I just ordered the KNC ONE PCI DVB-C card.... i will post results, the moment the card arrives.

And Mandigo, as i haven't tried creating templates before and i got lost in the wiki, i would love to see some wiki/documentation, so that more of us could suuport in little babysteps. How about that idea?
Cheers,
Pat

What i would donate for is a better support of media file like mkv . I would love to have a feature, that rips my DVD to any prefered codec like h264 or sth. else, keeps the language  tracks, maybe specials etc. Afterwards the file would be half the size e.g. may be more 3 GB than up to 7 or 8 with my DVD isos. That would safe a lot of space on any file server, and less data to supply to the MDs. If a feature like that would be (pls. don't beat me up) pnp with covers etc... I'm sure people wpuld donate... it would be a bargain.  ;O)

Thom,
i just sent you half an hour of work... get this thing rockin! ;O)
thx,

i wouldn't mind to get rid of the antenna. I own a netgear 511, 3Com Xjack, ZCom 325HP+ etc. All the Stuff flying in my techi-boxes ;O) So i wouldn't mind to just plug in the pcmcia card w/o the antenna or the mmcx connector.
@Hari, you mentioned your workaround to me once, but honestly... i sucked ;O)
Maybe one of the more skilled might create a wiki page for the driver compiling with debootstrap?
And my be, the compiled drivers might go into the builder, so that one can pick the drivers via the web frontend. If everybody could compile the hardware they have lying around, we might get a bunch of HW-Support together.

Just an idea...

Hi,

as i do not like the idea of having a WEP "Secured" Wireless LAN, i would love to see some additional support other than the build-in Cisco Aironet 350 as this one just supports WEP, NO WPA.

Just a thought...

P.

Thom,

i love the Webpad and am willing to support you.
A task that seems to me (non-dev-pro!) not that time consuming but boost some our installations, is
to add more driver support for wifi-nics supporting WPA on the WebPad. For now the weakest link in my network is my orbiter and my girlfriend ;O)

Anyway... i just did send you some support-bucks.

Users / Re: Bluetooth detection for new devices... where is the code?
« on: July 03, 2009, 07:55:53 am »
Haha... remembers me of the good old time, living downtown... and you have to click away like hundreds of  BT-Detection before you could use your LMCE ;O) Good Luck Colin!

hybriod shoudl be fine, as long as you have you don't want to attach to much stuff.
Whats the purpose of sth. small, when anything else is attached via USB like HD, TV etc...

Installation issues / Re: How to switch LinuxMCE from UI2 to UI1
« on: June 24, 2009, 12:20:50 pm »
flying,

you just need to get into the AV-Wizard again (hold shift key while booting) and rerun it. There you can choose your resolution, UIx etc.

Good luck..

Pat

P.S: I guess you can edit the webadmin as well... but the AV-Wizards worked 4 me

Users / Re: Tuner Card Support - Please Weigh-in
« on: June 17, 2009, 10:36:39 pm »
I pretty much like the Terratec Cards&Sticks.
I own the Cinergy DT USB XS Diversity which is a Dual Tuner DVB-T stick and a Terratec 1200 DVB-T.
I kind of like the stick as it is a dual tuner, supported in the kernel since 8.10 and starts at 60€ in germany/europe. http://geizhals.at/eu/a192086.html

Let me know if i can help...

Patrick ;O)

Hey,

i just ordered an digital frame which has the feature to download picture that were sent via mail to some email address. I kind of like the idea, to keep the pictures updated, send them to friends (which own LMCE) etc.
So how about getting this up for LMCE?  ;O)

Cheers,

Pat

simon_b,

the alpha-install script is quite picky with the network interfaces. This means eth0 HAS to be the internet connection,
eth1 the internal network. i screwed up my first install, not knowing of the eth0/1 thing... took me quite a while, as i usually assume, LMCE and its Devs are smarter than me, and figured out the case long before got to the point.
You can easily change the network aliases (eth1 <=>eth0) within /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules. just use your beloved editor of choice and edit this file.
Heres a link, showing what excatly has to be done.
