LinuxMCE / Users / Re: MD Display dissapears during Video Wizard

I hooked up a working MD and tried the shift and it worked well, then verified the # keys, not function keys and it did work on the known good MD. I do know I am in the av wizard though on the laptop as the key presses do cause the laptop lcd to flicker. Next time its on, i will check the log.
Not a big deal, just thought I could make some testing easier with a laptop I don't use...
Thanks!

I am only editing the xorg.conf after the av wizard completes with the vesa driver. I then switch back the nvidia driver and try the edits rebooting in between. Its an older Quadro FX 1400 so I never updated the drivers as I don't believe it needs the newer one. If I boot with the nvidia driver, I can only get video on the external dvi connector if I hit tty1. Once I type X the display vanishes.
I tried hitting shift to get the av wizard to start but that didn't seem to do anything (does that work for a diskless MD?).
I presume I might need to update the drivers as mentioned, I avoided this as I am still new to LinuxMCE and doubted I would be able to fix everything that broke.
Thanks.

LinuxMCE / Users / MD Display dissapears during Video Wizard
|

I booted a MD, it ran through the setup_diskless, rebooted, but when the display mangler started so the Video Wizard could launch the display dissapeared. This MD is a laptop with a DVI and S Video output, but I only have a VGA/DVI monitor at this location so I need to force it to use either the built in display or the dvi output. I read http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Display_Drivers but I don't get video at either the dvi connector or the built in LCD? I can only get video and complete the Video Wizard with the vesa driver, not the nvidia driver. I have tried the Option "ConnectedMonitor" "XXX" with every variance to no avail? Any ideas? Thanks!

Anyone see why this wouldn't work? Aside from the likely abysmal video performance, it probably would make a solid machine. I won't ever be using is with a monitor anyway...
Thanks!

Hi Thom, Appreciate the pointer here. After verifying with our supplier regarding the Apex Destiny 6100 (which they claim is a Honeywell unit), they suggest it is discontinued with no replacement. I am open to suggesting what ever is known to work well, do you have another recommendation of a model you know to work seamlessly? I tried to drill through the "Add Device Security" menu in the web admin, and couldn't figure out a way to enumerate just panels so I could figure this out on my own.
Thanks so much for the help!

Because of a specific vendor choice, I am being asked to implement either a Caddx NX-8E or an Apex Destiny-6100. Both will be wired directly to the core via rs-232. Does anyone have any opinions as to the ease of use between these two related only to its integration with LinuxMCE?
Thanks! jlc

Very nice, thanks! I would probably use those but I am still hoping to find a super thing unit that takes a mini itx with a riser and bends a full height video card over. I have seen them, but so far every one I know o is ugly... Thanks!

I have been searching forever for a nice case, I stumbled on http://www.hushtechnologies.net/ and those have got to be the nicest case I have seen. I am not opposed to using a mini itx with a riser to get a good graphics card in. Anyone know a manufacturer that makes cases as good as these? Thanks!

LinuxMCE / Users / Controlling Somfy Blinds with a Universal RTS Interface II

The Somfy RTS Blind Motors can be controlled via an RS232/485 port on a single RF transmitter. The manual for their RS232 devices suggests:
Use the ASCII protocol: <!> <2 digit unit code> <Directional Command> NOTE: directional command must be capital letters. example; to send a command for motor 3 to go up: !03U
Can anyone outline the procedure, I don't mind reading through the wiki, but I am not sure what to read? A ref to the section would be appreciated!
Thanks!

In the Web Admin I clicked setup diskless MD, I then did a quick reload (Also had to reboot for another reason) yet I still can not add a diskless MD, it fails to dl the config file through tftp.
Anyone know what I missed?
Thanks!
