Have a look at the Linux distros that come with the Netbooks.

LinuxMCE is not what you want.

bulek,

instead of going to a screen, you mind want to look into Popups. They go away automatically, afaik.

PS: I do not know, if that works from the scenarios, but it does work just fine from the Designer

dlewis,

thank you for your pointers. Especially the part with sip_nat.conf is clearly described in the wiki Wink

As this is ONLY relevant for calls leaving your network, and calls coming into your network, I don't think that SCCP is relevant here. At least I don't know an ITP providing SCCP services.

chris,

the audio kit will not get turned on, when you turn on the MD. The audio kit should get automatically turned on, when you need the audio output. If you have your AV gear correctly related to your MD that should happen automagically (and it does do for me Smiley ).

This is the beauty of LinuxMCE.

Hello bulek,

I'd like to make event handlers for motion sensors outside of the house.
I'd like to switch Orbiter to show coresponding camera (easy done with goto screen command), wait for 30 secs (I guess delay command), but then I'd like to switch back to whatever screen Orbiter was showing...

what do you want to achieve that is currently not included in the standard security camera handling?

1. How do i integrate faxes? Asterisk seems to be capable of this, but im learning it slowly as im doing a lot a once.

There are a couple of ways. hylafax is one way, recvfax is another project tightly integrated with Asterisk. How ever, keep in mind, if you receive your calls over VoIP, you won't have much success with faxes.

2. Changing the default message to one you record / upload. I have tried this multiple times, but it appears broken. Italics are there because im more than likely missing something.

How did you try to record new greetings, and what greetings are these?

Could you put the needed pop3 php code someplace where one does not need to be registered?

[..]As of now, I attach a Phoenix Solo USB conference mic to each media director, and use that as my phone, dialing from the orbiter as appropriately.

Did you modify the SimplePhone app to support the USB mic?

chris,

another idea is, to "recycle" the other button groups on the main menu. Instead of having climate scenarios there, put some lighting scenarios in there. Same with media.

Nice duct-tape solution Wink

I wonder how many people are using the telecom (asterisk) part of LinuxMCE. How do you like it? Does your HDD fill up with all your old mailbox messages, or do you clean them out.

Inquisitive minds want to know.

Thanks

los93sol,

some people have problems identifying stuff from pictures and are better at reading instead of looking at pictures.

You might want to look into different systems.

If I were you, I would setup a central VDR system with vdr-plugin-streamdev-server for LiveTV, and add samba storage for stored videos, and put all of that under a nice web interface, where you use VLC or Xine to do the display. Each of the client station can network boot using LTSP, and you'd be done with it.

LinuxMCE might not be the best solution to your problem.

DHCP is on. The network section indicates this:
[..]
EXTERNAL_IP    192.168.1.138
INTERNAL_IP    192.168.80.1

What i dont understand is the whole external/interface and plugging it in one as opposed to the other. Could you explain in further detail?
I am scouring the net as I write this looking for answers this forum came about as one of my Google searches

Do you windows machine have an IP address in the range of 192.168.1.x or 192.168.80.x?

Sounds interesting.

20-30MDs with standard def video means quite a bit of bandwidth needed. Would each MD need a dedicated stream, or all of the MDs going to watch the same stuff?
