put in my 710 box works great. After days of trying I decided to remove all my files and recreate the raid. After deleting the raid and trying to recreate I am not able to add my drives. Just not there in the drop down list. If I restart the Core it auto creates a raid 0 with the drives. Great but still not working. The raid is not online so I check that and even restart still nothing. When I go thru Samba and look at shares I see device ## as a share. Still not able to use. I have even just put 1 disk in and try to let LMCE use it. Something I see is "Raid Status 3" not sure what state that is? 0, 1, 2 or the numbers the tip tells me about. I did do a fdisk -1 forgot to keep the output before I removed the drives. It showed the Disks but stated the partitions where not usable or recognizable.

Good morning everyone. I am going to build a new 810 system next week. I would like to order the parts today. I have a few questions for anyone that has been using 810 on what hardware they are using. I have had problems with hardware compatibility before and would like to have a smooth transition this time. This will be a Hybrid with no MDs as of yet. There will be 2 -3 MDs when I get everything working.

1) Motherboard - As many sata connections as possible (I could put in a PCI-X SATA II Controller Card )
Dual Nic
HDMI would be nice but not needed,
Onboard video,
Intel or AMD.
I would like to be able to install several HD-5500 cards
2) Video Card if not on the motherboard.

Any help would be great

I haven't been on the boards for a while. I have been out enjoying Summer in Alaska. My Lmce box has been running great. I would like to use my new hardware and some of the new features of 810. Just curious how 810 is coming along and should I start using it.

Thanks for all the great work.

Pigdog I was asking about Ripping DvD's that i have created over the years. There is no copyright issues with the DvD's I have. When I first started putting my videos on Dvd the format was large and has lots of extra stuff I want to get rid of.

Thanks everyone for the great advice.

:)

I am looking for an easy solution to turn my DvD's into a more compressed format.I have hundreds of Dvd videos that I have created with menus and lots of extra stuff I do not want. When I let the Core rip them I get lots of extra. I have done some research and have tried lots of Window based programs, also I have tried some linux based programs but nothing that has wow'd me. If there is a better solution coming in 810 for this I can wait or if I have to do this on my desktop and transfer over to the core that would be great to. Any help would be great.

I think this is a great idea. I would toss in 100 to start the pot off. I would like to see everything set up first. See who is controlling the pot, list of Ideas for Development, etc..

I think as far as voting rights it should be who donates get proirity over those who don't.  But the Amount shouldn't matter. Some prople can afford more than others and should have the right to vote as much as the other person.

Just my thoughts :)

Sorry forgot about this. I just got around to this

You have sent $100.00 USD to thomas@localeconcept.com.

The core I am building is the hardware from the Fiire Engine. Polywell is the company and I am buying it direct from them. So it is a Core/Nas has a controller card in it.

Hello qkerby I have been doing some research on this since I wanted to buy a fire system myself. there are lots of good alternatives but if you want the fiire invisble the company that makes the hardware is Polywell. They do see all the hardware you might be looking for her is the link to the invisible.

http://www.polywell.com/us/oem/ThinSlimCX700M1.asp

They also sell the Fiire engine that I am buying form them this month myself. I plan on using EEE b202 for my first MD.

Cheers
