Installation issues / Buffalo Linkstation won't play media
« on: August 21, 2010, 04:31:33 am »
Bout at wits end here.  What is happening is that the files on  the Buffalo linkstation will not play.  It seems that any attempt to play them hangs the MD or the orbiter giving the command.  I have followed the Wiki as best as I can and reviewed the forums.  There is something mentioned about description of the linkstation must match the mount command?  Initially the system did not recognize the linkstation so I used the Configure_1837.sh to get the system to recognize it.  Everything seemed to come up and the dir structure was created on the linkstation.  Public/data/audio etc.  I can read and write to the drive.  It is only when I click on an album cover on the orbiter that the system quits.  Not sure what the next step is?  I hope someone can give me a hand with this.
Thanks,
Randy

Users / Re: What devices are you running Web orbiter 2.0 on?

I thought I would show what I mean.  The touch screen does not seem to sync with the buttons once the screen is scrolled.  Whatever button was at a location seems to stay at the same location on the touchscreen.  The mapping of the touchscreen remains constant even though new button are at the same coordinates.  The logoff, etc buttons seem to be fine.

Got weborbiter 2.0 working on the IPAD but with the following problems.  It seems that you have to scroll down to access the lower row of buttons and when you do they dont seem to work.  I used to 1024x768 resolution but it seems too large for the screen.  I guess the next thing would be to decrease the height some.  Any ideas?

I had same problem.  As an addition in broad voice I banned any international calling.  Of course, not everyone can do this but it is a second line of defense.  I had calls to Sierra Leone too!  Wonder what's going on there?

This looks interesting.  Has anyone been following this one.  I suspect it is similar to the Zotac 330's that we have been working with.  Any ideas?

Users / Re: Is anybody using the GE NX-8E for their alarm panel?
« on: April 28, 2010, 07:16:38 pm »
This alarm panel thing is driving me crazy. lol.  I got a GE NX-8E because it was once listed as supported.  Then the Honeywell system and was saving up for the VistaICM and they discontinue it...darn.  Could go Thom's route and just use a bunch of GC100's but that is pretty expensive or z-wave stuff.  Then your insurance company wants a "Real" alarm panel.  Oh well...  I am not sure which direction this will take now.
Thanks,
Randy

I second the conduit.  I put conduit in the wall to the attic and left it at that.  Fixed budget.  It has saved my butt several times already.

As you may have guessed things have kind of stalled out at the moment.  I am hoping to get back at it this summer once the kids get out of school.  They have been needing a lot of help lately.  Yes I am sure there is a way to use a webcam instead of a barcode reader.  I will investigate.  Thanks for your patience.

Installation issues / Re: No Media Director audio 8.10 [Solved]
« on: January 07, 2010, 06:54:35 pm »
OK think with all of your help I got a solution.  I went into alsamixer and made sure everything was unmuted.  I noticed the card was listed as a HDA Nvidea HDMI.  So I went into the admin page and changed the Sound to HDA Nvidea and HDMI.  After this change I was able to use HDMI audio and get rid of the stereo cable.  So at this moment the Zotac is connected to the TV solely by the HDMI cable.  I hope that I could reproduce it.  One of the problems I think I had was that I was trying to play a Wav file off of another media directors CD drive.  I dont think the proper library was installed yet.  Its working and thank all of you for your help.

I checked and there is no audio from the stereo port on the Zotac.  I set up using analog on the AVWizard just like I always have done in the past.  I am not sure how to check altamixer at this point so I have not done that as of yet.  This was a working system up until I had to reload it after it was hijacked by phone bandits.  The other MD works fine but it is a laptop.  I am just wondering if there was a problem with making the diskless file or something.  That would be the only software that changed.
As usual any ideas would be great.

Sorry for lack of detail.  I am using an analog connection directly to the TV.  I had sound up until the time I reloaded the system.  I used the 8.10 DVD and followed the wiki for installation.  I connected my laptop as a new media director and audio works fine on it.
Hope this helps

I had to do a reinstall of my 8.10 system beta 2.  The core/hybrid comes up fine but the MD does not have any audio even in the AVWizard.  I have a Zotac Ion 230 board and the previous install worked just fine.
Anyone have this problem?  Any ideas?
Thanks,

Thank you for your help with this.  I think I have a much more secure system now.  I was getting call back from the hundred or so people my system called and evidently whoever hijacked the system has not very nice.  But I appreciate all the hard work the developers have done.  Happy New Year.
Thanks,
Randy
