LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Not able to switch back to LinuxMCE after been using KDE desktop!!

No. but you can send a message to the media director device (for the core/hybrid, this is 1):
/usr/pluto/bin/MessageSend localhost 0 X 1 912 119 "0"
replace X with the PK_Device # of the Media director.
-Thom
Now I feel dumb agian Can I send message to the media director device, is this possible from the KDE desktop enviroment? So if I have an Core/hybrid the message would look like this: /usr/pluto/bin/MessageSend localhost 0 1 1 912 119 "0" But how can I send this message, from the teriminal, if so witch command? Thanks Thom for your answer. Sorry for my silver spoon needs

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Not able to switch back to LinuxMCE after been using KDE desktop!!
|
on: May 24, 2010, 07:10:27 am
|
Current install is LinuxMCE 8.10 beta 2 SVN 22969, UI2-3. HW; Mobo: Gigabyte E7AUM-DS2H, Core2 Duo E8400 (see sign for more HW info). When using the desktop enviroment, I have been using the task window named "OrbiterGL" and this will take me back to LinuxMCE. But after working a while in the desktop, the orbiterGL becomes unresponsive. Now I only see the flickr picture shifting after selecting "PlutoGalleryViewer". Seems like the LinuxMCE menu system is whent to sleep.... Now I have to do a forced restart, to get it working again

This error I can not help you with Mandigo, for the moment No PnP, but if I select "WinTV-NEXUS-S" in the LinuxMCE Admin page under Media Directors "PVR Capture Card" for my Hybride setup. The Set up Wizard will detected the card after a reboot. (Update: I noticed that this will hapen if the card is removed from the computer also... ) TV picture not testet yet. Think the card is using this firmware: dvb-ttpci-01.fw-2622. How can I chk this for sure?

LinuxMCE find my card PnP. Have not been able to scan for channels yet, due to the wiki guide here http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/VDR for the VDR was not sucsessfull for DVB-T Could not find a local transmitter for Norway Stavanger. I see in the scan examples that sweden, denmark, findland, uk, germany, australia, france etc is present, but none from Norway Can I make my own list, if so, is there a How-to?

Just found a post in the Hauppauge forum where Stephanie explaines that the different between HD and none HD, is the supply of CyberLink PowerCinema, with the M.264 decoder and sound codec AAC+. Included in the package. This post is however dated 15 July 2008, so maybe there is a newer version today Still have no replay on my post at Hauppauge forum... Mandigo: Just ordered the mobo in quest for my core, a ASUS M3N78-VM. Maybe ready to test the card in the weekend, if my order comes clean thru... I am also now making an new order for the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR4000-HD, in a different store this time Still not sure if I should return my twin aerial WinTV-Nova-TD-500, or not. I guess if it can be used with HD, as it also explaines in the manual, there is no need to get a version with the cyperlink software, as it is only usable in windows anyway. only reason must be if there is a newer card, or that the single aerial connector version works better in linux.. Any thoughts/speculation/facts on this to make up my mind, he-he

Why PCIe? Just find an old PCI one (perfect job for eBay) - again you're at risk of making the core unnecessarily uncomplicated here, in that you may have problems detecting it, installing it, etc. Check the wiki for NICs that are known to work..... unless you've already done that and the Gbit CNet PCIe card you mention is fine, in which case I apologise in advance As Andrew said, tried and tested hardware is the way forward, don't go for bleeding edge. Think space shuttle Think I tried the CNet with test build(did not have a good caputre card then). PCIe NIC to save a PCI slot for capture card. But I have ordered a Intel PCI card: INTEL DESKTOP ADAPTER INTEL PRO 1000 GT BULK. Just in case. So I guess my AMD setup is a good space shuttle then? Thinking of placeing the order in the following days * Mobo: Asus M3N78-VM * CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 240e * Ram: Kingston HyperX 2GB (2 x 1GB) * CPU Cooler: Zalman CPU-kjøler CNPS8700 NT

I was just looking at the Hauppauge webpage, and the "TD" / "T" is just mixed together... on the Scandinavian pages there are two models: WinTV-Nova-TD-500 http://www.hauppauge.se/site/products/data_novat500.htmlThis card has two aerial connectors!! WinTV-Nova-TD-500HD http://www.hauppauge.se/site/products/data_novat500hd.htmlIf you study the pictures for the HD version the "D" in "TD" is not there. But in the text it is. The HD version has only one aerial connector! And the card layout looks quite different from the none HD version, its a complete new card in my eyes!! Mine card however has two aerial, and looks like the none HD version labeled. Same in the United Kingdom pages, the "T" in "TD" is missing, but only in the picture banner. And there is no HD etition at all here. But for Germany,France, Spain etc. Here they have only the WinTV-Nova-T-500. And nice, they have a double picture banner that shows both single aerial and a double.... http://www.hauppauge.fr/site/products/data_novat500.htmlI think the pictures are wrong in those places, and that the text is most possible to be correct. That would make sence anyway... i think Hauppage needs to spend some time kleening up their naming schema/pictures for the nova 500 series, this gives me a headacke But regarding the "HD" label. I wonder if this label just shows that this is a retail product with the nessesary software codecs... From the Hauppage website on the HD version: Included with the WinTV v7 HD application with H.264 dekoder and support for AAC sound. Suitable for Norwegian broadcast I checked another webstore, and they show a picture of the card with one aerial connector and the HDTV Ready label. I think I have not received what I orderd in this case. Because as meantioned earlier I have two ariel conn. and no HD label either I am posting a question on the Hauppauge forum, to see what they could come up with!

Not sure what to make out of this labeling thing on this card I have received.... I ordered a WinTV-Nova-T-500- HD but seem to have received WinTV-Nova-T D-500. Since the printing on the card itself states WinTV-Nova-T D-500. Is this a regular practice from Hauppauge, to not update their pagaging and labeling on new revisons of theyr products? or have the reseller made som adjustment to an older product? I think I will contact the reseller about this, agree?

Yes Schmich, both NOVA-T-500 and NOVA-DT-500 is listed, so maybe the problems is in the past then. When I read from the box and manual with the NoVA-DT-500(actually there is a sticker on the box with the name: Hauppauge WinTV-Nova-T-500-HD, but the box, manual and PCI card states nova-TD-500..) it still talks about the "Diversity Technology" mode; one antenna shared for both tuners on Ant 1, or diversity mode with one antenna pr tuner Ant 1 and Ant 2 connected.
