you might want to look at your syslog file on the core. It might give you an insight as to what is causing the phone to not work correct. My money is on wrong or missing firmware in the tftpboot.

with an original LinuxMCE setup, you could add another genre to all these files, and they could be selected using this additional genre. No idea if that is supported under the Dianemo scheme of things.

Not sure if it is applicable, but one thing I did with the VDR plugin was a send only option. i.e. I only send out the command, without waiting for a reply. That has changed the way I can interact with VDRs build in menus dramatically.
