2267  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Denon AVR 2307 - house to sleep mode while media is playing on: February 09, 2009, 01:11:52 pm
I am not sure that one has to live with it.

Two options
* Wait for 0810 an hope it will solve the problem
* Buy a PCI soundcard and use that.

Prob2
When I select new media, it starts to play immediately - but after a second or so - audio cuts out as Linuxmce seems to reset the Denons outputs. Then starts playing again. This doesn't happen if I change songs in a playlist - but if I load a new playlist or new media it happens every time...

As a heads up. I have seen the same problem with a different amp (Meridian Audio System). My assumption is, it has nothing to do with the amp, but with the sound card.

What sound card do you use?

Code:

2269  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: can't get web orbiter play any Media (audio, video) on: February 08, 2009, 10:31:41 pm
You can even go back to the original (and still intact) naming definition.

Each of the media director is called moon<device-id>

The core is pluto.

And the Orbiter is capable to travel from moon to moon. And control stuff on the relevant media director.

The onscreen orbiter on any of your media director can change its location, and control a different moon (room). Whenever you hit play media, the media will not play on the orbiter, but on the moon (room, media director), you have selected on the orbiter.

I use this analogy to get things sorted out in my little brain.
2270  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: can't get web orbiter play any Media (audio, video) on: February 08, 2009, 03:53:48 pm
If you are trying to view the content of the DVD on the web browser, you have no luck.

The Web Orbiter is purely that - an orbiter to control a PC playing stuff.

An Orbiter itself does not display media, only a Media Director plays stuff (and some other audio output devices like a SqueezeBox)
2271  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Pulling my hair out after a weekend of failed attempts on: February 03, 2009, 04:07:32 pm
you might want to update the Display Driver page in the wiki.
2272  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Strange issue with web admin site on: February 03, 2009, 04:06:30 pm
You are probably talking about remote access? That functionality is currently not available, due to the split from the original servers.
2273  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Hardware recommendations on: February 03, 2009, 04:05:06 pm
The fiire remote and dongle together work out of the box for follow me.

But Eric, your setup is quite, hmm... interesting. You are wasting lots of money for little or no gain with all your "convert-2-CAT6-2-whatever" thingies.

Good luck. And as I originally said, sometimes a 1000USD up front is better than wasting 20x 60USD over a period of 2 weeks.

Tomm,

if you are located in the UK, you might want to contact totallymaxed in the forum. They can provide you with ready-made solutions.

Tomm,

where are you located?

Benjamin,

the lack of response is some kind of indication.

I do not know of a KNX/IP implementation for lmce

2277  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: Note to all hackers, we need help. on: February 03, 2009, 09:54:59 am
if you are running Alpha1, you need to change your /etc/apt/sources.list file and change references from alpha1 to alpha-latest, then do an apt-get update and an apt-get upgrade. This will essentially take you to alpha2. Now that we have alpha-latest as a pointer to the latest alpha version from now on we won't have to monkey with sources.list.
I tried uppgrading my 8.10 alpha1 with this, and the update stops on pluto-storage-devices_2.0.0.44.0901260810_i386.deb.
[..]
Should I try a clean install, or do anyone want me to try something first? (It's just a testserver so I can delete it any time)

2279  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: noob question, autodetect tv tuner+lan post installation? on: February 02, 2009, 01:25:13 pm
Re-install is your best bet, with regards to your 2nd NIC.

It can be done manually, but it is cumbersome, so I suggest a reinstall.

For devices where device template exists, it makes sense to just re-run the Setup Wizard using an onscreen orbiter.
2280  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Blu Ray please on: February 02, 2009, 01:23:15 pm
Due to playback protection of Blu-Ray disks there is a big problem playing Blu-Ray disks under Linux.

Right now, you have two options:
  • Rip the Blu-Ray to the server. Playing it works
  • Use an external Blu-Ray player, and control it with LinuxMCE
