LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Apple applies for patent to resume media playback on another device

I spoke with my tenant, who just so happens to work at the USPTO in DC, and she said the likelihood of this being approved is very slim. She said companies try this crap all the time, but the approval board normally won't grant a patent for something like this. Unfortunately she's in the finance department, so she's not privy to the details of any patent requests. I'll see if I can gather anymore information from her. Ernesto

Is there a way to handle boxed-sets, so that I would select, say "The Wire Season 3" and then see all the discs within that title?
I know that this is possible, but I just don't know how to get it done. If you figure it out, please provide the steps you follow so that they can be added to the wiki. Ernesto

Did you see this? Sorry, I forgot to mention in my last post, You can work around the hang-up by going into a terminal on the media director and typing, killall -9 Hulu_Player
It will then respawn in 10 seconds, and everything will be okay. I know it's not ideal, but this will work until I fix it (which will be when I get back from London in a couple of days.) -Thom Problem solved. Thanks for the info huh.

LinuxMCE / Users / Hulu Player not starting after router reload
|
on: March 21, 2010, 03:15:26 pm

Hello, I'm not sure if anyone else is having the same problem, but I had been using the awesome Hulu Player (Thanks Thom) for about week, then for some reason it just wouldn't start whenever I try to activate the program from the UI. After a router reload I noticed the Hulu_Player was timing out before the completion of the reload. I've tried uninstalling the package on both MD's, and updating the sqlCVS as well, but nothing helps. I've provided some log data, but I can provide more if necessary. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ernesto == ATTEMPT FRESH START == 1 03/21/10 10:03:49 Spawn_Device.sh 81 (spawning-device) 1303 Dev: 81; Already Running list: 67,68,70,75,78,79,81,69,73,74,71,72, 1 03/21/10 10:03:50 Spawn_Device.sh 81 (spawning-device) 1303 Device 81 was marked as 'running'. ccoudsi,
I tried your performing the install as you suggested, but I'm seeing the brief MySQL error, and then the system reboots and repeats the process. Any ideas?
**Update**
After a reboot the system comes up and stays up, but the AVWizard doesn't come up. When I press the buttons that correspond to the output of my TV it says that it's not supported. This happens with both DVI and VGA connections.

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: No sound after Beta 2 Installation

try going to a command prompt and run alsamixer I have found after installation some things get turned off. Use the arrow keys to go thru the different items and use the 'm' key to toggle them off and on. Then hit escape to exit. Hope this helps.
Thanks Kyfalcon. Your advice worked on my core, but I'm still having trouble with the sound on the Diskless MD. I don't understand why it's acting up now, when it was working fine with Beta 1. Ernesto

More info please! What mobo are you using, sound card if applicable, connection type?
Sorry about that, but I thought that since my beta 1 install had no problems with sound that this might have been a common issue. Mobo: ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard Onboard Sound card: Analog connection

So I've completed my Beta 2 installation, but I'm having problems getting the sound going. To be perfectly honest, I have no clue what the problem could be as I as all the alsa packages installed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
