Hmmm, I don't know if I received the update, how do I check it or get it?

Sorry to keep inundating this forum with newblet questions.  I'm trying to setup my Hughes Sat receiver and all is going well but I get to the screen where it tells me to go to labs.zap2it.com and setup an account, no problem I do so.  Then on the next screen I enter my username and password and it gives me the error:

"There was an error retrieving provider information.  Confirm you location is set correctly.  Check the network connection."

Obviously I have confirmed the location as well as the network connection and they seem fine.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

OK, new update.  Here's where I am.

Evidently the Fiire tech that told me the VIA files go in /usr/pluto/diskless/install/via was wrong.  Got a new tech that says the path is /usr/pluto/install/via.  He says that if I put the files boot.tgz kubuntu.tgz and pluto44md.tgz in that folder then boot the MD all should be well.  Well it isn't.

I actually did a complete reinstall of 704 completed the wizard adding no AV equipment or extraneous devices, put the files where they say they're supposed to go and booted the MD.  Now I'm back to where I was when I started which is the MD boots, gets to Diskless_ExportNFS.sh then reboots.  I've left it on for up to 2 hours and it never gets past that point.

Here is my question.  Does just putting those files there automatically work?  It seems to me that you would have to edit some config file or something to point to the new path as I've created a new folder in the install directory (via).  Is anybody out there using the Fiire stations that can maybe help me with this?

Ideally I'd like to have the custom install DVD I was supposed to get with this hardware but Polywell has yet to return my calls or emails (as usual).

Any help would be appreciated.

Tried that and same result.  MD gets to "Running Diskless_ExportNFS.sh" then just reboots.

I saw that I have a via folder under /usr/pluto/install but as I said I just used the path they told me.

I think I'll try to put them in the /usr/pluto/install folder and see what happens.  (making a backup of the existing files of course.

OK, as per Fiire I copied the files to /usr/pluto/diskless/install/via then removed the old md from the webadmin, reloaded the router and started my MD, now it just boot loops.

Any ideas?

Where can I get a list of available commands?

I'm trying to delete a file and I can't seem to figure it out.

That worked!

rrambo, thank you so much for your help and patience.  I'm obviously completely new to Linux and it means a lot to get help with newbie stuff.

Thanks again

Open up a terminal window, or Ctrl-Alt-F2 to log in to another session...  don't use the Run command box

OK, I gotcha now.  Two questions:

What's the command to create a new folder?

How do I get out of the terminal screen and back to my desktop?

Are you saying the cp command gives you that error?

I type this in the Run Command box:
#sudo cp /root/via-archives/boot.tgz /usr/pluto/diskless/install/via/boot.tgz

And I get a page that says this:

KDE Man Viewer Error
No man page matching to sudo cp /root/via-archives/boot.tgz /usr/pluto/diskless/install/via/boot.tgz found.

Check that you have not mistyped the name of the page that you want. Be careful that you must take care about upper case and lower case characters!
If everything looks correct, then perhaps you need to set a better search path for man pages, be it by the environment variable MANPATH or a matching file in the directory /etc .

It gives me access denied, how do I get permissions to write to the folder?

OK, my problem doesn't seem to be video.  Fiire tells me that there are special drivers for the VIA processor.  They've sent me the packages but I have no freaking idea what to do with what they sent and a tech isn't going to be available for 4 hours.  :(

They sent me:

boot.tgz    15MB

kubuntu.tgz    630MB

pluto44md.tgz    1.7GB

I know they're zipped files but I don't know where to extract or if theres some kind of install process.

Anybody know what I'm supposed to do with these?
