Just one question, when Fiire Chief finally works in 0810 I will need make a fresh install or can I just upgrade my current instalation?

hi guyz,

I don't know how, but I fixed this.. I just reset my mythfrontend (mythfrontend --reset) because I lost some configuration and when I setup mythtv again my tv worked like a charm.

Installation issues / mythtv coloured bar [FIXED]

Hi all

When I start TV playback, one coloured bar appears on the botton of screen (picture attached).
I fix this using the front end setup, on playback setup menu, fixing vertical scale from 2 (original) to 11. But when I reload router or restart the core mythtv back to original configuration, changing the vertical scale to 2 again and the coloured bar apperars again.
Anyone knows how can I fix this? forever?

Another question, what is the maximum bitrate to use with PVR 500?

Installation issues / Re: 0810 Alpha install problems - how long to wait?

I've tried to install 810 3 times and I keep getting stuck on the same thing -- Couldn't find package pluto orbiter - waiting 10 secs to try again.

Has anyone else encountered this? Will it eventually find this or am I up a creek without a paddle. I'm miss my linuxmce!

I missed some days getting this same error...
To solve that I burned another cd with kubuntu 0810 (downloaded from the wiki - link - http://mirrors.ccs.neu.edu/releases.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/8.10/kubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso). Just run the upgrades by aptitude.. not from the desktops alerts..
 
After this I follow the instructions and the instalation was ok.

Now I just have problems with my video card.. following the instructions, when I installed kubuntu I activate the restricted driver, everything works well, but after MCE installs I just get strange resolutions, I try to fix changing xorg.conf file but doesn´t worked...I enable again the restricted drivers but after restart I just get the black screen with DCE ROUTER LOGIN:.... :/

hi guyz..
I still having this problem (2).. I tried to change the AV/Advance settings but nothing changed..I found some information about the scenarios of livetv but nothing change too..

I will try to explain again what happens

When I choose TV on UI, my usb uirt send 4 or 5 digits to my cable box. But I do not press anything in fiire chief, he tells it himself, and then to send it to those digits, but I can only change channels using the original control, but after this if I try change channel with fiire chief it again sends the random digits to uirt..

I know, I´m very newbie in linux but agree with me..  it is not sooo easy for anyone get everything working.. when I started this project to my home I knew it would not be easy, but now I'm so close to get everything working, so I ask you to have patience.

I make this video, but I don´t know if it can help because the resolution is poor and missed the details of channel changing.

* tschak909 was right, but on 0710 version I don´t find the option to change the # or times IR codes are transmitted.. I Installed alpha latest now and when I was learning my codes I see that the UIRT was not learning codes at all, just some parts, and now I learned again with taking care to get all codes. After this I changed the # of times IR are transmitted and everything worked fine.
Thanks so much. Now I just need to configure mythtv front end and make my fiire chief works with alpha.. any sugestions?

I almost done!
But now I have another problem with mythtv and usbuirt. I thing this is because the "external channel changer script"

My cable box is controled by USB UIRT, and 2 weird things are happens when I select "TV" from menu on UI.

1- The TV is turned OFF automatically when i select TV on UI, and then, I need to turn it ON, after this all commands works like a charm.
2- When mythtv shows the first TV image, USB-UIRT send multiple commands to my cable box (e.g 334400) and I can´t change channels, because every time when I press the number of one channel, USB UIRT send other numbers, and the number I was trying to input is ignored.

Inside mythtv setup, I select channel 3 to "preset tuner to channel" and I type the command to use external change channels script, like show the wiki.

I already buy the usb uirt and the xantech ir emitters, but I keep having dificults to make the things works.. 

I create the device templates for my TV and my cable box, the TV recognized the IR codes and comunicate with the USBUIRT, the ir emiter turn on a red light when I send some command, and the command works. But when I use in the system, my fiire chief don´t control my tv.. and when I press one button (volume for example) it turns my TV OFF (just when I press the first button on fiire), and to turn on again I need use the original control of my tv. After this fiire keeps no controlling my tv..
I was making everything wrong, now I create a new device and I put all of the inputs of TV.. now LMCE control everything on my tv and cable box. 


My cable box don´t have Pronto Codes, it is a RCA cable box, designed for my TV provider. When I try to learn codes using USBUIRT inside "AV Properties" of my cable box, I just don´t receive any flash lights when I press the button on the cable box controller... I don´t know how to make my usb uirt learn codes from my cable box.. anyone help me?
I was trying learn codes close of ir emitter, and not on USBUIRT! Now I solved this.

Below in the link are images of some screenshots of my web admin panel to show my conection wizard, av devices, I think the problem is there, but can be PEBKAC too

My cable box is connected to my PVR 500 on the composite port, and my TV is connected by RGB cable. The sound is connected by one P2 cable jack (like headphones).



The unique problem right now are auto change channels on mythtv.

Hello,

After almost one year trying to make my sytem work 100%, I almost done.. but I have some problems and now I come to the forum to see if anybody can help me..sorry about my poor english but I think you can understand me.

1) I have a Fiire Chief and I can't control my channels because I use a cable box, or sattelite box, I don't know how can I call this, and it use the "composite" inputs to connect to my PVR 500. My question is.. I need to make a IR blaster? (sorry, I really don't have idea how to get this working, and IR Blaster is the only thing that I found referring to control channels...) Or anything to get the control of my channels on the cable box? And how can I make this?

2) I have a 32" Samsung LCD TV (LN32A330J1), and I can't control the volume... I just have control of the TV when I press the button "TV".. .but I would like to use the gyro function to control volume without need to press the TV button... and finally get the 3 buttons to control all in the LCME...

3) When I use the option "Power Off", I can't power off just the TV.. or I power off everything or when I press to turn off TV and nothing happens.

Well..that's it.

I use one of these (actually looking for 1 more) as an MD in my Family Room. You are correct, it s the default behavior of the MD to use the internal speaker set, this is a limitation of the business class hardware that is the Evo.

What I have to do is use CTRL-ALT-F2 and get to a terminal on the MD. Login as root, run

alsamixerand mute the Headphone setting. After I do that the sound switches instantly to the external source, and then to make sure it sticks, I run

Code: [Select]

alsactl store
Once this is done it uses the correct output on concurrent reboots.

Hope that helps. And if you want to get rid of one or two of those Evo's, let me know

Hi,
I tried run alsamixer in my core/md but I get the message saying that alsamixer is not instaled, or something like this.. my sound on LinuxMCE are controled by kmix... I think so.. (is the one way to change volume on LinuxMCE, but only on KDE or with the control of TV).. and I can´t control with my fiire chief.. I looked for how to get this working but i have no success.. :/ Will I need instal alsamixer to control volume with my fiire chief?

After trying many connections whitout success, I just have composite imputs to get the signals from my cable provider, the signal is better than others imputs, but I can´t change the channels using the Fiire Chief.. I need to make an IR-Blaster, but I don´t have idea how can I do this.. I will search more to get everything working.
How do yout change channels using the s-video imput? need an IR-Blaster too?

well.. i have the same problem.. when using mythtv i get low quality image...but when I look the tv guide and resize the tv screen the image is perfect..
its look likre an problem of image resolution..i don´t know..

I have setup my hybrid so many times now I have lost count . I have gone though the setup of mythtv and have configured my cards.

I can connect to the backend from any mythtv-frontend on a seperate system. Currently ubuntu gutsy on my laptop and what the feed from both my pvr-150 and pvr-350 all is wel. But I CANNOT watch tv inside linuxmce. i just get a black screen and then a mesage sying that myth is having problems , can I reset the backend. I just say no and escape.

How is it that the server can be working and the frontend not in a supposedly stable product. I am using 7.04 since 7.10b3 was a wste of time in terms of stability. Surely something as fundemental as playinf the tv feed should work

well... do not worked.. I still have the black screen into the orbiter.. to watch TV with my PCR 500 only window$ works.. 

anybody have success? I don´t understand why, but on the computing menu into mce nothing works. A bug or installation problem?
