Installation issues / Stuck on php5-curl

Has anyone had this problem with the installer?  I keep getting this message over and over again and the system appears to hang.  I have waited 4 hours and there is no progress.  I am installing the 8.10 alpha per the wiki.
Thanks,
Randy

Bit of an update:  I have acquired a USB scale and a bar code reader to play with.  Honestly, I will be struggling here since I have no coding experience.  It will take some time to learn how to implement this with LMCE.
Thanks,

I had done the above and it gave me a timeout 15 message when I ran the script.  I went ahead and called in and it worked just fine.  Thank you all for your help with this I was getting quite frustrated.

Hi Krys,
I managed to use kate to edit the file /usr/pluto/bin/create_pluto_dialplan.pl and add the semi colon.  I am not sure how to run the perl script from the console.  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Installation issues / Broadvoice and 8.10
« on: August 25, 2009, 09:18:55 am »
Wondering if anyone else has run across this problem.  I have a broadvoice account which works great in 7.10.  I have loaded 8.10 alpha 2.29 and I can not receive any incoming calls. I can make outgoing calls just fine.  I put the 7.10 disc back in the system and all returns to normal.  I checked the firewall and have it disabled.  Any ideas out there?
Thanks,
Randy

Installation issues / Re: Zotac Ion board
« on: August 14, 2009, 10:29:58 pm »
Sorry that it took so long.  I put a hard drive in the media director with a movie on it.  Unfortunately for me there is still some studdering on the video.  I have a 230 Zotac Ion with 2 gigs of memory.  The only thing I can think of that is weird is that I could only get the AV Wizard to install using component and 720P like Krys.  Is it possible that I am doing something wrong with the installation?  Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you Andrew,
When I get off work tonight I will try connecting a usb DVD drive up and seeing if that makes a differenct.  I have gigabit cards and switch so band width should not be a problem but the core might be.  Thanks for  your suggestions.

I hope this is the appropriate place to post this.  I have a Zotac Ion running ver 8.10.  I have installed the 180.60 drivers without any difficulty.  I have not been able to select the HDMI option and the 1080p option on the AV wizzard. Everything seems to work but the video seems to shudder for just a second intermittantly.  Possibly due to increased motion on the screen. The screen does not seem to have any tearing it is like the whole frame just pauses for a few tenths of a second.  Are there other things that need to be done to tweak the Zotac board.  Same problem on different DVDs.  This is not HD content but stored movies from the core.  Same problem also exist when DVD is read off of DVD drive.  Again, I hope this was the correct place to post.

Thanks Colin,
I did not see it anywhere and actually thought I had an original idea.  I am a bit of a newbie but I am learning.  I hope that once I get my system up and running in 8.10 I will get started on this unless someone else picks it up.

Feature requests & roadmap / Grocery List

This may be too pie-in-the-sky, but has anyone thought about putting a barcode reader on a MD in the kitchen and scanning stuff as you throw them away?  You could then make a grocery list that will replace the used items.  Just a thought.
Thanks,

Installation issues / Re: Multiple USBUIRT's
« on: July 21, 2009, 01:05:45 pm »
Yes, in the beginning the idea was to have no visible components in any of the rooms.  A very clean install.  Now with nice little goodies like the revo etc.  that is not an issue.  I think I will go with the media directors in each room and run an IR cable back to the closet to control the receiver and the satellite STB.  I have fours STB's in the closet so I have been thinking of having two controller by MD's in the rooms and maybe having two MD's in the closet with their only purpose to control the STB's and record video.  I guess I could get 4 more STB's and have one for each TV.  Therefore I would have a total of 8 STB's which gets a little pricey every month.  I think the 4 kids rooms could maybe get their video from a couple of  HDHomerun's on the network.  Man this thing can fry the ole brain.  I guess the nuts and bolts of the thing is how do I get 8 MD's to work with 4 STB's and have access to the 4 different satellite channels?  Any ideas?  Again thanks for your input.

Thanks for the ideas.  I think I will end up with MD's in each room.  The problem I have is that when I designed the house I was not aware of LMCE.  I took the expensive route and ran component cables to nine rooms from the central media closet.  Sounds crazy now but I hate to abandon $2000.00 worth of cable.  Not to mention I will have to run some Cat 5 to some places where there are none now.  I think I can use the componet cable for Live HD content somehow.  I can put a MD in every room and have one LED emitter in the room and a LED emitter in the media closet to control the satellite box.  Unfortunately, the audio is a question too, since the speaker cables for the rooms are also routed back to the media closet.  I guess I could just use the audio from the MDs to the TVs without utilizing the wall speakers which are routed to the closet.  Confusing?  I will make a diagram of what I have.  In addition I still dont have a working remote for my satellite boxes.  Man this stuff is fun but taxes the mind.  Again thanks and I am open to any suggestions.

Thanks Colin it looks like I will be in the market for 4 new media directors.  I have 4 usbuirts that I will use on each media director I guess I will get the eee pc for media directors or is there something better on the horizon?  Thanks everyone for your input I hope to get this system up and running in the next couple of weeks.

Yes, I tried the GC100 in the past with 7.10.  It would not work, but I understand that it is working in 8.10 so I will check into it.  I will get a diagram of the system I am working on.  I think that having one MD in each room is a definate option.  I can perhaps use one of the cat5's that I have to connect ir back to the machine room.

Thanks,

Randy

Hi all,
Well, after several weeks non-stop at work I am back at trying to get this functional.  My biggest question is how do I get the device template to select the remote?  I have tried selecting the design object that I have modified with HADesigner but it seems that the device template used the same remote no matter what I try.  Is there someway to select which remote the device template uses?  I am at a total loss.  I know that there has to be a way to do this.

Any help would be greatly apprecitated

Thanks,
Randy
