LinuxMCE / Users / Re: ssh to MD

Here is what I do. Become root 'sudo -i' and then ssh to moonXX substituting the XX with your particular MD. My example sudo -i <password> usually "linuxmce" ssh moon42 It does not prompt for a password, when doing so as root. Hope that helps.

LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: Channel Icons...anyone got some?

How does one check in this master icon set. I too only have like 5 icons, and I have dish network. I would really like to figure out how to get the rest. I seem to remember back in my mythtv days running a command like mythfilldatabse --import-icon-map channels.xml or something like that. I guess the question is where to get the channels.xml file?

I would go with the cm11a standard serial version. It is the best tested/known working version, and a usb to serial converter can be purchased for less than $20 in most cases. And with cm11a's selling on e-bay, for $5 to $10 a piece. It is a very economical solution. I use one of these with a Trendnet usb to serial adapter on my test system, and it works well. LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: No sound from playing movies but works everywhere else.

OK. I was having the same issue. Here is what I did to temporarily resolve it. After getting the system up, to where the mythtv is playing via digital audio, open the webadmin, go to the media directors page, and on the media director you are using digital on, from the drop down box under audio, select stereo. But leave the AC3 box checked. At the bottom click update, and then do a router reload. Now my videos and my mythtv play using the digital output. This is not a fix, and there is an issue, but it can be used as a temporary workaround. Hope this helps.

I can honestly say, using the amd64 version of both beta3 and beta4, I did not require an ir blaster as long as the components were in close proximity, same set of shelves side by side, it even blasted around the corner to my TV!!!!! However, for whatever reason, the 32 bit versions of these the onboard blaster did not function, and I had to plug in a dual ir blaster dongle to get it to work. And last evening I added an additional head to my dual blaster (3 now) and the 32 bit version, does in fact work well with the dongle. I control an AV recevier, a Dish 522 receiver, and a Sirius satellite radio now, all form the same USB-UIRT. my blaster dongle is home made, with parts from a local radio shack. The USB-UIRT is truely an amazing device. Have Fun! Seth

Yes. The keys on this keyboard are configured to do the same thing as the MCE remote. If you have the range, this is a good option as well. Sometimes, I wish I had a keyboard on my core/hybrid, rather than using an orbiter for web browsing. A note on that particular auction, it does not come with the receiver you will have to get one, or use a USB-UIRT.

I have a similar setup to this, however, I am fortunate to be in the US, and have schedulesdirect.com for my dish network program guide data. During the initial setup, Sarah should have seen your pvr500, I have 2 pvr150's which is very similar to a single pvr500. During the setup of the Media Player, my dish dvr was not a member of the list, so I had to use webadmin and create this device, after that was done, It was seen by Sarah. The first instance of my pvr150 was for the "Live TV DVR522" shortcut on the LMCE menu. Then the second instance was for the MythTV part of the setup, where I had to enter my schedules direct information. This part you will not be able to complete, as LMCE uses schedulesdirect. As you have Sky TV, you will need to run mythtv-setup manually. You can do this by using the "Computing" > "MythTV Setup" option within LMCE, or by going to a KDE Desktop session, and using konsole (terminal) as user root to run 'mythtv-setup' Once this is done, and you have run mythfilldatabase, you should be able to access the sky box, via the "TV" shortcut on the LMCE menu. However, without the need of the USB-UIRT, although you will need this for recording TV" By selecting "Sky" or "Live TV Sky" from LMCE menu, you should be able to use your existing remote, and watch TV through LMCE. This you should be able to do now, provided you selected the right input during the Setup Wizard. I am using 2 Dish Network Receivers, and they work both in MythTV, as well as "Live TV" If there are any other questions, please post them, I will try to help as best I can.

If you used the quick install dvd, the default user is linuxmce and so is the password linuxmce. As user linuxmce you should be able to do sudo -i linuxmce
And that should do it.

LinuxMCE / Users / Re: USB-UIRT beta4 i386 - Pretends to Work!!!(Mostly Resolved)

OK. I went home, plugged in a homebrew dongle to the back of the USB-UIRT, and shazam! Now it is controlling the Dish Network box flawlessly. So, if you use one of these, use the blaster dongle. But the issue still remains, that w/the AMD64 installation, and the power of the onboard transmitter, the dongle is not needed. It even blasts around corners. With that said, there is still an underlying issue, with the i386 (x86) version, that limits the functionality of the USB-UIRT. Dongles are great, and have flawless execution, but why does the onboard only work with AMD64?? Even so, the implication of the dongles resolved this issue, for now. Thanks for reading!

I figured it would. Same bug as beta3. I came home tonight, plugged in one of the dongles, and bingo, now my channels change just like they are supposed to. And I am still running the i386 version. Looks as though we were both successful. Now to find out why the onboard blaster does not work..... Glad it worked out for you, thanks for keeping me up to date Laters.

No. The test codes did not work. I think it must be a bug using i386 (x86) on an AMD64 CPU/Motherboard set up. With beta3, the USB-UIRT acted exactly the same way, as it is now. It programs perfectly, and even responds to input, but it just didn't change any channels. As soon as I updated/upgraded to the AMD64 version, it worked flawlessly.
I am also going to get the AMD64 dvd/cd set, and try it for beta4. But I still would like to know why it did not work.
I will post my results here as well.
Thanks for looking,
