1  LinuxMCE / Users / Atom based touch screen md on: January 23, 2013, 02:34:02 pm
Does anyone know the model of the one used with the Dianemo systems? Although I see the merit in other configurations
I am stuck utilizing just one instance like this.

Thanks guys.

Ok, it turns out based on the info from the two posts and link that they either will use existing ipads or buy a Nexus 7/10.

So that leaves the requirements for the md, but without video Posde's suggesting is appealing, Posde do you refer to the Squeezebox Receiver (C-RM66) as the device to drive with a pad orbitor?

Thanks a lot guys!

I had planned for sometime when a kitchen was done to use a tablet as an Orbiter with a frame, stuck to the wall.

Now I need to drive a tuner and play sound etc at this location, so I figure I should just use a touch panel based computer as an md. Whats the currently best option for one of these now?

Thanks!

Turns out 12.04.1 is what breaks it, installing from 12.04 makes it work.

Thanks hari,
One last question for davegravy, so I have a zstick and minimote. Excuse the noob lack of understanding but the associations in your case are then stored in the zstick and read in by your core? I assume the homeseer ware was only used temporarily and the core picked up the task of controlling them? Could I use the minimote in place of the homeseer app when I get around to this?

Thanks for the patience:)

Hey davegravy,
I am soon to setup several of these, did you figure out your issue?

Thanks
7  LinuxMCE / Users / Dianemo S: Issues setting up core on server with ATI ES1000 on: September 15, 2012, 11:23:02 pm
Looking through the wiki it seems this shouldn't be a problem. I am pretty sure I had it running with a 12.04 install but now each time I try with 12.04.1 once Dianemo installs it reboots with a flicker between a blank screen and the console login.

This core will never be used for viewing media, is there a way to set this up remotely or bypass the wizard and let it remain at a console login if it can't be fixed?

Thanks!

Appreciate the insight. Looks like a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is affordable. I'll give one a whirl!

Thanks guys!
9  LinuxMCE / Users / Orbiter with knock off web pads on: April 24, 2012, 10:07:58 pm
Probably a couple years ago I saw some ~$150ish web pad knock offs, anyone using something in that price range with success?
If not, what are the most economical pads people have found that work well.

I know I can use a Nok 900, but its disco'ed and expensive as hell. Seems from looking through the forum the ipad is pretty solid now, but thats expensive as hell just the same.

Thanks guys!

Thanks everyone!

Seems both GE and Leviton make zwave products which are easily available to me.
Anyone have experience with their light switches and receptacles for example? I'd still be fine to order a Seluxit viaSENS controller and a Aeon Labs Minimote inclusion remote as Purps uses/

Thanks!

Appreciate the reco, being in North America that one might be harder to get. I guess the zwave standard should make it safe to use with anything I find here, but I have read some incompatibilities obviously exist between vendors.

I'll get on to looking around for Canadian based vendors.

Thanks!

The wiring is done unfortunately, I had heard of KNX years ago but didn't know that it was available in north america...

According to the wiki, the Aeon Labs Z-Wave Interface usb dongle looks pretty slick.

Thanks guys.

Its been a while since I have been involved with mce, looking through the wiki I gather ZWave would be the best option for a Canadian based home? Anyone have any opinions, I would be grateful.

Thanks!
