Installation issues / Re: LG LCD Template
« on: July 26, 2010, 01:19:48 am »

I just bought a LG LD450, and I started testing your LG template. I've trying to do things like turn down the volume and/or mute the tv, but I'm not seeing the commands change the status on the TV. I believe I have correctly added the template to my MD which connected to my TV, but I was thinking that there might be something missing. Please let me know if you need for me to submit a screenshot for you.

Installation issues / Re: apt-get update -> "Hash Sum mismatch"

The snapshot DVD (or any DVD install for that matter), is a matter of plugging the DVD in, boot it, select LinuxMCE install, let the kubuntu install go through, reboot, select LinuxMCE install from the desktop, done

I can confirm posde instructions. After downloading and burning the DVD snapshot iso, I installed Kubuntu, rebooted, and ran the LMCE install on the desktop. Nothing more was done aside from normal LMCE configurations steps (i.e. avwizard). Everything is working now.

I have sent an email to the USPTO, with the following text:

Can someone else look for alternative methods of contact?

I spoke with my tenant, who just so happens to work at the USPTO in DC, and she said the likelihood of this being approved is very slim. She said companies try this crap all the time, but the approval board normally won't grant a patent for something like this. Unfortunately she's in the finance department, so she's not privy to the details of any patent requests. I'll see if I can gather anymore information from her.

Users / Re: DVD Collection Management - Boxed sets and Cover art

Is there a way to handle boxed-sets, so that I would select, say "The Wire Season 3" and then see all the discs within that title?

I know that this is possible, but I just don't know how to get it done. If you figure it out, please provide the steps you follow so that they can be added to the wiki.

Dude, I think my hot water heater is smaller than this behemoth. Hopefully this is just gag.

Users / Re: Hulu Player not starting after router reload

Did you see this?

Sorry, I forgot to mention in my last post,

You can work around the hang-up by going into a terminal on the media director and typing,

Code: [Select]
killall -9 Hulu_Player

It will then respawn in 10 seconds, and everything will be okay.

I know it's not ideal, but this will work until I fix it (which will be when I get back from London in a couple of days.)

Problem solved. Thanks for the info huh.

Users / Hulu Player not starting after router reload
« on: March 21, 2010, 03:15:26 pm »

I'm not sure if anyone else is having the same problem, but I had been using the awesome Hulu Player (Thanks Thom) for about week, then for some reason it just wouldn't start whenever I try to activate the program from the UI.  After a router reload I noticed the Hulu_Player was timing out before the completion of the reload.  I've tried uninstalling the package on both MD's, and updating the sqlCVS as well, but nothing helps. I've provided some log data, but I can provide more if necessary. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Installation issues / Re: reinstall Q

I tried your performing the install as you suggested, but I'm seeing the brief MySQL error, and then the system reboots and repeats the process. Any ideas?

After a reboot the system comes up and stays up, but the AVWizard doesn't come up. When I press the buttons that correspond to the output of my TV it says that it's not supported. This happens with both DVI and VGA connections.

I'm seeing the same MySQL message, but I can't make out what exactly it's saying.  I performed both the DVD install using the instructions on the wiki, and I also tried the net install. Both seem to be problematic.  I'm going to be doing more troubleshooting.

**Update**: I saw the following thread that I think may be useful.

Since the MythTV option will require more time can the "LiveTV" option be made to use Firewire similar to the way that it uses the PVR-x50?

I know there are holes in the docs I just got it working over the weekend and the wiki entry is a scratch board for now - Feel free to update the Wiki.

The intention is to eventually fold this in to the hdhomerun install.

I'd like to update the Wiki with the procedure I used for getting my Comcast Channels set up in Myth without the comcast_update script. It's really simple and sets everything up perfectly.  It's actually part of the instructions on the this site:

Installation issues / Re: [SOLVED] No sound after Beta 2 Installation

I re-imaged my MD, and after I made it a i386, the audio issue cleared itself up.

Thanks for the help,

try going to a command prompt and run alsamixer I have found after installation some things get turned off. Use the arrow keys to go thru the different items and use the 'm' key to toggle them off and on. Then hit escape to exit. Hope this helps.

Thanks Kyfalcon. Your advice worked on my core, but I'm still having trouble with the sound on the Diskless MD. I don't understand why it's acting up now, when it was working fine with Beta 1.

More info please! What mobo are you using, sound card if applicable, connection type?

Sorry about that, but I thought that since my beta 1 install had no problems with sound that this might have been a common issue.

Mobo: ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard

Onboard Sound card: Analog connection
