Users / about to give up on MYTHTV!

such a simple thing really.. but it renders it totally useless here in the UK
simply.. I get to the xml grabber part in the gui and I tll it to grab from rt..
it says it will open in a terminal (so you can add or remove channels from the list)
but I can find NO WAY to get back to this terminal so I can get a viable epg!!
as I KNOW there is at least one CORE MYTHTV dev in our community (and he lives in the UK)
and I know HE has MYTHTV setup and working there MUST BE a way to do this...
right now.. beyondTV and TIVO are looking promising!!
I have been working on this particular quirk for months now...
any help would be greatly appreciated!
before I do something stupid!!

Users / has anyone in the UK got a WORKING EPG in MythTV in LinuxMCE?

simple question really...
I have never yet got a successful EPG and channel map!
anyone any ideas?
2 problems really...
never seem able to get back into the terminal after running mythconfig and telling it to use rt xml grabber! (that means I can't tell it what channels I have... and it locks up waiting for my response!
 using EIT I only get now and next on satellite

I also have no idea how to remove unused channels from the list and map the used channels against the information I should get from the xml grabber!

that means the channel order and the epg would not be in sync!!

finally is there any way to give channels a friendly channel number??
really going to channel 6307 for BBC1 and 5876 for BBC2 is a bit much (those are only examples of the type of channel numbers... they are so bizzar I can't remember the ACTUAL numbers lol)

anyone else having a problem with low energy lights and their USBUIRT?
if the unit gets even a sniff of the light from one of those low energy lamps it just goes crazy!!!
BTW what are we all going to do with our X10 dimmers and socket rockets when they outlaw incandescent lamps??
apparently the EU are discussing their removal from sale as I write this

I bought a m2npv-vm  to use as my core/hybrid.. it is still back at the manufacturers awaiting replacement after it boiled my processor (long story)
anyhow things have moved on and I need to use the m2n-mx se as the core but I need the slots so I need the onboard LAN and sound working!
neither of them seem to be detected
anyone tell me where to start?
according to what I have read in the Ubuntu forums this board should work "out of the box" with Gutsy??

so.. to start with the video caused the MD to become unstable after a few minutes!
so I installed a Nvidia GeForce 7300GS 512MB PCIe card allowing use of ui2 hassle free
but there was no sound?
as I wanted to use it now (and sort out further problems later) I grabbed a usb soundcard (based on the C-Media CM106-F with optical SPD/IF out) and as if by magic.. there was sound
however my joy was short lived!
intermittently the sound will disapear for a fraction of a second.. then continue maybe for another 30 seconds to a minute then it will drop out again!
most annoying!
anyone have any thoughts?

PS I am (pretty) sure the internal sound worked OK in beta4 I couldn't swear to it though lol!

hi all!
well.. I just let the magic smoke out of my Seleco svp-400 
seems it only supports horizontal syncs in the range 30 to 34 KHz (oh and 15 to 15.
vertical sync range is 50 to 150 Hz
so... before I nuke the line output stage (again) does anyone want to tell me what PC resolution that equates to?/
(it isn't so much repairing the Seleco thats the problem but at 40 Kg it is a pain to get of the ceiling lol!!)
anyone help me out on this please??

hi all!
OK I have got treo.cab on my wm6 phone and it seems to run yey!!
thing is when Sarah detects the phone she asks me what to do...
I tell her it is a wm2005 phone and she sends a message to my phone..
the phone immediatly asks for a key
I have tried 1234 1111 0000 but all have been rejected
any ideas??

Installation issues / MD image? (Resolved)

just setting up another MD
but after setup it randomly crashes
I notice the type setting for the image is "amd64" and my processor is a pentium D
if I set the image type to i386 the diskless setup fails
so what image should I be using for the p4 D?

Installation issues / myth setup?

hi all another stupid question (from a daft newbie)
during the myth tv setup
when setting up the xml grabber
it stops 50% in (waiting for your responses to channel listings)
I know at this point I have to open the originating console box
but I don't know how
sorry for yet another stupid question!

oh one last thing..
if I where to use VDR instead of myth.. do I still have to try and find an initial tuning file?
and can I use VDR with an external source (asy a cable box) and get the epg from somewhere?

Feature requests & roadmap / feature request-dreambox intergration

hi all
I have a dreambox 500 c (running enigma)
everything seems to run from tcp/ip
and the video is available to VLC
I see a plugin was started for the d-box so maybe there is a possibility??
certainly for me it would be a perfect capture device..
has it's own epg info
will stream video to the core
has software integration for remote recording..
looks like a winner to me
anyone have any thoughts?

Users / crashing core!

hi all!
I had a mains failure this morning
when I rebooted the core everything started ok..
but over the course of the next two minutes it gets slower and slower and (more or less) stops!
it does not respond to ctrl alt bachspace
if you move the mouse the cursor moves a bit about 30 seconds later!!
cannot access the admin site from another machine.. the only way to shut it down is to pull the plug!
I have checked the disk integrity and that seems ok

just wondering where to start really!
any help would be appreciated!

Installation issues / Marvell Yukon 88e8053 pxe for md

just trying to set up a shuttle as a diskless MD..
acquires an ip address from the router
then fails saying
ipconfig: no devices to configure
init: .: 1: can't open /tmp/net-eth0.conf
[  19.901449]      Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

I think I need to add a driver for the NIC and I had a look here http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/PXE
but as the MD has not been assigned a device number yet I am unsure how to proceed
can anyone point me in the right direction please?
