Yes. Have to do some more research to find out if it is something that is really working. Lots of discussion is re à new lib, libblueray which seem to play à major role.
I Will see what i can dig up.

There´s a lot of talk about bluray on mplayer and xine irc channels.
Afaik the latest mplayer devel release even support playback of encrypted blueray.

As you say makemv is another nice app. Lot´s of talk about that too on irc.
As Matroska containers nowadays support chapters and subtitles in it´s container
makemkv can rip a dvd, blueray in a good way.

Have you set vdpau as hw accel sdetting in webadmin for your md on which you use mplayer?
Which nvidia card do you have?

For your information I´m reengineering our mplayer functionality.
The reason for that is because atm several mplayer functions do not work as expected.
For example pause. Timecode is not sent back to lmce correctly.

Status right now is that it is working but lack some parts. Hope to get it to beta status during next week.

I have chosen another way to integrate mplayer than what was used before. Instead of engineering our own
integration to mplayer through pipes(since mplayer do not have a socket interface) I have chosen a existing
library that support several other players as it´s backend too. Namely Xine, Gstreamer, vlc and mplayer.

libplayer is a relly nice library to write media players in.
It abstracts all backend player functionlity into one common api.

/niz23

My goal is to get this into lmce0810 release.

34
To soon to say bit it looks like they Will implement support in the long run.
I try to dig some and see what i can come up with.

35
Discussion re supporting this card is ongoing on both xine and mplayer irc channels.

Installation issues / Re: hybrid into core on beta 2
« on: January 05, 2010, 07:58:20 pm »
sambuca,
That is one way. With some manual changes you might be able to make the old Pluto tail script and menu running om a terminal.
If you do please write à wiki article how to do it.
/niz23
Are you talking about the old pluto console menu?
Have you seen the new launch manager, which runs in a screen session?

best regards,
sambuca

Kind of embarassing to say I have not.

Maybe xineliboutput need to be recompliled against our patched libxine?
Just a guess but might be worth to test.

Another hint is to try and speak to the guys over at #Xine-vdpau
Some of the vdr developers hang there. Especially those that work on xine and vdpau functionality for vdr.

I wonder if this may be related to our updated libxine?

Why do you want to do that?
Add a MD and use that instead.
Leave your hybrid as is.

There is no core only concept as there was with PlutoHome.

Maybe unrelated.
Read that this type of issue have been seen if you have power mgmt enabled in bios together with some nvidia cards.
Just a wild guess, check it out.

Found the info at some page on geexbox wiki.

Installation issues / Re: DVD CSS
« on: December 30, 2009, 10:32:13 pm »
kyfalcon,
On a related note in 8.10 beta 2.
I can play all my dvd's from disk but when I try to rip them to my hard drive a bunch of them stop around the 4%-5% range.
Does Anybody else see this?

What you see is copyprotection.
I have seen many newer movies that cannot be ripped the way we do it.
Unfortunately this will most likely be more and more common.

As a workaround you may rip with other apps and transfer the resulting ISO to LMCE.
I have no good alternative to you, but rumours say "makemkv" on linux should be able to rip most movies.
Even encrypted BlueRay. Have not tested it yet and do not know if this app is really available.
Saw a note about it on #xine.

Please create a trac ticket for this issue at http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/newticket

Provide as much info as you can about the issue.
Like graphics card model/type, gpu driver version, graphics acceleration setting etc.
And also provide info how to reproduce and workaround if known.

It do?
I did some research re this several month ago. It do not work for me. I´m in Sweden.
It seem our EMI (external media identifier) cannot speak to Microsoft Meta Service anymore.
What movies did you rip? Where are you located?

People, all of you that read this thread.
Please tell if you can rip dvd´s and if they are automatically identified together with info which country you live in.

/niz23

Works fine for me, I've got the latest updates and it ripped 2 movies and found data automatically last night.

Developers / Re: Errors Trying to setup build environment

rperre,

It´s because you have no libxine.
see one of the last rows with error output from linker.

Do you have libxine and it´s -dev package installed?
