Great,
I am passed that and still pulling in deps. Forgive me as I only have RHEL experience but does Debian/Kubuntu have a yum-fastestmirror equiv as I am getting really bad dl speeds pulling in stuff like gcc etc?

Thanks!

Thank you Hari,
I started the first script last night to pull down the dev deps and as this script finishes installing stuff it continues to prompt for a MySQL root pw, should I configure one? Is there a place later that I would need to configure what ever pass I entered?

Appreciate all the help!

Appreciate the seasoned advice, I was just eager to preview what was in the current tree and keen on the experience/knowledge gained from doing it this way.
Are there any places to look for more detailed info on building the dvd then http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Building_LinuxMCE as it leaves out any detail on that step.

O/T under this thread, but I was curious about any enhancements to Insteon products, namely the 2412N as that's all I have.

Thanks for the quick reply and i appreciate any insight!

I am reading the wiki link (which points to Building for 0804) and pulling down Kubuntu now but just wanted to clarify something on making the install discs. If I want to make cd's, its as simple as running the noted scripts and does not require a vm instance whereas if i wanted to make the dvd, I would then need a vm instance?

Thanks!

Anyone know if this behaves like a 2412S so that DDamrons ruby scripts could work? From reading his wiki notes, it appears they only function with a serial/usb type unit.

Thanks

Hi,
I did review that link before posting, but as the mce scene can sometimes be a bit of a moving target given the broad range equipment available, I was hoping for specific reco's on the two items I posted a request for info on. I am familiar with that link's reco on Insteon controllers and will obviously use one those supported controllers.

Thanks

I am planning the purchase of all Insteon equipment for a new house almost ready for wiring.
I wanted to use HVAC and Alarm controls from Insteon that are compatible with mce.

Anyone done those two things that can share any info/experiences and suggest what models they used successfully?

Thanks!

Installation issues / Re: GA-73PVM-S2H as Diskless MD
« on: June 27, 2008, 03:05:49 pm »
Appreciate the info very much. If I can't make the GA-73PVM-S2H work with the Intel NIC easily, will grab an AN-M2HD and continue with that.

Thanks!

Saw the audio issues, but missed the nic one :( I think I will throw a pro1000 in it just to play, but I am not opposed to getting a new board.
What is current and new with similar specs that runs a quadcore you would reco that works without mods?

Thanks for the help!

Installation issues / GA-73PVM-S2H as Diskless MD
« on: June 25, 2008, 11:42:45 pm »
Hi,
New to the scene and wondered about adding this NIC to the x64 image for diskless MD boot.
I am reading http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Unrecognized_NIC and it seems a bit ambiguous.

After an updatedb, I couldn't locate the script, so I assume running the command below
mkinitramfs -d /etc/initramfs-tools-interactor/ -o /tftpboot/default/initrd
would be correct, and that does that also need to be rebuilt when you regen a director?

Also, anyone know which module I need to use for the 8211B in that mobo? Would I have to add this module to the list of available ones somehow?

Thanks!

Installation issues / Re: Core Setup
« on: June 20, 2008, 08:39:28 pm »
I re read the docs and no where that I saw does it actually state that a Core, not Hybrid, should have that unchecked. Logically I deduced it would be fine and was intended. I can always start it if need be without ramifications after the fact I presume?

Thanks for the confirmation!

Is it correct though to not boot into the actual interface on a core, or is that normal? Does one just create a "Room" called "Core" for example and let it run despite its headless and never accessed?

Thanks for the quick reply!

Installation issues / Re: PXE-Boot hangs up, looping......
« on: June 20, 2008, 12:55:46 am »
I am new to Linux MCE, but I know from PXE installs of Linux for servers which often have two nics the problem I think you are seeing is that possibly the nic that is plugged in and receives the pxe file starts, then the OS attempts to continue loading off the second nic. There are a few RH specific things to control this, but as I have no experience yet with Debian based Linux I wouldn't know what to add to the boot line.

Maybe someone familiar with this process in Debian based Linux can apply it here?
