16  LinuxMCE / Users / Accessing Webcam from External Network on: June 25, 2011, 02:56:04 pm
I have just installed a Panasonic webcam on my LMCE system and all is well.  My question is: can I access my webcam via the internet using a standard web browser.  I have a static IP address on my linksys router to which my core is attached.  Therefore the core is just another device on the router, IP address 192.168.1.106.  I installed the camera on the internal network at 192.168.80.253 and it works great.  How do I get to the camera via the internet ie to the linksys router to the core then to the cam?  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Randy
17  LinuxMCE / Marketplace / Re: Radio Shack Clearance on: June 16, 2011, 01:56:02 pm
Found out there are no stock numbers on discontinued items.  The fellow there told me that they are only at corporate stores and not franchise stores.  I have looked at other stores but have not found any more z-wave stuff.

They were the GE Z-Wave Dimmer switch 45606.  The lamp module is 45602 and the outdoor module is 45604 I think they are GE part numbers.  They are next to the schlage link products.  I am away from the house but as soon as I get back tomorrow I will get my receipt with the Radio Shack numbers.  Let me know if this helps.  I checked the Radio Shack web site and it said that they no longer carry them.
Thanks,
Randy

Just wanted to let everyone know.  I found at our local Radio Shack GE Z-wave dimmers for $14.00, Outdoor Z wave switches for 9.99 and Lamp modules for 9.99.  They were marked for clearance and the guy said there should be the same offerings at other stores.  I hope this post is not inappropriate.  I dont work for Radio Shack or anything.

21  LinuxMCE / Users / HDMI Audio on Zotac ION 230N on: June 13, 2011, 09:50:20 am
I have a general question.  I have a new Zotac Ion 230N as a Media Director I followed the instructions and have HDMI audio working into a LCD TV.  My question is:  Does the volume control on the Media Director control the volume going to the TV or will it control the volume on the TV.  In other words, is the HDMI audio output fixed coming from the media director?  Monitoring Alsamixer during a volume change does not cause any activity.  Also Mute does not work.  Is this because the mute command is supposed to mute the TV and not the output from the Media Director?  Many thanks to L3mce for helping me get this far.

Thanks,
Randy
22  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Is anybody using the GE NX-8E for their alarm panel? on: May 25, 2011, 08:15:50 am
Fantastic, keep up the good work.  I have a NX-8E panel I have just been using stand alone for over a year so anything in this area is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your hard work.

Thank you for responding.  I have zotac ion n230 I believe they were working on a previous install.  I did reload the Diskless_CreateTBZ.sh again and the MD made it past the previous place where the installation stalled.  I have now run into another problem with "unable to load active X". It seems to have something to do with the nvidia 195 drivers.  The program recommends doing an apt-get -f install.  I tried this but nothing happened.  Keep in mind this was a functional system as far as media directors were concerned before doing the reload.  Thinking abut trying another reload of the system with the latest good snapshot.  Too bad I am at the airport in Houston waiting on a flight.  Any help would be appreciated.

25  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Is my install good on: April 26, 2011, 04:40:21 pm
I would like some help with my installation.  How do I tell if my install is good?  I have re-installed the core two times over the past 3 days and have had different failures with each install.  First install the media directors failed when trying to start active X, the second install the media directors failed on initialization.  There seems to be directory problems with replication of songs on the media menu.  I need to know if there is a way to verify that all the modules are present.
Thanks

Also PCI port is good for serial ports in case you have an RS 232 controled A/V device as the USB to serial converters are a bit of a pain.

28  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: MD Orbiter only display "Floorplan" when mouse over on: September 03, 2010, 01:39:42 pm
I had a similar problem.  I had created some new rooms with new labels using setup.  I ended up deleting the new rooms that I had created and only using the rooms listed during setup such as Master Bedroom, kitchen, etc.  I completed the setup using these rooms and the MD started working correctly.  Hope this helps.

I could access the file manually.  It was a relatively new install so I got the latest snapshot and started over.  Works great now.  Thanks for your help Thom.
