Users / Re: How to control TV via rs232
« on: July 09, 2008, 12:17:24 pm »
Hi
Does anyone know if there is a template for the LG 37LC7D 37" LCD.
It wasn't detected on setup and I have yet to work out how to get it working.
I have connected it through the RS232.

Thanx

Does anyone know if Linutop's can be used as MDs. They are small and seem to have everything.
They also look mountable to TVs/LCDs.
Thanx

Anyone known if it is possible to get a PXE boot over wireless.
If not, does anyone know of a good LAN extended.
Somethin I can connect the RJ45 slots into and have them all talk to each other, like as if they were on a LAN.
Maybe even connect 1 into the switch.
Thanx.

There probably is better options but as a lot of people have this, it would be nice to use it as an MD.
I would like to have a common setup/interface on all my systems. Also the remote control is fairly handy.
Last thing, it is cheaper to buy a 4GB CF or a 4GB SD card than to buy another device.
I'm just trying to get a little bit more mileage out of this purchase.
Thanx for your reply.

I have a Neuros OSD device. It is a great little media system.
I was wondering if anyone had any luck (or even tried) getting it to boot an MD image.
The size and power of these would make them a great MD.
Also they are Linux based so I think the source can be downloaded, (they say they are all for open-source so I can't see why they wouldn't want it to be able to boot the MD images for LinuxMCE).

Users / A few Questions/Issues with 0710 b4
« on: April 02, 2008, 11:17:59 am »
Hi
I am using an Asus M2N-VM DVI mother board for my LinuxMCE setup.
I have a few issues/questions I would like to ask, if I may.
On setup I only got a choice for analog sound setup, there seems to be none for Multichannel setup (My board supports 6-channel).
In the linuxmce admin program on the desktop, I see an option under sound that lets me choose multi-channel but it doesn't give any options on the type, i.e. 2, 2.1, 5.1, 6 etc.
I have chosen the multichannel option but is there a way I can test the sound is working correctly from all speakers, i.e. some type of sound test program that tests all front, rear and center speakers.
Also I have a SATA DVD-Drive, this worked fine for the install and I have added all the codecs needed, but when I put in a DVD it just sits there and does nothing. I have searched through the video section in the GUI and it doesn't show the DVD. If I try to rip it, I can't, (Sorry I don't have the error message on me). Should a DVD startup straight away once placed in the drive.

Lastly I bought a LG LCD 37LC46 TV which has the RS232 connection, I have not attached it yet to the COM port as I am trying to get my hands on a DB9 to IDC/10 internal serial cable to do this. Does anyone know where I can get one. Also I have seen in the hardware section of the wiki that the LGs are working with LinuxMCE but can anyone verify if this model does.

Thanks for everything.

Installation issues / Re: 0710 b3 amd64 install / pvr-350 not detected

Has anyone an update on this. This is the one thing I hate about OS projects. You ask a question and a lot of the time no one gives you a reply. Even if someone had a suggestion, but no instead you keep checking back to find no reply and end up having to use a half-working system, or move on to some proprietary piece of crap because at least they support your hardware. I mean if you check through the forum, i think every time this question has been raised the post ends up lying stagnant after people just give up helping.
